    Bryan Danielson was the best in the world before he stepped in a WWE ring. I don't think a lot of people understand how great he really was and is. Not just the in-ring stuff. Bryan knows he isn't a great promo but he does and says things at the right times to get the best reactions.
    I've always seen Bryan and Punk as top genius-level wrestlers. Punk is so good on the mic that it overshadows how amazing he is in putting matches together. Bryan is so good at putting matches together that it overshadows how amazing he is on the mic with his character.

      Not that it matters to me, but Ric Flair is a supportor of that side of politics. When George H.W. Bush, (not his son), was running for reelection, he was on a teain with Bush Sr. In South Carolina in a news clip that was routinely played on CNN at the time. Shiabata and Zack Sabre Jr are the only other guys I can think of who can perform a similar style, but neither have the storytelling ability or emotional connection he does.

      Not only NBA and NFL events but people on the street or at work as well, mainstream people who didn't even know who he was or had watched wrestling before, which reminded me of how everyone said "Austin 3:16" even though they didn't know who Austin was, they just heard it from other people and then they wanted to watch the shows (and they did). You'd think the WWE would WANT that mainstream attention but I guess they'd rather cut their nose off to spite their face and they did, having Bryan win in a crappy triple threat (that he was wheeled away from in a stretcher at one point) and then having him in a lackluster feud with Kane where he got injured and had to relinquish the belt. He was the ultimate missed opportunity by them.

    Ric has been kinda dismissive about Bryan Danielson. During the infamous WWE2k14 panel, Danielson innocently and humbly said " I don't know why I'm here" - the reason Danielson said that, was because Danielson was seated next to bona fide legends (this was around 2013, before the Yes Movement), Ric responded - “41 years - you can only imagine wrestling Brody and Blackjack, you can imagine how I feel about being up here… GOOD LORD, Jeez, What would Harley have said about him (Bryan Danielson)? One tackle, one drop down, come off low buddy, don’t let your beard hit the ground”. I think Danielson is probably the best technical wrestler around - Danielson is definitely one of the top wrestlers in the world, Danielson is a good talker, he wrestles a legit style, more importantly - Danielson has a real connection with the fans. Danielson has striking similarities with William Regal, Chris Benoit and Owen Hart. Danielson's match with Adam Page was great, it had credible action, it was paced really well, it actually told a story, the match had escalation. Bryan's matches have a lot character, and Bryan knows how to work towards his opponent's style, which makes Bryan's matches different and exciting. The irony is that if a young Flair worked with Bryan, he probably would've loved it, Flair loved working Regal, and Flair respects the World of Sports/European style of wrestling, but for some reason Flair doesn't see what everyone else sees, and Danielson was over before Wrestlemania 30.

Ric's "Harley Race" comment is probably related to Danielson's size - but Danielson wrestles a believable aggressive style, and his offence is credible. Also, Ric is hardly a picture of confidence, in fact - Ric has numerous insecurities. Ric has had confidence issues for years, this has been covered in his book, shoot interviews and documentaries. Danielson in comparison seems pretty chilled and level-headed, Danielson is pretty confident in his skills, Danielson is pretty confident about his role in wrestling and what he can contribute to wrestling.

    Danielson would wrestle circles around a Ric Flair in his prime. Ric deserves all the accolades he gets for being a consummate worker and professional in the 70s and 80s. His work in the 90s dropped off, and reached bottom tier levels by the late 90s. He stuck around in the ring for over a decade longer than he should. Ric was and is a better talker than Danielson but that’s where that ends. Danielson has had a longer, more vaunted career at the top of the business than Steamboat. He’s probably the best technical wrestler in the modern era. I think it’s just a case of nutty old man poo pooing the guy who’s getting all the love at the moment. He’s afraid that Danielson being as good as he is will hurt his own legacy. There’s no basis in reality for that mindset, but Ric doesn’t live in reality.

    • @jamiemark
      @jamiemark 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's not just politics he's confused about, but really the whole world IMO. I don't understand how someone who has spent that much time in a worked business is oblivious to the fact that everything that happens on our world is a work. He must actually think that the planet is run by politicians. Anyone with two eyes and a normal thinking brain can see that's definitely not the case (given the last 2 years especially!!!). There's no way he can be paying any attention to what Biden and Kamala have been doing (or NOT doing), and yet still stand on that side of the fence. His world view must be totally shaped by mainstream media. otherwise he'd have some kind of a clue. Again, it just totally blows my mind that someone can be so hip to a worked business like wrestling, but yet so clueless as to how our world really works. It's bizarre.

(funny thing is fans had really liked sheamus at that point and him beating DB put an incredible stink on the rest of his career. people just kinda done with em all because of bad booking).
