First Steelers game I ever attended in person! Sat in the small end zone section where the teams entered and exited the field. Rocky Bleier caught his TD right down in front of us. Still have the game program, and I think I have the ticket stub.
I had to watch the first part of this game since the Packers defensive line showed both M. Hartenstine and J. Osborne which were two Chicago Bears players.
Steelers were 4-4 going into this game but as the announcers pointed out, two of those losses against Cinncinati were because of missed FGs by Matt Bahr, who had a very poor year. The Steelers could have been 6-2 at this point and finished the season 11-5 and in a 3-way tie with Cleveland and Houston for the division. Also, the Steelers lost to Houston in Week 14 6-0. One touchdown and they win that game and finish 12-4, the same record they had in '79 when they won the Super Bowl. So really it was just those three losses, all very winnable games.
One reason John Madden was paired with Summerall, was because Brookeshire and Summerall loved to have a few drinks before, during and after broadcasts! CBS decided it was best to break that pair up. How does the graphics mess up two of the three Packers' DL by inserting Chicago Bears players? WTF?!
What I really enjoy about watching this older NFL games is that after players on offense & defense make a play, they just get ready for the next. Unlike today's NFL in which players jump up & down like if they have ants up their ass on every play. Old school football was the best.
Green Bay had the offensive talent in the 80s But just couldn't put it together on the Defensive side of football. And it's too bad Lombardi passed away in 1970 Bartt could have leaned on Lombardi if he was still alive
In 1980 it was the team of the 1960's GREEN BAY PACKERS vs the team of the 1970's PITTSBURGH STEELERS in 1981 it was the team of the 1980's SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs the team of the 1970's PITTSBURGH STEELERS both played in Pittsburgh both were Week 9 Matchups back-to-back years how the NFL sure schedule those games are very fascinating both games were on CBS

I think what was Ironic 76’ might’ve been there best Team. What there Def. Did the last 10 games of the YR. was Remarkable they set All kinds of Records that still stands, shutting out 6 Opponents giving up Abg. 3PTs. A game Etc Etc..But the Raiders went on to Win the Super Bowl..& in 80’ C. Noll said this was his Best Team. & Noll never made statements like that..all of the superstars Peaked Or on the Downside but still better then 90% of league..& All their Great Back Ups were in their prime.! Yet the Raiders came from no where to win Super Bowl.. So Steelers 2 Best teams Oakland won SB.. I don’t know I found it ironic, I wonder if they didn’t suffer any of the injuries what they’d done

The Packers did not get JJ until they traded for him in 1981. Aundra Thompson was the other WR opposite the great HoF James Lofton in 1980.
