She also seems to have a technology similar to what Icon has (They are both composed of various cubes that can take more complex shapes).

I actually thought that the girl and Icon were the same person, and she was turned into Icon after the cube technology attacked her and changed her body into cubes. And then when she woke up, that wasn't just a dream, but it was a memory. And when she was in the mansion, that was all actually in Icon's head, because they are kind of like two entities living in the same place. personal theory as for why the vending machine says that is that IC-0N has some sort of hivemind (as hinted at in the desk scribbles of part 3) However Kirie somehow escaped and they're now trying to get her back
7:09 Something I find funny about this moment is that IC-0n doesn't *have* a user manual. It's revealed in episode three that the administrator story is bullshit. Also worth noting that despite the fact that she believes she can't harm Max due to him claiming to be her administrator, she very much has, when she slammed him into the dirt just moments before this.

The part where Icon questioned if he would hurt him, and then his eyes faded into his glasses. Okay, considering what that means, along with Ic-0n’s bizarre cube heart, I think the interconnection cubes are made by taking the flesh of a person and reforming it into a new body. Kirie narrowly survived this happening to her, which I’m guessing has left such an impact on her psyche she’s even obsessed with the cube. In the last episode Ic-0n mentioned newer models of herself, and pair that with the mysterious elongated skeleton that was behind Kirie, it could be possible this facility is using inhumane experimentation to create these devices.
The company seems to be called refinoc biowaste management inc so they likely have some sort of thing with compacting flesh into cubes. Mabye the souls of everything that gets crushed into a cube and likely stored in some sort of pixel stack box or somthing, sort of became angry and evil......mabye some sort of ai corruption stuff? Mabye there is evil experiments going on but take my thoughts into consideration. They really potentially do somthing with biomatter to the cubes

Ok, ok, I just noticed that when Kirie orders a snack, the vending machine flashed "Welcome Kirie" with lets-be-honest IC-0n's face, "Your flesh will be reformed anew", "We'll peel apart your soul", and "Come back to us Kirie" twice. Is Kirie a prototype of sorts of IC-0n who somehow managed to escape? Im the first episode IC-on mentioned future designs of her, and labeled herself as the first. Who's to say there weren't alpha and beta versions already out, running around, and causing chaos. How many IC-on...s are there??? Someone who has more time and is willing to start theorizing please take this. And yes I did step through each frame at 0.25 speed. Edit: When her eyes turn into box-ed X-s, is that IC-on, or some prototype taking over? The POV of sorts of her vision showed what could only be unstable/incomplete vision, but she bled, and has (or had) bones? What is Kirie!?!?!?!?!?!? Also IC-on's face. Also I don't think this is a dream, rather a memory. She has a photo labeled "Class of 2038". indicating she has lived a normal human life at some point.
My assumption, based on what we see, is that Kirie *was* human at one point, but during the scene where she has contact with a cube, I believe that what happened was that the cube sort of integrated itself into her rather than assimilating her, and the eyes changing is when she became a fully fledged Internecion Cube. Some people might think that she was always a cube though, due to how faces show all these errors, like she was a machine observing them, but I moreso believe that they're errors *remembering* them. Also, tangentially related, I think that her demon cat was an attempt to synthesize a cat that failed, though not catastrophically like IC-0n's egg. This failure was still functional, just not *complete*
I don’t think it was necessarily IC-0n who was responsible for Kirie being mutated/corrupted, I think it was more likely one of or maybe even a few of IC-0n’s many iterations, there isn’t a lot of solid evidence but we did see that IC-01n all the way up to IC-40n where being contained by the Biowaste Management Inc. (which is likely a cover title used by a much more nefarious organization… wow sounded a lot like Kofi there, sheesh. Anyway) thanks to IC-313n’s appearance in episode 3 we know there are at LEAST 313 iterations of IC-0n that have been made by that point and we can imagine that pretty much all of them are either laying low, dead, or working for the government and maybe even BMI (Biowaste Management Inc.) if there still around anymore. I imagine whatever event also caused Kirie to become corrupted is likely also the same reason all the iterations where either killed or able to escape. I’m also convinced that there where definitely more iterations created after this event as well but how, by who, and how many is well… at this moment, impossible to know for sure. If the main characters ever return the facility hidden within the Eisenhower-Johnson tunnel (which they might do at some point to try and figure out the origin of IC-0n) they may find out that the facility has long since fallen into disarray likely destroyed and abandoned after the event we saw in this episode and was probably shittily covered up by the government later after they found out about it.

