- Last time we took Turbo Taxi out for a run we thought it might have split a bore, but here's what really happened.

My turbo Barra still has the BTR in it, you certainly know your way around these engines now Scotty.

Yes the BA XR6 Turbo through BF were BTR (ION) 4-speed but then that was changed to the ZF 6 speed from BFII, but LPG were 4-speed all way through to BF III (wagon) and FG I, when FGII was started the Ecolpi bsd LPG engines got the 6 speed but it was a China built ZF.

@@351tgvI have had my sept 2011 LPi since new. Definitely a German 6HP26 in it. Has the M86 and V8/turbo tail shaft and axles from new too. The development engineers confirmed that was the spec for LPi because of the additional torque. The only LPi I have found a Chinese ZF in was an FGX Ute.
Been watching Carnage since episode 1. Love this channel, so know my heart in it when I say the following...
1. Stop torturing yourself and ditch the LPG. No one is gonna complain after what you've accomplished.
2. Look after yourself, Scotty. We can all see endless heavy work is hard yakka. Maybe SM could find someone to help you out? Gotta be 100 young fellas/girls who jump at the chance.

Whoa to distort the radiator like that is a pretty good effort, l used to work for the mob that made the radiators for Barra’s . When you do a pressure test the B tube will always pop , the end p tank very rarely lets go. We did a good job brazing that one!

I, personally, have loved the Turbo Taxi idea ever since you originally got it and I'm so glad that you're continuing with it. Ace intro, Scotty!! On the subject of the exhaust, I fit my slip joints the other wat round... saves the system from being separated going forwards. Scroll in on the pics I sent you! Cheers .Leigh. Edit: is it not possible to remake the engine mount to let the turbo manifold fit?
As the owner of another ex-taxi (Vault or if you're being cheeky The Yellow Peril), it's exciting to see Turbo Taxi again.
Tip.
Many hydraulic jacks can be speed lifted by opening the release valve and pulling the ram into place.
Once in place you wait for a moment or two then close the valve.
This can save hours of pumping.

I had the same problem on a v6 turbo lpg. High boost and bad lpg cause’s detonation. Then rebuilt it and only used Bp lpg and never had a problem since. Now gone to 98.
this will never end ,that fuel is so inconsistent and when trying to squeeze it hard one tiny amount of lean out will result in another failure
You don't need to change the manifold - get rid of the ENORMOUS factory engine mount instead and chuck a Tuff Mounts kit in there.

The head can’t it gust be welded and then machined up
My other suggestion maybe leave all the bolts a bit loose
That will make it easier to get out next time 😂😂😂😂

Not too bad on the damage front then 👍 Well, aside from the damage to the wallet. For the head it should be able to be TiG welded and then skimmed. I've known other types of head have tig weld built up in the chamber to be machined back for a better combustion shape so can't see why that damage can't be fixed.
Hmm. just wondering if you ever looked into using the FG LPI injectors ?? I know that six wouldn't be enough and that they are a side feed . but at least they are generally reliable 👍👍
just weld the head it would be fine, I've seen Pro stocks which was missing a cly and Valves seats were missing had it welded and you wouldn't know it ever was repaired, amazing stuff think it was Tony Wedlocks TRE my memory serves me right been a while now but Peter Michaels did all the rebuild on it
Try start using holymer spray on your head gaskets. I know MLS say dont use anything but I started using it and haven't blown a gasket since.

This is a great challenge, you can do it ,would direct injection help keep head cool ?

But WHY did it blow the headgasket? Did cylinder 3 and 4 lean out? Did the 3 and 4 injectors fail?

i have a fg ute thats gass want turn it to petrol and turbo it but atm getting my l67 cammed and then i might start to get the items to petrol it
It blew a head gasket but why ? Forged pistons won’t stop it happening again ?
How about making a new steel mount with the Surport under not on the top to let you use the other exhaust not much cost there to let you use more money on the rest.

How's the debris when removing the flex plate bolts dead set looked like the threads coming out with the bolts

Flexplate is from VPW, it's an RTS billet flex plate. Bolts are ARP

Expanded radiator, significant water in the intake, caramel oil... Hmmm can't help but think we might have a slight head gasket leak.

What boost was this running? Can’t remember. Is it worth grouting and copper gasket with fire rings?
Don't know, sensor only reads to 29psi and it was flat at 29 from start to finish
How would you do the converter bolts with a seized motor
Good question. I imagine you would have to yank the trans straight off the converter and sacrifice the front trans seal, then come at it from the sides
No big shifter?
The series 1 BA Turbos were also 4 Speed BTR transmissions, Ford didn't introduce 6 speed until series 2.

What dif ratio are you running in turbo taxi? Also is the btr modified? My cars got a btr and cant say i like it a lot, stock

This would be the perfect time to convert the taxi to E85/ 98 octane fuel and remove the LPG system and as for the exhaust maybe go twin 2 1/2 pipes
Couple injectors went lean. did it run out of fuel pump, or did the injectors punk you? could individual EGT's possibly save that? I suspect not really as they aren't fast acting enough.
It LPG, there are no fuel pumps. That's part of the problem

Nah, I'm fine with it. The car was probably going to kill me if we keep pushing it.
Head gasket bin it get another engine..Some may disagree goes once it will happen again.
If you are gong down that path of upgrades then its time to dump the BTR 4-speed and put in a ZF 6-speed , that low 1st gear combined with the 3.45:1 diff ratio might be an issue traction wise off the line but the in gear acceleration from 2nd to 3rd will give you easily 0.5seccon difference.
Get that elusive 10s pass and ditch the LPG,
What happened to the Commo ute? Its was all systems go on that monster and now its disappeared.

It's more about reaching that goal of a 10 second pass on lpg. Turbo Taxi is the original, but I get what you mean. Maybe it's time to stick a single cam or a crossflow in it.

I’m not over the Barra but well and truly over the Barra Falcon type content on the net including LS Commodore stuff, it was nice seeing a Barra in a Mazda and the Trolvo also even the Lexen is pretty cool but for me seeing another Barra Falcon is a bit boring

E85 is the only way for the taxi.
Time for E85 mate, piss that LPG off. It's too inconsistent. You'd have run your 10's easily by now, with far less stress and workload on yourself. It was a cool goal to achieve however.
