For anyone who plans to use 3D for their work, remember to make a separate blender file for assets. Save things like Doors, wheels, windows and pillars. Whatever you think you're going to need to again to speed staging and bashing for a scene.
If you play around with hand-painted textures you can also get an idea for how different detail may look from different angles and experimenting with shaders/material can help with lighting. Awesome video! It’s always cool to see other artists experimenting with 3d and 2d
I'll learn that at some point, I honestly don't really enjoy the node based process in 3D since it just feels like i'm doing more math rather than art, but it'll still be cool to experiment with it! Thanks for checking the video out :D
@@jtuffdesigns Yeah it can be very intimidating but I would start with learning some basic toon shaders. But once you get it down it’s like photoshop layers except you can connect things in more varied ways than simply one on top of the other
Hi Have you tried Procreate. You can now draw and paint on 3D models within the program. You need to use obj or usdz files.
By the way Procreate is on only $13 usd with no ongoing subscriptions.
@@heartlandstudio6278 I haven’t used Procreate for 3d stuff yet (for only drawing and image editing) but I have used other 3d apps like blender, valence 3d and nomad sculpt. The last two are on the iPad 👀
Been loving all the recent videos, really appreciate the honesty around your process and showing the parts where you felt like you were struggling. A lot of times in tutorial videos we see highly edited footage that sometimes hides this side of it. Regardless if you are pro or just learning, we all have area's we want to improve and struggle with! Also, love the little tips that you have pop up throughout the process. You're a great teacher, keep up the awesome work!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your thoughts and kind words! I think it's easy to want to give off the impression of perfection to people, but that's exactly what led me to have an unhealthy expectation of what the process of art is supposed to be like. So I hope to be more transparent with it and help others realize that it's normal! Apprecaite you checking the video out and I hope they've been helping you out :)
I always look forward to your videos! Your artwork is incredible and your commentary is insightful. Feeling inspired to create after this!

That's really awesome to hear! It can take a bit of time to find a rhythm and workflow that works best for you but I hope that this gives you some ideas of when to use which medium :) All the best and thank you!

I am a graphic designer with training in 2D concept art and just started to incorporate 3D modeling into my workflow.
It is so great to find a designer sharing their work.
Curios what size (pixels) is the final render?
If this was done for a client I am sure they asked to see more. It’d be awesome to see more about this project.
Thank you! The canvas size is about standard A3 size that comes with default photoshop (4961x3508px)
Thanks you for this content 💜💜

Awesome!!
OooOOOoh 🔥🔥
thankkkkk uuuuuu
I’m glad I ran into your channel and this video. I’ll be honest with you , this was very helpful to me. I was running into a bit of a burnout trying to choose between my love with 3D modeling and concept art. The fact that you simplified both and in the end use the two to create this piece , it made my day. As cheesy as this sounds . So thank you , now I can go back and work on my portfolio. Instant sub for sure Looking forward to your next video , keep it going. And thank you truly .
Thank you for taking the time to comment such nice words, means lot to hear that! I hope that these vids give you the inspiration and confidence to integrate 3D more seamlessly with your concept art!
Useful tips and advice! What is this 3D software that you used?
Thank you! I used Blender for this :)
@@jtuffdesigns Ouhh, thanks man

Updated it, it should work now. Let me know otherwise!
@@jtuffdesigns thanks! I ended up finding it on your twitch lol
Isn't it funny to use 3D to make a concept, then in game production, concept is passed down to the 3D team to model?
@@tacticslc4805 then imagine someone doing a fan concept in 3D, it never ends!
