Forgot to mention that I think buying rank 6/7 talismans when they go on sale is the way to go. You can get talismans in several trees and a lower tier SL grinder for the cost of a single high rank premium.

As an old guard player, definitely this. I do still grind some shit, but the game IS different when you play because you want to, and not because you need to

Here's a helpful tip for surviving longer: always be aware of your surroundings, especially in the top tier. If you're not looking behind you, above you, and to your sides, you're as good as dead in the higher tiers.

Also don't overlook the benefits of spading a vehicle. Unlocking all modifications can give you up to a quarter of the required RP to unlock a vehicle in the same tier.

A spaded plane will always be better than its un spaded counterpart.

That last bit about not playing often, not having premium, and not playing good resonates with me so much, I've been playing since mid-2016 and at level 74 but i still have yet to get my first jet, this was due to me being overambitious. Back then I wanted to grind all nations so I always switch vehicle to vehicle and doing terribly with them, that and having no premium as well as not playing often (only on weekends and for only about 3 hours each day) slowed my grind so much that it wouldn't make a difference even if I just don't play at all, AND on top of that the PC I played with was terrible, an AMD A8 with integrated graphics is just not enough to get even 25fps most of the time, let alone 30, this was also in addition to the internet problems with the Wi-Fi continuously disconnecting at random, that plus the fact that it was a shared family PC that was used most of the time, I might as well just quit War Thunder at that point, and I did.
I left War Thunder in late 2020, because there's no point playing anymore, most of my nations are stuck at late tier III - early tier IV and I kept losing money for every battle and so I left. It wasn't until a year later in 2022 that I started playing again after getting my own PC that can actually play War Thunder, but I still didn't play that much due to school and still kept the weekend schedule, but now I only grinded 5 nations total (US, Germany, Soviet, Japan, and France) compared to everything before that, it was still slow but it was better than before, however about a year later in 2023 I realized that this wouldn't be sustainable so now I only played Soviet with an emphasis on the air tree. I am now researching the Il-28 👍

Your experience is pretty normal. I think most players see the ads for exciting high tier vehicles and go, "Cool, I want to play that" then they start the game in biplanes, or if they bought a high tier premium pack, get slaughtered over and over. Then realize, its going to take literal man-YEARs of playing to actually get to that vehicle that got them interested in the game. Insert rage quit here. lol

And its not an accident. The game is very intentionally designed to create this Stockholm Syndrome, where it makes it hard, rejects you, and then you buy in when it accepts you and gives you rewards.

Otherwise I have no idea for aircraft, every "big" name has been covered many times, while obscure planes are usually obscure for a reason.
Or if you're EXTRA bored, up to date bombing chart, how much bombs of what tonnage per base at what BR?
@@Panocekyeah that’s a great idea imo. A video that tells us how many bombs of each side for each br ( I believe that the number of bombs isn’t the same at top tier and at low tier)
Longer matches typically mean better results. Rushing allows mistakes and doesnt allow you to focus on watching for someone to let their gaurd down. On grb it is a good strat to turn off you engine and wait for someone to slip up, drive past you, and show their weakpoints. If a shot seems like its sketchy, wait. And lastly, dont die if you can afford not to.
It's also probably over looked, but if the grind gets too tedious, go back to vehicles that you haven't aced. The rewards for tiers of mods and fully researching the mods on a vehicle may be low but it all adds up. Gives a chance to change play style amd also get into so really fun matches if you squad up with some mates
That's what I do when new top tier are coming out... I ground the mods except on tin each rank on several vehicles, and then grind them out when the vehicle comes out.
I know you are probably right, but I grinded a majority of the USA tree by only ground pounding with my AD-4. Even on a loss, I would be getting 20-30 ground targest destroyed and loads of RP and lions rewards. I know its bad to not go straight for the victory, however for me ground pounding is the only guarenteed way for me to get through my tech trees.
ur not wrong, when ur in a fighter theres only a chance that u will get at least 1 kill the entire game
i got the mig17as a few years ago, and i’ve loved it since. even in the age of harriers, starfighters, and god forbid the a10 or a6, i still average 2-3 kills a match, and often make north of 100k sl and 15k rp, with a premium acc ofc. it’s also just a blast because it’s a classic dog fighter, that can outsmart those shinier, missile wielding planes a lot of the time. i’ve ground out basically the entire russian air try, and over the past 3 days i’ve went from not having the first yak 3 to almost finishing the yak38, and starting the 141 (which unfortunately i can’t use my mig17 on because it’s rank 8). so i totally agree, find something that’s fun so grinding doesn’t feel like grinding, it’s just having fun dogfighting the enemy or whatever you enjoy

