I use Urethane whenever I want to. Im A lefty so people really dont care unless i leave the 7 pin and throw backup . I think people should Practice more and learn to adjust no matter what ball others use.
Only have one bowler in our group that throws urethane, and I've personally never had an issue with it. Use the ball that fits with the conditions. Love the videos 👌🏻👍🏻❤
These videos has helped me to prepare for anything, I do alot of sweepers on house shot lanes that people use urethane...I dont own a urethane but I know it make it difficult...because of this video I can adjust the right way!!!
I bought a urethane ball for my arsenal and never really knew when to use it. This video helped me to understand when to use it and what it actually does to the lane, thank you!
absolutely enjoy your videos. literally bowled in league and the other team all had urethane. believe it or not my proton physix was the only thing that was working for me
The final explanation was absolutely perfect! Surface of the ball is so important to achieve the desired reaction we want!!! And clarifying urethane is NOT meant for dry!!!
Not meant for dry when you throw the ball, but to others, it might work great on the dry! Learn to adjust like everyone else and quit trying to get people to play by your rules so that only you can benefit.
I only use urethane when I have to. My game just doesn’t match up. I don’t mind if someone else is using it, just makes me step up my game. Thank you for the effort to teach and not just sell stuff like a lot of other channels.
Awesome video, urethane has its place as to when it should be used. I don’t bowl league as of yet but hopefully soon. Congrats on 20K subscribers and congrats to whoever wins the giveaway!!
After not bowling for 20 years I'm finding out that there is a lot to learn about how the game has changed. How cool is it for me that I am learning by seeing you bull at the same center that I do ( the old Orange Bowl in Lakeland)! I have a Brunswick Evo reactive and a Hammer Black Pearl. I hardly ever through the hammer because I don't need that kind of friction at the front end in the afternoon before they oil for leagues. Even with the oil, I think I would move right and ride the oiled/dry divide. Best of luck to you Nate, and Elise, you add so much more for the women to learn. Looking forward to bumping into you two open bowling just to say hi and give you guys encouragement and thanks!
Was a great explanation of the breakdown using a urethane ball. I really enjoy watching you both compliment each other and you both are awesome bowlers. Good luck on your bowling on the tours and keep your videos coming for us amateurs to learn more 😂❤😅
Haven't bowled in more than twenty years. When I did it was a black Hammer. Best game with it was a 246 with the first two frames open...Ouch! Lots of information here. Thanks for sharing!
Love the channel been watching for awhile now. This video makes me rethink buying a urethane ball since I haven't bowled in league for almost 20 years. Will be joining a league either this season or the next. Thanks for all the information.
Congrats on 20K!!! I don't mind urethane to much. I just ball up and try and keep my angles more front to back. And stay to the right of there breakpoint.
Great video, I watched LR's video on carry down from bowling balls and was completely blown by his opinions. I know you guys understand the affects of different types of balls going down lane in league because everything you describe happens in our leagues. I roll The IQ tour most of the 3. games with simple adjustments but when plastic or urethane is used I end up left with phase 2 which works well for myself. Thanks for all your efforts.
Great info I just threw my purple hammer in my league bowled 200 with it and I rarely use it just for this reason personally I see it as a challenge when I see other people using urethane most people in our league seem not to care about or don’t say much when they use it be blessed today and every day keep up the great work prayers up for you on the road to success on the tournament journey for the both of you
Nate: u can do big things on the tour, just control your emotions & please stay in your lane 😆 U have the X & spare gm for success no doubt! Wishing u the best & congrats on 20k!
Great stuff as usual! I don't personally mind when people throw urethane because I feel I can adjust accordingly or change my equipment to help me play the game that I like to play. Which is why I'm a person who brings multiple bags to League 90 plus percent of the time I won't have to use more than one or two of those balls in League settings, but I bring it just in case someone does use urethane or destroys the lanes somehow. Best of luck Nate! Stay in your zone and out of your head and you'll do wonderful!
Really appreciate that you got 2 different lanes setup appropriately to actually demonstrate the difference. Some others would've just thrown urethane and reactive on the same lane instead. This was a much better demonstration.
we see exactly this transition on our house shot. Which for me, is OK, I can then move right (right hander) from my beginning location of 35 aiming 12 out to 10. If I can move a bit to the right I am definitely more comfortable. This is a very good video of what happens with urethane. Only issue is that you can't control what other people (even your teammates) throw. Only thing you can do is be aware of the changes that are going to happen.
Big Congratulations on 20k, I see numerous people throwing urethane on a house shot when there is no real need. I think because folks don't understand the dynamics of ball surfaces, cover stocks, cores and how they should be used on different conditions.
My league teammate uses urethane, but I just learned to bowl differently, and I manly play reactive resin... keep making videos, I learned a lot from you two😊
It's not really correct though. Urethane doesn't inherently cause carry down. Low flaring balls do. Luke Rosdahl does a much better job of explaining this topic.
I haven’t seen Luke’s video… from what it looks like he just talks about it and opinions about it. However, this video is a visual demonstration of the actual facts of what urethane can do to a lane. Urethane does in fact change the lane differently than a low flaring reactive 😃

