BimmerTech's USB map update process means keeping your Navigation Professional or Navigation Business up-to-date is quick and easy. Just plug the flash drive into your BMW's USB port and the process will begin.
BMW map updates are available for North America, Europe West, Middle East, India and other regions, and are compatible with CIC, NBT or NBT Evo head units using Premium, Motion, Next, Move and other navigation versions.

How long does the installation take? I've heard some say 45-60 minutes so the car has to be running to see it through to the end?
The installation time depends on your car’s configuration. Rule of thumb is the time for the update to complete is somewhere in the ballpark of 45 minutes. You can just drive your car with the update being installed in the background, you can safely turn off your car too.
I have a 2015 328i and with 2018 maps -- how can I tell if it is worth it? is there a feature list or is it really just new streets and points of interest. I am hoping it improves the overall navigation experience.....
Hi! An update like this is only going to affect the data. So yes, more up-to-date roads, new points on the map. But everything else is going to stay the same.
If you want a better navigation experience, it probably depends on what exactly you're looking to improve. For example, by adding CarPlay or Android Auto to your vehicle, you'd be able to use Google Maps or Waze, which have plenty of features the BMW nav system is missing. If that's overkill, maybe just a small change, like adding real-time traffic information, could be enough. You can check here: www.bimmer-tech.net/bmw-idrive-coding/ and look for the 'Traffic Information' and 'Road Route Preview' options, which could both improve navigation in your car.

I need help , my 2015 328i M Performance doesn't have maps or navigation. I have tried downloading updates from BMW into a flash drive ( well formatted) but nothing , I don't even have the "software upgrade" option available to click and when I go to maps it doesn't have a version so it looks like it didn't have any installed. Any suggestion on how to fix this, anything helps, thanks

Unfortunately I’m unable to confirm if we have maps of your country. We are offering maps of different continents and regions, but BMW doesn’t list countries of these regions. If you confirm with your BMW dealer which region maps they have for your country, we will be able to deliver the correct maps for your car.
What happens to your previous bookmarks or saved locations?
Our map update doesn't erase any existing bookmarks or saved locations.
Does it matter that I unplugged the USB before restarting the system, but after the "successfully updated" and "restart system" prompt? I reckon the install was complete when I got the prompt and the USB would not need to remain plugged in for the restart?
Yes and no. To be sure you will have to check your current map version. (Go to your iDrive navigation view. Click the Options button on the iDrive controller. Scroll to the bottom and select 'Navigation system version'.)
@@bimmer-tech It does show the correct version and everything works as it should. Except it usually takes a short while for the version to show up at the beginning.

You will need to speak to your dealer to see if the map update they can offer for your car includes Cyprus. If so, we will be able to get you such an update.

What should I do if my car is not reading the USB?
Hello there! Pre-2010 vehicles may require an iDrive firmware update to update navigation maps via USB. Please send your VIN to info@bimmer-tech.net and our reps will do their best to find a solution for you.
Can I just buy the file online and use my own USB to do the process? I am sure it will be cheaper then buying the USB loaded with the map file from BimmerTech?

Hi, the files we send you have to download on your formatted USB stick, then plug it in your iDrive's USB port and follow the given instructions.
If the load was not complete to 100 ٪ and i Switch the car off and i quit the USB inserted . Will I get my new Update??
Because the BMW- staff told me , at least I must for 30 minutes drive and then I have to quit the USB inserted even If i Switch off My car , i will still able to get my update .

Hey there! Normally, the update process would stop when you turn off the car and will start from the same exact spot, when the car is turned on. Even if you pull out the USB, it will be the same. Did you buy a map update from us?
I just did that exact thing. I started the car. Started the update and then shut off the engine but left the ignition on. The update continued without issue with the engine off. The car does shut off after a few minutes. I don't know if the update is still running or not because the screen turned off but when I turned the car back on it continued and completed without error. My 2011 X5 took about 45 min to upload the new map data from a USB 3.0 stick.

Can I use one purchased map on my 2 bmw s?
Hi! The update codes are prepared for each vehicle, so for two BMWs, you'd need two codes. Also the map data you need (e.g. Premium, Move, Next etc.) depends on your navigation system. If your vehicles' navigation systems are different, you'll also need different map data for each.
Why does this idrive have bizzare colors and graphics but yet the same generation?

Umm 😐 my 2011 has original maps and I’m able to find any address. Every 6 months is excessive.
Hello there! Well, it depends on the region - there are places where new roads are added all the time or their names are changed, or old roads are closed.
@@thejupiter2 Obviously it's all going to depend on where you live, and what your driving habits are. True, most neighborhoods don't change streets from year to year, but if you live in an area that's experiencing a lot of expansion, or you regularly travel to different towns, you're far more likely to come across the gaps in your nav's coverage.
In any case, a large part of why BMW recommends such regular updates is to keep the points of interest up-to-date; the addresses might not change for decades, but what business you'll find at each will. Again, it depends on the destinations you find yourself looking for whether you'll need to update as often as BMW recommends.

how can i copy a map update into 2 usb sticks?
Theoretically you can copy the actual data, but there's no point of doing that cause the activation code only works for one VIN.
where do we get fsc code from??
BMW provides a unique FSC based on your car's VIN. When you buy a map update from a reputable reseller like BimmerTech, you'll get the map data + the required FSC for your car.

I finally got the usb. It did not operate as in this movie. I called and got Nelson. He let me tell him everything and then sent me to "teach support" Recording said I was next in line. I heard phone answer and immediately hung up. I called back got Nelson again. He seemed irrated I called back. He transferred me. Again said I was number 1 in que. After 20 min on hold it went to recording instructing me leave name and phone i would get call right back. It never happened! I am super pissed about this
