    I'm super late to this series but I wanted to point out, if you haven't since discovered, riposte can trigger several times a turn. My swordsman usually kill three guys per turn. Taunt>Disengage>Riposte, Attack>Disengage>Riposte, ability>disengage>riposte, etc etc. This might be an unintended massive boost to damage but it's quite good. With good block and the taunt you won't even take damage on the first guy you engage.

      Yeah riposte definitely puts out a ton of damage! I could see it being really powerful if they put in a harder difficulty above this one or buffed enemies health.
      At the moment I take around 1-2 hits per combat using spearman and good positioning. Great thing about this game, is that lotsa play styles work! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

    Really good knowledge of character building! It would really help to have some of the basics written out for easy access to how to upgrade units.

      The only way to upgrade units at the moment is at the brotherhood landmarks, every zone has one, then you can buy the books from the vendor for 500 gold each.

    Laceration with a 2H is really good, especially when gaining valor on hitting two enemies. Hit, gain valor, spend two valor to hit them two more times, gain another valor... do three high damage attacks on multiple enemies for a net zero valor cost. Talk about quick and efficient killing. Good placement and decent movement means I can use it at least once per battle and is great for removing enemies in the first round before they get a turn.

      I'm using prosperity on my swordman at the moment so laceration isn't really fitting with the playstyle since prosperity has a knock back. I do enjoy using laceration I still do not think it compares to berserkers maelstrom though I unfortunately. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

    @Methfu Laceration is probably one of the best abilities in the game, when you have it upgraded, as it only requires 1 performed attack. If you build it the right way, you can one shot 3-4 mobs in the opener. You just need to use your cleave first and then finish with laceration.

      Yeah, it's a great ability. My only issue is the 2 VP cost. Which on it's own is maybe worth it since it's a really good skill once you upgrade it. It's just that between that 2 VP cost and other classes that also have amazing abilities that cost 2 VP( Ranger, Archer, Pikeman, etc), it's a lot of VP to blow through between all the characters.

      I do like laceration just compared to berserkers maelstrom I don't think it's as strong. So I might aswell get the berserker to have the area of effect damage role instead.
      Also destabilising strike is just an amazing skill that is hard to top. At the moment I'm using prosperity which has a knockback that wouldn't synergise very well with laceration also. I will try out again at some point though incase there was something that was buffed. Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

    Riposte is also pretty funny when paired with that shield that has powerful counter. You will counterattack multiple times

      @Methfu 2d world. With obstacles you get stuck. Also I click on his lead guy..sometimes he evades guards but by following him I get caught...it's weird.

    I like my swordsman as a protector tank. Giving your team that buff allows your damage dealers to make some risky plays, gives breathing room. Most importantly though, it allows you to go counter attack over bulwark.
    Only issue is that you need to rely on other characters to get around guards. I think the swordsman makes the best tank in the game.

      I prefer brute with mace which double guard + opportunism.

    have you seen the other swordsman class duelist yet? what do you think about it? it wears MEDIUM ARMOUR :D and learns final blow, deals about the same damage as destabilising strike, but instead of destabilising the enemy, if youre engaged in combat, you gain riposte. and when upgraded, if you already have riposte, deal 50% more damage

      Duelist class seems pretty strong so far with a two handed weapon to be able to hit hard. Only problem is I take around 1 to 2 hits per whole fight, so for my playstyle or team setup I don't get as much value out of it as I would like to. I do think it's definitely strong and they were to add an even harder difficulty above the hardest it would come into play alot more! Thanks so much for watching! ❤️

    Bro..me and my best friend were playing dnd with people after school in middle school. I would dm and the other kids would give me cqndy to play..i love war tales but why in coop you can click on host player to follow..sometimes it works..other times not..any idea

    You mention that Laceration is just a worse version of Maelsrom which is incorrect. Laceration deals 70% str AoE x2, thats 140% vs 1 target so against 3 targets you will get 420% damage
    Maelstrom deals 33% str circular aoe and repeats per target, so against single target you get only 33% damage, against two targets you get 132% and against 3 targets you get 297%.
    We can compare that to Rampage, for example which deals 30-45% str x3 , with a chance to trigger fury on a crit. Lets say the average damage from each tick is 40%, the build you've been using in the warrior video has ~50% crit damage and 25% crit chance (I assume you buff it further). So every crit will make the original tick and the tick that comes after deal 60% instead of 40%. The total damage therefore would be 160% (60%+60+40%) (which is what we're actually seeing). Of course paired with recklessness it can provide ridiculous damage output which can be a little deceiving about the true power of that skill (which is still a good skill).
    TL:DR: Laceration is one of the most damaging skills in the game ;)

      Great write up, I enjoyed reading the calculations and thought process behind what you said.
      Personally I agree laceration has great damage. The reason why I said it was a worse maelstrom was mainly because of the setup time required to be able to execute the ability.
      Late game you might not even be able to get this off during 1 fight un upgraded.
      Upgraded this becomes alot more manageable but the main thing is the setup time. Sometimes you want to Cleave then single target engage but with laceration you're forced to use your attack first which would need to be with a weapon that doesn't force you to engage the target you're attacking.
      Overall Maelstrom can be upgraded to attack more then once on fatal blows which is fairly easy to setup.

