An amazing live vocal performance. No autotune/pitch correction, half naked dancers to distract or the vocal buried under a booming distorted baseline. Sheer talent and stage presence.
Donna Summer's live VOCAL performances are the best I've ever seen. Her VOICE alone always sounds like the original recording. No one does it like Donna.....
She was so beautiful and her voice so dominating and seductive. Her fandom crossed every line of color and class in my high school. She does not get enough credit nowadays. Her talent and the power of her expressive vocals goes way beyond the "disco craze". Just as the Bee Gees' late-70's songs have recently gotten their due as the pop masterpieces they are, I hope the release of these videos helps us see Ms. Summer was the equal to Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight (and whoever else you want to put on the list), and that she deserves the honor as the dominate female performer of her generation, and therefore, of all time.
...DING-DING-DING!! ...Donna was SUCH a threat to the Divas 'O the Day, that almost EVERYONE had to step up their game!! ...Babs went Disco, Miss Ross got "Love Hangover", Thelma Houston finally got chart recognition with "Don't Leave Me This Way", Aretha & Dionne reinvigorated their careers on Arista, Linda, Carly, ONJ, etc, upped their images with sexy layers....Donna was THE ONE to beat....
I think it may have been for her. YOu get the feeling there is lots of vocal power that she didn't tap. Like this is a 4 out of a 10 in terms of effort. Just exquisite tone and pitch.
...WOW, how long has Midnight Special been sittin' on THIS!?? ...I bought their 1976 DVD for "Love To Love You", and never, NEVER knew she did this tune, that night TOO! ...It only took 47 YEARS! ..ha-HAA!! (1:44)
She could do so much with her voice. She is up there with the greatest of female singers. Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, Whitney Houston, you name it.
My mother's first concert was to see Donna Summer at the Universal Amphitheatre in southern California she had such a good time she didn't want to leave.
This full-voiced masterpiece came hot on the heels of Love to Love You Baby (sung in 'head' voice) but it wasn't a massive hit like it's predecessor, and didn't wake the record buying public up to what a great singer she was. MacArthur Park in 1978 was pretty much her first massive, massive hit sung in full-voice, which really did that.
Donna Summer, my Queen of the Nile!! Wow, she looks sensational in this glittering Egyptian style outfit, and her voice is mesmerizing. Loved her both then and now, definitely a crush of mine as a young guy!
Omg does it include the moan parts or not? I just play this to my grandparents and their friends and they would say "I know that song". Really cool and that's how i knew Could It Be Magic is really famous here before but i wanna know more about this song's fame in our country i wanna know some facts 😅
I have seen many videos of Donna singing this song live in various settings, but this particular one caught me by surprise. I had never seen THIS before! Very exciting. Extremely aggressive percussion. Speeded up tempo. More snare drum than we usually hear on this song. I quite liked it, but I wonder if the loud, rapid snare got on Donna’s nerves a bit? LOL!
Wow, this is fantastic! Her band is really holding down that groove too. This gave me a little flashback to my 8 year old self listening to my mom play the radio in her car. Donna's voice and music is in the fabric of my youth, and this song is one of the very best.
Donna com sua voz poderosa de grande extensao vocal deu vida as cançoes como; Mac ARTHUR Park, Amazing GRACE, A Song for You , Could it be magic entre outras...Ela era uma verdadeira aula de canto !!
Donna Summer was a game changer. Where soul failed disco took over. And thankfully by someone who had a great voice and a lot of soul. An amalgamation of great producer and great singer or interpreter of song ie Donna Summer, " I love to love you baba. " 2:35
Donna was a blessed gorgeous and very spiritually blessed woman with the beautiful gift of being multi talented a voice like an Angel ,an acting presence of a super star ,and looks of a high paid model, She was in the original cast of hair, against her fathers wish, she left singing in the church with her other very talented and multi vocally ranged sisters Darrah Ami of witch I had the God given blessing to have gone to Boston English High School with, and be very close friends with Darrah , Whom I've tried for all these years to contact with no luck she left got married to her Gilbert a very handsome and blessed young man Darrah's voice was so much stronger and vibrant I had always hope she would make an album, when Donna's LOVE TO LOVE YOU came out we promoted it with requests to W I L D radio station for weeks and it was the hottest club song out then. Donna REST IN PEACE.. DARRAH WHERE EVER YOU ARE KNOW THAT I'VE MISSED YOU EVERYDAY SINCE YOU'VE LEFT , FOR THERE'S BEEN AN EMPTY SPACE IN MY HEART AND MY LIFE THAT CANNOT BE FILLED, GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY MAY "GRAMMY" REST IN PEACE AS WELL, I PRAY THAT YOU'RE HEALTHY, HAPPY, STILL SINGING SOMEWHERE.... LOVE YOU MISS YOU KOOKIE THE BOY LEFT BEHIND