Awesome video! & explanation, I was looking into the hammer black pearl urethane for my upcoming fall league to help with the dry lanes before watching this video lol
Absolutely hate it when someone throws urethane on a house shot! Especially in a tournament. So hard to adjust and carry... Congrats on 20k! Enjoying the vids
You don't hate when people throw urethane. You hate when you bowl bad. Luckily, all the people throwing urethane on a house shot will give you more than enough plausible deniability.
Thanks, N & E! A good explanation on the effects of throwing urethane down the lane on a house shot. As a righty, I only use my (really old) urethane ball for right side spares. Oddly enough, you guys didn't touch up on that in this video. 😅
geat insight. I see so many people throwing urethane in league, although I tend not to mind too much. I think it just forces people to have to actually bowl and adjust and not just throw a ball in the same spot all night long.
I use what I need to use at the time. I dont pay to bowl to help other bowlers so I can just appease them (mostly league and non-team tournament situations). BUT I also find it funny how a lot of bowlers today NEVER complained about people still using urethane back in the 90's when the X-Calibur and other first edition reactive bowling balls came out. DIdn't hear a peep of someone saying "OMG! Why doesn't Joe buy one of these new bowling balls, his old LT48 is F-ing up my shot!!!" Now that it has come to the complete opposite, everyone thinks the world is ending when someone pulls out a urethane.
Good luck on tour trials. That is exciting. My boy bowled against you all at a jamz this summer, saw how strong your team was and told us we need to start using more fast moving balls. I went out and drilled three new pieces. With urathane.... i could care less what other people bowl ill adjust in league. I used thane last year to jack up the line of our opponents a few position rounds. Hahaha. But you have to know your team if they can adjust. 98% of the time i dont need it bowling two handed
Interesting. In the mid 80's, before your time, I bowled on later leagues and the lanes were dry. Hammer and Columbia u dot were the most used balls at that time. Urethane seemed to suck up the oil. The pearl hammer then came out, etc. If I bowled on a freshly oiled lanes, the oil was pushed down but then dried up. I wish I could have bowled on oil that was pushed down and remained on the lane because I could have adjusted to that so much easier than dry lanes. Again interesting. Maybe things have changed. Enjoy your videos. Keep them coming. Good luck every time you bowl!!
Hey I just wanted to wish you Nate best of luck out there when you bowling the tour trials I hope you do real well and get your card also I just want to say that I enjoy watching you and your wife there with your videos I try to watch him whenever I get a chance on TH-cam I learn a lot from them and when it comes with the ball motion and everything especially when it comes to playing the lanes so anyway you and you better have keep up the great work and like I said I hope you do well in the PBA trials
Now I'm wondering if I've been on lanes after someone used urethane 🤔 I've had some pretty squirrelly reactions from polished balls that didn't make any sense. Wow! Awesome achievement, Nate! I wish you every success in the upcoming tournament. Keep us posted!
When I practice, I only bowl on one lane. I bowl a couple games with plastic, a couple with urethane and then start throwing reactive. I could imagine somebody using both lanes after me and wondering why there is an 8 board difference!!

This literally should be illegal on a house shot. If you stuggle hitting the pocket on a fresh house shot. You should just consider practicing. They make balls now that arent urethane that react like it! Love the video!!
I bowl in Kona. Unfortunately with the lane conditions here, the oil dissipates rather quickly possibly due to the warm high humidity tropical weather so we’re dealing with lane transition by the second game or sooner in league. I use urethane because it seems to be more controllable under these conditions. The other option that occasionally works is to use weaker entry level type reactive balls. High performance balls are great for the 7 pin but difficult to adjust to the pocket. Thanks for your videos.
That’s great! Like we said, nothing is definite in our videos! We just wanted to show people what happens to a lane when urethane is thrown and how to combat that if you are struggling. Thanks for your support !
@@NateandElisewanted to show people no your title says don’t use urethane on house. Funny thing is at my center of 60 lanes and 80 lanes, I get my ass kicked every other day by urethane players. So your title is very misleading if what you just said was your actual goal.
On patterns that have more ratios, meaning the easier the pattern, I feel like makes the biggest changes because it makes the backends inconsistent. Agree with this 100%. Lefties are here to keep the world in balance.
This is the perfect comment for bowlers to follow
I think people sometimes underestimate how useful a big dull chuggy ball can be when it comes to controlling a pattern front to back
yes! Especially someone with speed!

I bought a urethane ball for my arsenal and never really knew when to use it. This video helped me to understand when to use it and what it actually does to the lane, thank you!
Glad it helped!
As long as there's a southpaw option 😂 the joys of a being wrong handed, great info and content.
Thank you for explaining what urethane does to the lanes, especially during league. Good luck to you Nate! Congrats you two on 20k!
Appreciate it!

Can you throw a symmetric solid to control over under?
GREAT video explaining why not to throw urethane on a house shot, as well as how to combat it! Thx!

Great overall explanation of what urethane does to an oil pattern and how different styles might be able to combat that issue.

There are better ways to combat dry lanes for better carry overall with a reactive ball. You can do a weaker layout or cover to help... or add polish!