I'm a ground player, and I just find the Air grind excruciating. In ground I have at least BR 8.0 or higher in most nations, but for air, I have up to the F-104 in US.
My typical prop plane ARB battle goes as follows: Spend at least 5 minutes getting to altitude, get a bunch of hits/critical hits, no kills, get out turned AND outran by a BF-109 or something, back to hangar, rinse and repeat.
Early jets: Spend 5 minutes getting up to speed. Pray I don't get rammed in a head on. Get 1 kill, lose all speed in a gentle turn, get run down by something faster. Rinse and repeat.
F-104: YOU WANNA SEE SOME REAL SPEED?!?!?... oh you turned, i'll see you in 3 months when I complete my orbit around the Earth. Maybe I'll stop by the airfield since my AIM-9Bs detonated with a "hit" but no actual damage.
US Planes get good at rank 7, everything after that is broken

props, yeah the beginning is a boring climb but then you gotta know your planes and if you can't turn a bf109 then you should fight energy (that's usually the US planes' domain)
early jets still play like props a little in that they use altitude as energy. you also don't need to stick every head-on and 180 for the first guy. Also the distances and speeds increase while the guns range stays the same, so you get less time on target
f104 is a special plane, but just staying fast makes you basically invulnerable as long as you don't let someone with rockets on your 6 within range.
@@aninnocent1544 I mean, you're not wrong it's a skill issue, never said it wasn't, just that the skill issue : enjoyment ratio isn't there for me. Like for tanks, especially when I first started playing (and arguably until I got to at least BR 10 with 2 nations) I still had fun, even when I sucked. With tanks, you can fuck up and learn your tanks multiple times per battle. With air? You fuck up and it's easily 5 minutes before you're back in the action, especially with early props. And AAB doesn't really count for emulating that experience (even though AAB has more interesting maps) because all planes handle like super planes.
And yeah, I know how to play the F-104. The F-104, and my somewhat recently unlocked A-4E at least bring me some measurement of joy for ARB finally. But props is still agonizingly slow.
If you don't like planes don't play then, get some top tier AA instead. Yes CAS give a lot of money, but it's not wroth if you don't have fun, or if your team lose because there's not enough tanks on ground.

I personally grinded the A7k from the repair factory event by playing the April fools event. I brought premium time and it is so worth it.
My best tip is *get better at the game*
Some planes can net you 3-4 kills every game consistently, and the difference between this and 1 kill per death is huge. Just remember what to do for every situation. Just remember what the correct move is, and do that. Focus on staying alive more and do everything you can to stay in the match. Don't take too big risks, like getting into sustained dogfights in early game, even if you really want the kill right now-play it safe and correctly.

@wapniak666 That's always an option for every player. There are more options to win than people think. But most players are too impatient, and don't try to think enough about why they died, and instead choose to get pissed while they start the next match. This also causes them to play in an impatient and aggressive way where they attack and turn towards everything they see, causing them to die over and over again.
Every player can be a pro, but people aren't as willing to learn or have the discipline to try to actually get good.

However, it is completely false that plenty of players have reached their peak. Plenty of players just aren't trying hard enough or let their emotions get the best of them. Every single person who doesn't suffer from an actual mental disability can play like DEFYN. Everyone can get good at this game. There is probably a theoretical upper limit as to where the difference in people's brains and neurochemistry make up for a hereditary difference that you can't do anything about, but that is WAY up there. People aren't playing anywhere close to their best, and that's fine because many people just want to play casually, and don't care much for getting top tier or anything. Others want it and just pay for premium vehicles to cheat their way up there. That's completely fine as well. But if you're really serious about grinding tech trees and progressing to newer vehicles, then you have to apply yourself.

You have to be joking, this is impossible, majority of playerbase wont be able to reach that level of skill no matter how much time and effort they put
we can clearly see that in pretty much EVERY single game with ranked mm, in which people actually try to improve, players like DEFYN are top 1% if not top 0,1% and average person playing the game is not able to match that

I’m surprised you didn’t say anything about boosters, orders, or wagers. I normally focus on spading planes instead of using premiums for research grinding, so I only recently realized I spent years using SL boosters on tech tree planes when I could have used them all on my Fw 190C premium and had millions more SL than I do now.
Orders are useful, particularly the AAA orders, which aren’t nearly so luck-based as the others and give a huge SL boost for player kills in a few minute long time frame, and the most intense PvP moments of any game usually fall in such a time frame anyways, so as many AAA orders you have are basically just 200% SL boosters (and Antimech for ground forces too).
Finally, Wagers are good for reasonably quick SL in a pinch, too. Particularly kill 5 units, kill 10 units, and battle victory wagers in my experience.

