Duck Dodgers is a lovely Jump'n Run with nice levels and animations. What my nostalgia forgot to tell me is how annoying the controls could get. The recoil you get from every shot makes it hard to aim for the platforms. Shooting and Jumping is always tricky.
All of the Sunsoft Looney Tunes games have a few things in common: Floaty jumping, hidden walls, inexplicable floating platforms, and enemy attacks that you can't avoid. The graphics are always very good, though.
I really liked this game. Although the jumping feature is not very precise, and it can be very hard and annoying to try to land on small platforms or small ledges. Also, the shots can be hard to hit a target because of kickback. The controls take some getting used to. Otherwise, it is a very good action platform game. A definite hidden gem on the Super Nintendo. It is a very good game, but I just wish the controls played better.
I have no clue what it is with these looney toons games on SNES, but I had this, the road runner one and the bugs bunny one and their jumping and controls on all 3 games wasn't the sharpest. It felt slippery, floaty, and having to do lots of blind jumps hoping you land on a platform.
@@fmar.8311 A lot of "platforming" adventure games had similar issues. I noticed it more so on the Super-NES than my Sega Genesis system. Although Sega had their own issues as well.
Wow man just hearing that “hoo-hoo” at the beginning blasted me with goosebumps! This along with Mickey Mania and Lion King were among my favorite games back then 👍
You know theres somethings I can say about this game but I gotta love that the final fight is a actual one on one duel between Marvin and Daffy. Also if you pay attention to the boss fight in Amazonius, you can see the cut off point where the person making the sprite didn't draw the rest of Marvins body.
This was way too hard for me as a kid, but looking at the payoff of the ending now, I'm glad I didn't push through. I still own it as an adult, but I don't think I'll ever plug it in again based on what I've seen.
The recoil from every shot is just annoying, the jumping mechanic is flawed, but other than that its a good run and gun platformer and certainly better than the Road Runner's Death Valley Rally on the same console. Definitely worth a playthrough.

At times I wonder if Duck Dodgers 64 is actually ment to be a sequel to this game. After all DD64 was released not that long before Daffy's Duck Dodgers television series.
A very painful video to watch :( I love this game and seeing all the wasted ammunition and fuel was driving me mad :( Much better in long play though than a speed run as you get to actually see everything!
This had all the makings of a incredibly fun game. But as others have stated in previous comments, many of the Looney Tunes games had some spotty controls. I loved the graphics, and I was a HUGE FAN of Marvin the Martian and Duck Dodgers. Sadly a LOT of licensed games seemed to have these problems especially the movie adaptations, and especially from LJN. However I would still love to find this game for my Retro Gaming collection. Actually all of the classic cartoon character games are at the top of my list. Although I heard there's a Nintendo NES Flintstones game that carries an INSANELY HIGH PRICE TAG? 🤔 eBay can be a rip-off at times. So any help or input on this would be helpful.
The gamer’s code (left, left, right, right, up, down, Y, A, B, X) allows you legal access to a very large supply of money, 25+ continue gems, and at least 7 nutty attacks (max supply of nutty attacks= 7) it’s a really good code to have and use, trust me I have and I couldn’t truly have beat the game without it and even so only barely by the skin of my teeth Note: when you start the beginning of the game “Daffy Duck: the Marvin missions” enter this code the instant you see the intro to it’s first level “where there’s duck, there’s fire” until you hear Duck Dodgers say the word “mother” letting you know immediately that the code has successfully worked
Actually pretty fun game, gameplay is okay, difficulty not too hard in my opinion, except the bosses. What are these bosses. And how many hits do they take? Why can't these people balance it better. Especially Sunsoft. Some bosses in some games only take like 3 hits, and here it seems they take 300. It's frustrating when you worked your way through a stage, and it's the boss what messes with you everytime.
Was someone recording this while drunk? I know it’s not supposed to be a perfect run or anything but they’re like running right into enemies, missing simple jumps, wasting ammo constantly and back tracking randomly lmao
You are right. This is one of my first LPs i recorded and it looks bad at times. Meanwhile I played over 600 more and got way better with the overall presentation. :-)

More like jump and walk two inches, raise shield, walk two more inches, raise shield. This game is hard for the wrong reasons.
@Ben Dreis Save states might make it a bit more tolerable. I have it on the actual hardware and... yeah.
@@hewakens It could be worse. It could be old Megaman games.
The sound effects are burned into my brain having played this game so much as a kid
Yeah, this thing is soo addictive
The “ooohhhhhhhh!” the villains used to say when they died used to make me laugh so hard as a kid 🤣
Omg me too, me and my best friend always remembered the noises
😂😂😂👍🏻
Me too
I like that too
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
God, I played this when I was a child. Amazing that I found it here on TH-cam again
Same here 🙂

I remember taking an chance and renting this game. I never forgot it. Think about it every now and then
One of my fave games of the era! This game was ahead of its time.
This game is So Nostalgic!

Basic enemies that take at least a half dozen hits.
And no passwords or saves most of the time
Damn dude, this is fuckin nostalgic, this was my first videogame.
Bought this today and determined to beat this painstakingly great little game...

its really tough