She could be exploiting a loophole as it's the explosive compound is what's going to harm him, not her. Or she was lying about the explosives to try to force him to help her. Or she could've harmed him earlier when she injected him, but now she can't since she rebooted in safe mode.

All the clues I gathered so far to understand Kirie's condition (please pardon my typos, I'm french, I tried to not leave a lot of those tho, SPOILER : very long comment) : At 0:24 a beast has been freeshly killed, leaving only a skeleton to the crows, I can assume that because of the blood on the carcass. So when you slow down the video to the max you can actually read on the dispensing machine form 2:12 to 2:14 : -Welcome Kirie =) -Your flesh will be reformed anew -We'll peel apart your soul -Come back to us Kirie come back to us kirie -Dispensing... when Kirie is looking at her father, the face is blurred out and the words : "error analysing memory corrupt" can be seen and a frame replace the face of her father by the murderous AI smile When Kirie is looking at her dad coworkers their face is also blurred and the same "error analysing memory corrupt" can be seen plus "*n***ception ha**oc***ed" and "a***xce****n **s o*cur**" then repeating "*n***ception ha**oc***ed" and then "an e***ption ha* *c***ed" witch can be deduct to say "an exception has ocured" the exeption being the name Cleo. When kirie wake up, you can see all sort of informations related to the incindent : -Like the time incated by the giant counting down clock in the facility wich was 84(day):09(hour):31(min), forshadowing some kind of event in the future. -She has notes containing the first name her dad used to refer to the employe of the facility indicating that she is looking for the peoples that where there the day of the incident. -A poster and a map showing the name "Eisenhower Tunnel" is the name of the tunnel used to enter the facility, the poster show that the tunnel got demolished in 2033. -There is also a school class photograph featuring her and Max, dating from 2038, since she was in the same class as Max it's safe to assume her to be around 15 years old, meaning that she was around 10 years old when the tunnel was demolished asuming the photo is from the present year or the last. It's also safe to assume that she does know max since they where in the same class for at least a year. But it look like she was younger than 10 years old during the incident so I asume that the tunnel was not demolished because of the incident. -A note show the logo of entrance A, at the begining you can actually see a droplet falling to the ceilling into a puddle, the liquid then slide in a water drain under the entrance A, during the incident the cubes materialise from droplets, so maybe the murderous A.I. sneak in the facility by following the water evacuation system. -Unknown medications are on her night table, maybe sleeping pills ? -Finally there is notes on the wall to make remember to breath, blink, talk and write with a pourcentage of failure, to eat and to figure out how to smile because it's "anti-disturbing" Then later in her freezer there is labeled container such as "Mycardium" or "Interventricular" witch are heart components In the mirror scene, she is most likely "figuring out how to smile" by looking at the smile of Max in the photo that she has pinned down here and seem to think that she is doing a good job at it since the thumbs up at the end of the scene. Her cloth seem to show that she is going to school. At 6:15 when IC-On wakes up you can read on her face : Data recovery failed- Operation string [god mind] not found reverting to program _ERROR_ Scrubing conections Writing recovery 100% complete Starting program //: IC-On INITIALIZING... CORRUPTED Booting in safe mode 99%=> ERROR=> 99%=> ERROR She wake up crying then blink and the tears desappear, I suppose her sleeping mode is a way to attempte to fix the errors she is showing. With all of the above I think the Kirie incident was not planned by the facility even if they do seem suspicious. I think Kirie is no longer Human, but rather that she fused with the AI of the incident, meaning she don't need to breath, eat, blink and such but has to remember to in presence of other to avoid raising suspicion toward her. Maybe she is the only one aware that the incident ever happened, nothing is explained as to what happened to the house she live in or her parents, this could mean that she killed them under the A.I. influence. I think that the fact that the AI is blocking part of her memory is proof that she is resisting it and looking for help hence her looking for the employes of the facility. The heart components in her freezer could be to apease the blood thirst of the AI and allowing her to resit the AI influence ? Also maybe the cat is as much alive as she is, or he could be a source of food for the AI that use it without killing it until his death will be inevitable, I can assume this since there is other animals skeleton in the house. Her demonstrating such interest toward Max could be because her AI is program to kill him and recover IC-On or rather during the incident Kirie droped the cube, then could IC-On be that same cube and the reason why she is interested in him is because he is the administrator ? What ever it is, Liam Vickers, your doing an amazing job, your stories Idea are really interesting and I really love your art style. I can't wait for more, I really hope you will do more. I do have a question if you ever read this, what is the company your working for and what project did it produced ? I am interested.