Ya know, I took many of these tips to heart and now I am closing in on the Yak-141 by using the Su-25K, something I absolutely enjoy grinding with. Hopefully, by the end of this summer event I will have long reached that.

My tip is that if you've been grinding and feel like the more you grind the worse you are, it's one of two things: Tilt, a phenomena where the longer you play and the angrier you get at a game makes you play worse, or in War Thunder's specific case, as you get better planes your battle rating goes up and you're fighting players who may or may not have more experience with these new planes than you. This is not too bad if you grind one jet and take a break but continual grinding means you're going up in BR without giving yourself enough time to adapt to the new skill curve, therefore you begin selling HARD. So my tip is to grind, and play at your new BR for a few days, grind, BR, grind, BR.
Little advice for Arcade Low tier
Use planes from the ground attackers tech tree (not heavy bombers/bombers, I mean planes like the LaGG-38-3) because of how fast they can turn from bombing to attack
Don't use extremely heavy bombs but also not extremely light. In lower tier (about 1.7 BR) the best bomb you can get is probably the SC250 (big range, powerful) for Germany, USSR is probably the FAB-100 because it doesn't affect much on the plane and it is the heaviest bomb you can get on a Soviet light bomber
Alot of these things that are mentioned should be taken to heart because it works, i previously played super infrequently and was not amazing at the game because i was not exactly consistent or aware, i simply had a chronoc skill issue, i eventually made it to swedish top tier free to play after 700hours. I then went to america i was having issues getting through the early tiers, so i went to youtube to improve both my knowledge and skill, defyn being prolly the best to watch, i improved and spent time fixing my errors and eventually made it back to tier 3, by which point there was the xp 50 in the warbond shop, which i got and i went to tier 4 quickly with a near 1.5 k/d (kd isnt everything so it doesnt matter if its not over 1 or whatever) and i made it to the p51 H, by far my favorite tier 4 prop, i steamrolled with super consistent games where i lived to the end due to a slower playstyle, prioritising positioning over easy Ju 288 kills so i could get people who were a threat to my team like he 162s and ta 152 etc. Most games ended with me having 2+ kills and being 1 of the last teammates alive. Early jets were easy but as i got to the mid tier jets such as the f3h i had grinded up to that point in 140 hours, the f3h is VERY situational so i had very bad matches frequently but on the odd occasion i survived with 3+ kills missles only.
I stuck too long with the f3h and ended up dying nearly triple as much as i killed a player (mostly due to one: a skill issue. And two: f3h having bad missles, no flares, bad energy retention etc and faces mig 21s every match which curbstomp you every time.
After trudging through 220k research in 2 days, i had the f8u, which is where i currently am, i am doing well consistently due to its countermeasures and flight perdormance, where after about 5 hours am nearly 3 quarters of thw way through the stock grind

i agree with most of this. i just finished japan at 142 games played and i used the F4EJADTW of which was provided free from a friend who lost a bet. i've also got the french tree finished at 149 games using the milan which i got on sale for like 30-35 bucks and a 1/2 off talisman on the event jaguar E. i'm 4 airplanes away from finishing israel using an a4e i got on sale 1/2 off and next time the talismans are on sale ima grab one for the kafir c2 to round out israel :) for america i used the F5C for over 6.5m rp earned out of the 10m you need for the entire tree....and i used the su7 and su22m3 with talisman for the entire russian tree.

ive been trying to grind the German air tree, im not much of an air player so my dogfighting skills are shit. I've been trying to get a good jet for ground support, im mostly a tanker main, but I love doing cas just because its satisfying, lately I have been doing bombing runs thats slightly helping, but im now at 8.0 where bombing is limited, if any tips please let me know thanks.

It is easily the most difficult to learn game mode I have ever learned in a game. I love it, bit that shit is only for diehards and nerds lol.
In the past I used to grind using bombers in arcade. It was big money and rp, and when I died I had a bunch of planes to do some fun pvp. My record was 100k SL without premium active.
Bombers got nerfed so my second grind method was killing CAS in air RB. At first I would use the BF109 G2, then I started using the G6 for faster grind. That worked until I reached rank 6, then I literally broke (got to around 6k SL after unlocking the CL16).
Now I gave up and bought a premium on sale. Not the best one, I got the F4J(UK) because a friend also bought it and said it was good. But it has been fun trying to learn it and also how to top tier. The best part is that matches are a lot faster than lower brs so even when I die multiple times in a row I still get a little of money.

