    Professional mechanic here (not an armchair mechanic so I guess there's no wrath to be incurred) - that adjustable wrench you were using is a perfectly respectable tool, provided you turn it in the right direction. If you turn it in the direction of the movable jaw (the opposite of how you were turning it) it will, by design, tighten its grip. Turning away from the movable jaw will loosen its grip and risk stripping fasteners, which is how adjustable wrenches have unfairly gotten their reputation as a sub-par tool. It's not the tool's fault, it's how the tool is used. Turned toward the movable jaw, you can apply @ssloads of torque without worrying about causing damage. If someone gives you grief over the use of an adjustable wrench it's because they don't understand the basic operating principles. I wish you many happy years of wrenching (but please, please turn it the other way).

      Right? I was more worried about the fact he didn't unplug the 02 sensor before disconnecting it. Always unplug the 02 sensor before removing it because the plug in connection doesn't spin like the sensor side does and it can break the wiring inside the line. The tool wasn't the issue at all lol

      I actually discovered this the hard way when i was a teenager. I was using an adjustable wrench the wrong way on a very stubborn bicycle wheel nut because it had a longer handle than my socket wrench and i didn't have a pipe to jerry-rig the socket wrench into a breaker bar. as i applied more force i saw the adjustable jaw start to bend a bit and pull up out of the channel where the threading sits (gotta love that chinesium) right before the wrench slipped off the nut and my hand flew across the chain and rear sprocket. a nearly broken wrench (had to slam the tip of the jaw against the garage floor to make it work properly again) and a bloody knuckle later, and i had learned my lesson lol. after that i was like, "oh yea that makes sense, i'm putting more force on the moving jaw than the static jaw doing it this way". been doing it the right way ever since except on rare specific low-torque applications where the angle of the jaws doing it backwards help get the wrench on the nut.

    I love loud bikes but man after riding on a loud bike for years and then getting my new bike sv650 with stock exhaust is amazing. Its so quiet, i dont get head aches on long rides anymore. And the loud bikes dont really get along with the cops around here. Still love loud pipes. But stock is much more comfortable in my opinion.

  • @meth3rlence
    @meth3rlence 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Was the exact same for the MT07... The stock pipe was absolutely atrocious - put an akrapovic on it and it's a totally different bike, a damned good one.

  • @rogerf7265
    @rogerf7265 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason that bikes come with such quiet exhausts is because they not only have to meet the latest EPA and Euro exhaust emissions standards they also have to meet noise standards as well. It’s not that they don’t like the sound they are required to work within the certification standards to be able to sell them.

    *Mod suggestions* :
    - Shorter round headlight
    - Metal crosswire headlight guard
    - front mud guard that sits below the headlight rather than on the wheel itself (like the Desert Sled)
    - More grippy foot pegs for light off roading (still with rubber inserts for street use)
    - Small round bar end mirrors (if you want to go for a more retro street biased build)
    - Slim esthetically retro matching LED blinkers front and rear
    - Small sun guard for the instrument cluster that sits above/behind the headlight
    - Potentially spoked wheels with large knobbies if you want to go more into the dirt track potential
    ..
    - Ahegao hentai sticker bombing of the tank! Just do it for the memes, the old Hornet crowd would be proud! :D

    That nut lathe handled that 02 sensor fairly easily, it would have been different had you used a dremel & blowtorch. Looking at you, you clapped out squid missile of a 636 sitting in my livingroom >_>
    Also for all of the home mechanics, when it comes to putting springs on you can save a lot of time & heartache by losing the pliers, aka "spring slingshot" by grinding a slot in the head of a large flathead screwdriver and using it to push the springs into place. There's a lot less blood and a lot less bullshit this way.

    I love when bikes have the O2 sensors before the cat like my Dorsoduro. That way you can remove it without having to tune the bike. Granted tuning it would be best to bring out all of the power, but it's technically not needed. I want to remove mine bc of the heat it gives off. Basically heats up my legs especially in warmer weather.

    Thinking of owning this bike, but it’s a bit more expensive.
    Deciding between this or the cheaper Yamaha XJ-6
    Thoughts anyone?

      Yamaha sell Akro full exhausts for these with no tune included, so you're pretty safe doing without. Almost everything benefits from a proper tune though, including a lot of stock bikes, which come from the factory tuned for (low) emissions.