God damnit I can’t get over how great you create the atmosphere of these. It’s the silent fear of these animatics that make them so amazing. Instead of dialog you let the unsettling images and thoughts scare the viewer. The fact that this is an animatic and not a full blown animation baffles me. This is amazing!

It's a nightmare/flashback it's her past the "adult" kirae we see is icon after she gains better control also smiling is.... pretty much impossible to do without the murder look
Think about it: Kirie must not be entirely human. It's likely she was designed or had something installed into her so that she is compatible with the Internecion Cube.
There's a chance Kirie Bonin is dead, and that the cube has taken on the appearance of her. If that's the case, it has completely replicated her appearance on a cellular level. There's also a chance that Kirie is still alive but is a host for this machine. This would mean that she would be in control of herself and have access to God like capabilites. If it turns out Kirie is human, she still demonstrates the behavior of a Sociopath/Psychopath, killing innocents for her gain. If Kirie is but a complex machine, this would explain why she wants to be a God. Now imagine that machine and said Psychopath sharing a body, having a symbiotic relationship, fulfilling their goals. That theory is more than likely correct, and I hate that I never realised that earlier. Episode 3 showed that there are other "things" like Kirie. These people that are hosts to such machines are physically machine, yet psychologically human. When the power goes out and the alarm starts blaring, we see an amalgamation of multiple victims this thing has claimed. This creature which resembles a biological nightmare then drops a miniature cube for kirie which proceeds to eat away her hands. This cube proceeds to eat away at her entire body (we see Kirie's walking skeleton attacking and killing its victim) and seemingly infect her mind. If this thing assumed her identity, it wouldn't have to do much to act like her. In the first couple minutes we see kirie she seemed reserved, or introvert like, meaning even her father wouldn't notice. Kirie's behaviour is reminiscent of ASPD which is related to sociopathy. When kirie wakes up from the memory (yes, the memory) she has a nightstand to her right with self written instructions. These instructions pertain to remembering how to breathe and keep her respiratory rate at 12-20 bpm, during resting 8-20, and during conversations 10-30. To also eat, blink, misspeak and falsify 5-10% verbal expressions, 2-5% written and how to smile. Kirie has more notes scribbled onto her desk explaining how to simulate human emotions. Facts. Kirie has the formula for mutual annihilation on her desk. Kirie seems to take on personality traits of child Kirie, accept for her murderous tendencies which more than likely is caused by the cube. Max is not the administrator, he hacked or lied to I.C. 0n Max tested his blood for foreign contamination, it came back negative. Max is aware that he can be infected by the cube, like child Kirie was. Kirie has convinced max that she is fully human. she is not and was infected as a child. At 2:12 A message appears on the vending machine. The cubes run off of something called a bio-battery which is why I.C. 0n and kirie both consume heart tissue. Kirie needs secrets from I.C. 0n so it can destroy the other cubes. Kirie has plans to become a God, eliminating the contenders is a good way to do so. The cubes can disasemble matter on a molecular level, and use it to form objects. The cubes can travel through electronics like a virus. I.C. 0n Is the origin cube. I.C. 0n finds it difficult to construct organic matter that she has not assimilated before. I.C. 52n was killed by kirie. The cubes have something the call god face. There is an airforce base located near the diner. Interesting facts. Kirie has the facility exit marked, Eisenhower tunnel on route 70. Which started construction in 1973 to 1979, and was demolished in the year 2033. A relative (possibly father) of her's is named Hans Bonin. She's hunting someone named cleo, since she's already eliminated all the possible sylvees. There was a mysterious count down for the next 84 days, 9 hours, and 31 minutes. She graduated a school in 2038 with the administrator and was stalking him. The administrator was a basketball player for the schools "RANGERS". The dead cats name is rex. She also seems to have a technology similar to what Icon has (They are both composed of various cubes that can take more complex shapes).