Having fun is the most important thing, if i'm grinding top tier it's fighter first and bombs second. If a plane can't carry a good missile load there's not going to be much fun to be had after you've bombed a base. It's like the new F111, it's not a good fighter but it's still a lot of fun with its absurd canon and awful missiles
Gotta say I've only ever received 1 day of premium time twice from crates and have never made a single purchase in this game , I have 1200 hours in war thunder but I'm only level 55 and have the f104 A at 9.3 as my highest br vehicle in planes and the super pershing at 6.7 in tanks it takes at the very least 4 days of 30 + matches a day just to grind a single plane in Air RB and it sucks to have no premium time.

@@Wyk_ I agree 100%. The issue here is that most people's problem is not having premium time. Too many pride themselves on playing f2p games completely "free". Like it's an accomplishment or something.
@@reitairue2073 but this actually is a acomplishment in war thunder, the f2p life in this game is almost impraticable, wwar thunder is broken in a point where to have a playable difficulty (related about economy and research) you have to pay for it, the dumb thing is support abusive pay to win games like that, pay the full price of most games around there, in a single vehicle that has no justification for its prices, and that only ruins everyone else games, that, that is dumb, you know what? i would say its im pressive that gaijin didnot killed the game yet, but the case is that there is no competitors to them yet, thats the only reason a game like this is alive

you forgot to mention that if u wanna have a starter plane of some nations just get into squadron and just play the game casually to grind it and then start full sweat mode grind of the planes tree of that nation
So I've grinded 3 nations only in GRB, tanks, and planes. Without premiums at rank 3, and 6 would have been impossible in 3 months. It would help if you also had lineups with a fighter and bomber.
Unfortunately, the goblin in my brain makes me research and spade every plane that I possibly can. It's a painful existence, but at least I don't have to worry about grinding down the tech tree. No matter how I go about it, I'll get there eventually.
Only two left with Italy, but I'm not looking forward to the Tornado ADV.
one thing i realized recently is that if i don't enjoy the grind i perform worse and get sick of the game quickly, i bought the F-4S and played it for maybe 60 games but i hated it, but i already had some rank 6 jets (from before buying the F-4S i played the game for years and stopped for a couple and bought the F-4S when i returned to it so supersonic jets were already new to me add to that facing top tier with an mediocre jet), instead of torturing myself i just tried some of the planes i had and really enjoyed playing some of them, so i uesd them to grind the next tier and grinded the next tier with some of those planes as well, no talismans or anything just premium account, i really regret buying the F-4S and i recommend you don't buy trank 7 premium jets because aside from the ridiculous price if you just play the premium one you'll miss out on many great jets in the tech tree
I bought the f4s, learned top tier in it. Farmed the whole us tree, learned Radar modes and tracking. Had an absolute blast in it. The f14b fits after hundred of games in the f4s like a suite to me. Im still usinh the f4s to grind some sl and play with friends. Absolute joy, cant understand your comment. Its even versatile af with the gunpod and bombs for bombing. Luv it

I've been grinding with my SPS-K because I only have a few jets left and my German air tree is done, but god it's been tedious. With all the A-10s and A-6s, I can handle the old names of 10.0 but I can't handle the new P2W packs, they need to completely restructure the Brs instead of doing slight changes every other update, I'm sure if they do a big restructuring it'll be fair and more balanced for a longer time instead of what we have currently
I also have to touch on how difficult the Star events are now. Unless they're bringing back the old star events 40k mission points every 2 days is asking way too much of casual or the average player

The milan is one of the print money machine. Fast enough to get a free base and get out, if the game go great for your team, you can easy get 5 base and earn 100k sl and 20-30rp per game.
Hi f2p player pf WT with 2.6k hours spent in game. Skill well I'm a joe average. I managed to find out that it is also decent to turn off your repairs after the game. Since the new economy has arrived and hopefully for the better get at least 3 kill game with a tier 2 prop that will be almost enough to compensate for an around 7br jet. Similar stuff to tanks but atm due to shit crews I'm playing tanks mostly in arcade. Also when using a low tier prop and you are shot down just leave it to self repair in one of the slots and jump to another prop or another nation. So shoot several planes get shot down next plane and repeat. Use props and tanks of tier 3+ to do the tasks and challenges 150 kills etc so you can get more points on battle pass.

I think bombing with something like the F-4s is worth it at top tier. If you can get your bombs out on bases you’re getting ~7,000 RP. Getting 2 kills is only like ~2500 RP. Definitely worth trying to bomb when you can.