It's something about the way she said Pee-ter💚 I just love what theatrical training overseas did for Donna's interpretative singing style. Gosh, she was just a lovely work of art. Her live singing was time stopping, with or without backing music.
The very beneficial side of all this appropriation is that the young people of the 70s, by the millions (me DJ 1975-1991 and sun of a classical pianist) , were musically transported by Chopin's genius without even knowing it.
she looks Egyptian middle eastern and the middle ages of europe combined. whoever made the outfit and head scarf deserves a lot of credit. it you look at home videos of people or even tv shows from the 1970s they looked and dressed gross. it was a talent just to know how to dress like that.
No backing tracks, no "helper" "guide" vocals, no over the top dancing, just straight emotional powerful singing from the soul. She was a gift!
Absolutely
I love how she increases the intensity, the desperation and yearning in her voice with each verse to chorus....
Acted like an amazing actress, excitement in the heights

She just makes it all look so incredibly easy
I think it may have been for her. YOu get the feeling there is lots of vocal power that she didn't tap. Like this is a 4 out of a 10 in terms of effort. Just exquisite tone and pitch.
@@haysfordays Oh absolutely this wasn't all of her prowess!! She had operatic reaches.

Same happened to me, I still don't understand why I have to wait too many years to watch this amazing video and some others of my idol.
Same I always thought she only performed LTLYB
The backing singers did a wonderful job!
I think those are her sisters
As much as I love Miss summers…sometimes it’s hard listening to her music…she was so special…I’ll always love her…rest in paradise queen 🙏🏾❤️🌹
Absolutely stunning performance.
Incredibly voice, so sad a lot of people see her only as "The Queen of Disco", she was a Queen in every song she sung
Wow Donna ! First time Ibsee her singing this song my favorite of hers!!...
This lady could sing anything beautifully!
She could do so much with her voice. She is up there with the greatest of female singers. Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, Whitney Houston, you name it.
Donna Summer was a premier and a finest vocalist, belong to mayor leagues.
You left out Olivia Newton John, Karen Carpenter!

Never seen this performance. Awesome!
An Exceptional performance from the undesputed Queen of disco.
The best rendition of Barry Manilow's original song done by the late Donna Summer!
It was a big hit here in the Philippines. You can hear this music being played anywhere, jeepneys, tricycles, etc.
Omg does it include the moan parts or not? I just play this to my grandparents and their friends and they would say "I know that song". I ❤her voice!
Legendary Donna Summer.
Singing stars out of the sky.
CLASSIC DIVA ❤
“Could It Be Magic" is inspired by Frédéric Chopin's Prelude in C minor, Opus 28, Number 20 written in the 1830s!! Almost 200 years ago.
an angel sent from heaven to music lovers!
This is classic rarely seen singing Could It Be Magic live! Thank you for sharing this!!!

I heard sing this song live in 2010 in Atlantic City on her sadly last contact tour.
An Icon!! Diva! Queen! Bravo 👏 👏 👏

I LOVE ♥ THIS SONG BY DONNA SUMMER OVER BARRY MANILOW
I never liked that banal talking part.....in any of her songs. But love her and always will. One dance hit after another ❤
Fantastic - I hope she's getting a few bucks from this.
Every guy had a crush on her in the 70s.
