Wow! I don't think I would ever consider a bluetooth headphone, but your review has changed my mind. You have never steered me wrong, so these are now on my list!!! Thanks Dave, You Rock! 👍👍👍
I haven't been into headphones in a while. Your review really caught my attention. Now I am considering these bluetooth headphones for use around the house.
Awesome review! I listened to every minute of it. 👍👍 Btw, edifier also released the Stax Spirit S10 earbuds with planar magnetic drivers. Even though they're much smaller than the S5, they come with a lot more features. 😅 I would love to hear your take on them. 😊
I have the Spirit S3. It is great, but the frame sounds like your typical Halloween crypt door opening as creaky as it is. Sounds like the 5 doesn't have that issue. Great to know. Another fabulous review as always. I
Great review. You touched on how the passive noise isolation isn't fantastic but how well do they keep music *in* so you won't be bothering people around you in an environment like a relatively quiet office?
Thanks Dave. I’m loving the capabilities of Bluetooth headphones nowadays, they are really starting to keep up with a wired connection. Might be time to start losing the cables 🤐
Ps--- how well is the volume level controlled. Is it easy to adjust,or is it notchy--- I mean, some go from listenable but if you try to go for a little more, it is way too much.
One if the best Bluetooth headphones when it comes to volume control that I've experienced. It is stepped well making it easy to adjust. The HEAVYS have a knob turn that is slightly better.
I don't normally have any issues with pad seals on headphones while wearing glasses. The S5 I had no issues at all. Very few headphones cause issues for me.
I've spent the last 7 years looking for a better Bluetooth headphone than my B&W P7 wireless. I've never replaced them, they sound awesome. I wonder if these are the first BT wireless that are better than my P7 wireless that would be an upgrade for me
Im currently using Edifier WH950NB on The customize mode is set it to flat(+On my phone i use Poweramp equalizer with the sound profile of ATH L5000) and the sound is quite good and can be use for critical listening to some extend. I have my plan on upgrade to Stax spirit s3(its price on sale is about 120 USD) i mainly listening to Orchestra Symphony and pop on occasion And i also practicing on mixing and making music Is the stax spirit s3 going to be worth it or should i just go with standards like MDR 7506, ATH M50x, DT 770 pro and etc.
I would still take the HD660s2 over the S5 unless I was in a portable use situation or wanted a closed back listening session. The S5 is very good with tone, timbre, details and resolution for a bluetooth headphone but it isn't quite on par as the HD660s2 as a reference headphone for me.
Totally different technology. The AR5000 is great in its own right but the S5 in wired mode is better detailed, resolving and has a little better note weight. The AR5000 has a wider stage.
Will the r70x be driven properly with Fiio ka13 (550 mW at 32 ohms), or will it be enough with the VE Megatron? I could get the r70x for very cheap at around 130$ but they need soo much power
I haven't heard the KA13. The KA17 on balanced output would be able to drive the R70X fairly well. I recommend a desktop setup for them for the ultimate performance as they are harder to drive though.
GM ☕️🍩 This looks like you’ve found a 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄 With Christmas coming up (yes,it’s a tad early) ..now if they made this in a higher end wired headphone (better build) ..they could give HiFiman a definite run for the money! Have a blessed weekend ☕️

Interesting. Yeah the S5 is still plastic but doesn't creak, as of yet after a few months of use.
Good to see u Dave ..best reviewer on TH-cam thanks 🙏

I didn't have that ability to test in an office setting. But my wife didn't complain about hearing my music while I was sitting next to her.
@@TheHonestAudiophile I’ll have to give these a try then. Thanks!
Look forward to hearing your impressions.
Nice review! Have you tried other edifier sets? I feel like their tuning is a little better than other brands in the same arena.
I haven't but I hope to.
am trying to decide between the S5, the Maxwell, and the AKG N9 Hybrid, thanks for the review
Sorry haven't heard the Maxwell or N9 Hybrid.
How does it compare with the Focal Bathys wireless headphones?
Sorry haven't heard the Focal Bathys
Is it the Same Stax brand that used to make electrostatic headphones?
Yes, Edifier has owned Stax since 2012.
@@TheHonestAudiophile wow that's new to me.

They are getting there for sure, still a few limitations to overcome.
Hey Dave, how do you like them compared to the focal Bathys?
Sorry, haven't heard the Focal Bathys.

Do you have any problems with seal wearing glasses? My favorite over ear headphones won't seal with my glasses on, then I can't read anything.

Hey do you like these more than the 660s2? And are these technically a better headphone sound wise

They want you to think this is electrostatic 😅
It has some of that familiar Stax sound for sure but it is not as airy and wide as electrostatic.
