Shane doesn't want to get fired because kid has issues and stats that say "all time bad". This isn't really hard and it's AR's best chance to not flame out right now. Some people say "he needs snaps", some say "young QB's should sit to learn". This one should sit to learn and it's not hard to see. It's obvious.
I think he said holy crap this guy’s gonna get me fired. He didn’t want to wait around for a guy who wasn’t putting in the effort during the week game-planning.
@@deangulberry1876 If I had to guess, in a few weeks a ESPN report will come out with anon sources around the Colts basically laying out some version of "he's not taking this seriously enough".
@@colinburroughs9871 local colts media is reading into Coach Steichen’s interview a lot. And the new popular opinion this morning was basically what you said: he doesn’t have the work ethic needed to deserve a seasons-long development process. Also some vague rumors of off-the field stuff outside of the colts.
He is in his second year and he still looks like he needs 2-3 years to actually grow into someone resembling a QB. Steichen cannot "give him snaps" at this point in the season. AR needs to sit and learn. A few years ago, AR is a player they draft in the later rounds as a project that the team develops slowly -- not in Top 5 picks of the draft.
It feels like Shane got tired of not being able to do what he wants because he has a QB who is incapable of running the offense he envisions. If you are all in on AR, you have to tailor your offense to give him the best chance to succeed. Steichen appears unable or unwilling to do that. One of the people I follow (I can't remember who or I would credit them) who cover the Colts said Shane and AR bring out the worst in each other. I think that is the best analysis of the situation I have heard.
I hope you follow up with how the team is taking this? as a long time Flacco fan I remember when the Ravens weren't happy with Joe It made it very hard to win. Bottom line, Joe is a Winner Shane isn't yet.
AR is what he's always been, a running back that can heave the ball down the field but with little accuracy. It's what he did in h.s., it's what he did in college but the difference is now he's going up against the best of the best and facing complicated defenses. AR couldn't read high school level defenses!
I just read an article that said the colts may be done with Richardson. Source: Horseshoe Heroes I for one hope so. Even as a project starting games he should have a better QBR than 58. His completion percentage is horrid. It's not because of a few drops either.
When you a leader of 52 other grown a** men, who are expected to be out there no matter what, you don't tap out. Leadership 101. Leaders don't tap out on the team.
It's considered taboo because it hints at comfort. Starting positions are limited and no one who is playing would prefer to let someone else take their spot, especially at QB. His teammates were tired also but they can't sub out because they're the best player at their position on this roster and if they sub out they're sabotaging not only their opportunity to succeed but their teammates as well. RB/WR/TE rotate based on fatigue because they need to run well to execute plays. QB/OL basically never rotate because those positions can execute plays while exhausted.
QB is probably the least exerting position, even if A rich was doing some running. Half the time your back there, standing and lobbing passes or handing off to the back. So that's why a lot of people also took issue with it.
benching young qb's rarely results in any improvement. Colts will probably be drafting or looking for another qb next year. Just cut your losses and move on.
Why would you draft a QB with basically no playing experience at all if you weren't willing to ride the ups and downs? Just don't draft him if you're not committed to the process. Or if you do and you don't have any appetite to take your lumps, then don't frickin' start him right away and let him sit behind a bridge QB for a couple of years. Starting him and then benching him just signals that he failed. The Colts aren't going anywhere with Flacco, it's such a pipe dream lol.
SCAPEGOAT DYSFUNCTIONAL FRANCHISE Let this fan base suffer in mediocrity with band aid after band aid til they figure out to hit irsay in his pockets. Should of happened 6 yrs ago after they destroyed Lucks career and got us in this mess. Wonder why we never see Luck ever or manning unless he's celebrating a teammate
You take on a project, then get scared 10 games in...lol Flacco was out of the league for a reason. So, there is no win here. Just ig ire the years he stunk it up in Baltimore....he will when a few, then he will start throwing dirt balls again. Just like Dalton, same nonsense.
I think this is Irsay more than anything. He is obsessed with mediocrity and getting to 8-9,9-8. His ego was shot when everyone was making fun of AR and his bad performance. I want the daughters to take over next year.
" we'll get to the Future when we get to the Future."
That's the greatest quote I've ever heard.

This smells like the Bryce Young situation but anyway Go Ravens!!!

its not hard to understand why he was benched. Richardson making the same mistakes again and again. Playing isn't developing him. No improvement.
I feel like there’s more to this decision behind the scenes…

Richardson was put in a good situation for a young qb, one of the best offensive lines, a good rb and good receivers.
He should have been drafted in the 8th round

This is what happens when you draft a QB in the top 5. When they should have been drafted in the 5th round.
How does that change anything?
They're top 5 picks because of their potential to be stroud or Jayden.
Idiot Seattle was gonna take him at 5
@keith96969wish they would've

We aren't losing faith in AR we are just benching him because we don't think he can win BUT we haven't lost faith
I still don't have a problem with AR asking to be subbed out.

I don’t either but he should have faked a concussion or called a timeout the fallout is too much

Smh 🤦♂️
AR-Take-5 will need to improve significantly before the other 52 players trust him to get back out on the field.

it works almost as much as rewarding ineptude. Richardson did absolutely nothing to earn a starting job
He didnt explain anything. He always says "That's a great question." Then says nothing
Because he is smart.
Ok let's just push it off till next year🤦🤦 unless the plan is to have Richardson play next year trying to get Manning

This guys is a clown. How quickly we forget Peyton Manning set the nfl record for interceptions in his first season. Colts were I believe 1-15.