      @@Methfu The 2 attacks needed can be a bit offputting but when upgrading it, it only needs one attack to use. So can start with your normal attack and then follow with Laceration so you can use it every round if you want.

    I think Counter-Attack and Spear Wall got nerfed, CA only affects first engage and SW only affects one enemy unit

    Try to play the game on a 4 man team, on hardest level and ironman. It will show you the difference of medium and heavy armor. Every inch of the armor HP will count as you have limited people who can tank. Having 8 man on a team, even having wear them light armor would pretty much not make any difference as you would be overwhelm the enemies from the start.

    I've got 390h right now.
    Best tank class is Maceman.
    1st - Because swordman have disbalance , while maceman have weakening strike (-50% damage dealt by enemy you hit with). Swordsman have something similar later ,but its very conditional, while maceman apply it in any cases you need
    2de - While swordmen has resists to burn , poison , and THATS IT , maceman has over it opportunism (30% damage reduction when >1 enemy 6m near) and moderation (-70% incoming damage when hit 2 times).
    Poisons, burns and staff indeed as a pain. But when you are up vs a big ass Boss , or 5-6-7 enemies , its neither poising or burns that kill you , but incoming 999999 hits.
    In this way maceman can face tank everything like THE WWWWWWWWALLLLLL.
    Cut long story short - maceman can as well tank late game single bosses , or solo tank 1-2-3-4-5-6-99999 enemies
    What Swordman is good at?
    Killing targets with high defence stat , because his disbalance strike makes them nude. Though he is not even near an Axeman in terms of pure DPS , but you need 1-2 swords to deal with enemy tanks.
    Axeman is overall the biggest DPS in the game to cut everything.
    Work even better with swordman cutting down defence % to 0.

    Swordsman is not the best tank it the game in short.
    Maceman is.

      Excellent write up, I agree with a destroyer being able to take more damage in melee using Weakening Blow, Temperance if you have been hit twice already and Opportunism if there are 2 enemies.
      The problem is that is a lot of setup in combat - you need to use a valor point to activate the weakening blow for the 50% reduced damage and that is only active on 1 enemy target, then you also need 2 enemies to be near to get the opportunism 30% damage reduction buff. A lot of the time you will be sending your tank onto a lone enemy sword and board guy or onto an archer to shut it down safely. So you wouldn't be receiving the 30% damage reduction buff all the time in combat.
      Compared to something like Bulwark that gives deflection on engage - 70% damage reduction just from engaging a unit, that is 10% less damage reduction for zero valor points and setup.
      I'm not a big fan of Temperance - in combat most the time I take around 0-4 hits at most on my whole party depending on how many archers they have.
      Sometimes I don't take any hits at all. My tank normally take 0-2 hits before everything is dead, so the Temperance passive has just activated when I don't really need it.
      I don't see tanks as go in and stand there like a paperweight while things hit you, I see them as damage/utility/support/take some hits from lower armour classes.
      My philosophy is kill them before they can kill you - if the enemy is dead they can't damage you. The Fighter has Destabilising Strike - reducing enemies guard to zero, this means he can slowly kill the tanky targets with burning, poisons and also 2-3 shot the squishier targets.
      The Destroyer has very low DPS output while in tank form so the enemies will be alive a lot longer then they should be, this creates a slight dominoes effect of having to use your other damage dealers in the party to finish off the Destroyer tank's targets which gives you less attacks in a round.
      Fighter also gets counter attack which gives you an extra attack during combat if something hits you meaning you can down targets quicker since it counts towards the attack economy and once upgraded gives inspiration which allows you to travel across the battlefield with ease to priority targets that need to be tanked.
      My tank normally dies the most from bleeds/burns/poisons if I can't first aid them off in time - also using a valor point every round to remove the status effects is quite a big drain on action economy. With Hardcore Training making you immune to all the nasty status effects the enemy is forced to go through your grey armour hp bar which will normally be sitting around 50%+ guard giving you great damage reduction.
      My Fighter also uses Ulfberht of the Eye - giving me the ability to apply burning if I hit 2 targets at the same time - target loses 15% of their maximum health a turn I can normally get around 2-4 targets all burning with this, I'm also immune to it and it gives me 10% damage increase everytime it activates on me from the spread from the enemy, also 10% damage increase when I walk through it. The Fighters damage will never be as good as the Ranger, Archer, Warrior but around midway through the combat depending how many status effects the enemy has thrown my way - I can have around 20-50% damage increase.
      The Destroyer has higher damage reduction when all conditions are met but I feel like the fighter is the better tank in my opinion.