I tend to prefer bombers/strike/CAS aircraft but I'm acutely aware of how vulnerable these are to A2A fighters and interceptors. I'm just looking at coming back to WT after a very long hiatus and so much has changed/been added I'm honestly unsure where to begin. A friend has mentioned wanting to do sim stuff in the longer term and he's a USA player, as such I'm a little unsure if I need to play USA to ensure we can play the sim mode in the long run or if I could play as a different nation.
This isn't plane's but I bought an XM-1 GM and have been grinding out the American tech tree. Did I struggle because I was only tier 3 at the time? Yes, but I learned out to use it and got better. It just takes time and commitment
I’m grinding Sweden air and ran out of premium time at rank six and have the j35a but it’s still brutal with the su25 spam
I just lost my account due to a hacker and the gaijin support is doing absolutely nothing but wasting my time. I told them I’ve only ever played on playstation and they are asking me about my computer specs. Someone logged in on computer and the support page thinks it’s me 🤷♂️. Anyone have advice?

Anyone know how his game is showing which version of planes they are well before they're in range? Like that A10A [E] (Early, aka premium) instead of [L] for tech tree variant? Seems extremely useful when coming across the 36281 version of MIGs.. thanks in advance!

Do you have any tips for people who are mostly tank players but wants to grind some top tier jets in order to have a stronger lineup ( for RU, US, GER and UK ) ? Basically to allow them to do CAS / Air Superiority against the enemy team.
Literally what he says, either grind an event vehicle to grind with. Or buy a premium on sale. Think of it as an investment to save your time. Do the math, what is your time worth.
By the way t-2 is the best option for japanese. Get into simulator battle and you will notice you have one of best radar in 9.7. So when the day tells you it is 8.7-9.7 day for simulator air battle. Jump in and have fun.

I struggled to come to t7 in german tree and just bought Mig lazur for full price and maybe its a bit expensive but i made 4 Mio SL (Premium account) with it in 4 days so think it was worth . Everything for the MIG 29 😅

Everyone told me to get the f5c so I did, considering its trash missles its only purpouse is to get gun kills. Not that hard but I have to return to base often as the plane has only 560 ammo💀
Ok, i grinding the Soviet line Rn, i Got the Su-25 (the first one, from tech tree) and i like it, R-60M is a good missile in this rank but not above it, im stuck at the MiG-21F-13 cuz i need more planes to rankup, im at Su-9 rn, using my IL-28Sh to farm cuz its good with gun pods and 2+ Tons of bomb, If you Destroy one base when the gane starts and back, takeoff again and bomb another base, lucky enough with gun pods u can smash at Chinese IL-28 (H-5), German IL-28, Chinese T-4, The B-29 and B-57/Camberra and farm some points

"Don't rely on bombing" is extremely subjective. From this video it's clear he is firmly on the "only fighters should exist" camp or at least prefers if everyone just fights each other. Thing is you should be able to play the game how you like too and if CAS is waht you prefer then cas is how you will play. Still gives good RP and SL. Winning or getting kills is just more efficient if a bit more risky since you can also get killed and earn nothing while CAS is an easy 15 ground target kills + a base and maybe a kill on whatever tries to head on you. Its allot of safe SL and RP.
im late but best thing to grind now is boosts for 2,3,4 kills just do 2-3 sometimes 4kills in match and u can earn 50-60% more rp if u have average player and 80-100% more for better players

I started grinding Japan, and I do not know what my game plan is for my first jet. Apparently Japan does not have good end game? Is what I am hearing. I'm new to the game so I do not know which jet to go for in the Japan tech tree
Japan has some good stuff at rank V. But the planes at rank VI and VII are bad (T-2, F-1, F-104J, F-4EJ all suck). Then at rank VIII you have the F-16AJ which is great.
So if you want to go past rank 5, its gonna be tough.

I love the Milan. But it's hard and to be honest, I just love it because there can be that ONE round where you just destroy everything and then there are like 99 rounds before where you get destroyed

I just play for fun/to improve.

I have only touched low tier props and I am a ground RB player. I want to grind a plane tech tree. Do you recommend someone like me to get a tier 6 or 7 premium jet to help grinding the tree or is that a little too early to buy? Since I am literally buying myself nearly to toptier in an instant.
There's a lot of good fundamental skills you can learn at lower tiers but there's also a lot about jet combat that's different, and these days there's so many people buying high rank premiums off the bat the lobbies are full of new players anyway. It's gonna be a relatively steep learning curve but if you're willing to put in the effort it's not the end of the world, and for grinding a tech tree for CAS it's the most efficient way.

You're the first YTer that actually said what I was trying to advocate for years. If you can't grind that well, the market is your friend. Patience will allow you to grind and get enough Gaijin coins to buy a pack on sale. That's how I got my CV90105.
The issue is i have no way of spending money even if i want to because there's no way of using my currency in this game .