Okay, considering what that means, along with Ic-0n’s bizarre cube heart, I think the interconnection cubes are made by taking the flesh of a person and reforming it into a new body. Kirie narrowly survived this happening to her, which I’m guessing has left such an impact on her psyche she’s even obsessed with the cube. In the last episode Ic-0n mentioned newer models of herself, and pair that with the mysterious elongated skeleton that was behind Kirie, it could be possible this facility is using inhumane experimentation to create these devices.
The company seems to be called refinoc biowaste management inc so they likely have some sort of thing with compacting flesh into cubes. Mabye the souls of everything that gets crushed into a cube and likely stored in some sort of pixel stack box or somthing, sort of became angry and evil......mabye some sort of ai corruption stuff? Mabye there is evil experiments going on but take my thoughts into consideration. They really potentially do somthing with biomatter to the cubes

Ok, ok, I just noticed that when Kirie orders a snack, the vending machine flashed "Welcome Kirie" with lets-be-honest IC-0n's face, "Your flesh will be reformed anew", "We'll peel apart your soul", and "Come back to us Kirie" twice. Is Kirie a prototype of sorts of IC-0n who somehow managed to escape? Im the first episode IC-on mentioned future designs of her, and labeled herself as the first. Who's to say there weren't alpha and beta versions already out, running around, and causing chaos. How many IC-on...s are there???

Edit: When her eyes turn into box-ed X-s, is that IC-on, or some prototype taking over? The POV of sorts of her vision showed what could only be unstable/incomplete vision, but she bled, and has (or had) bones? What is Kirie!?!?!?!?!?!? Also IC-on's face.
Also I don't think this is a dream, rather a memory. She has a photo labeled "Class of 2038". indicating she has lived a normal human life at some point.

My assumption, based on what we see, is that Kirie *was* human at one point, but during the scene where she has contact with a cube, I believe that what happened was that the cube sort of integrated itself into her rather than assimilating her, and the eyes changing is when she became a fully fledged Internecion Cube. Some people might think that she was always a cube though, due to how faces show all these errors, like she was a machine observing them, but I moreso believe that they're errors *remembering* them.
Also, tangentially related, I think that her demon cat was an attempt to synthesize a cat that failed, though not catastrophically like IC-0n's egg. This failure was still functional, just not *complete*
I don’t think it was necessarily IC-0n who was responsible for Kirie being mutated/corrupted, I think it was more likely one of or maybe even a few of IC-0n’s many iterations, there isn’t a lot of solid evidence but we did see that IC-01n all the way up to IC-40n where being contained by the Biowaste Management Inc. (which is likely a cover title used by a much more nefarious organization… wow sounded a lot like Kofi there, sheesh. Anyway) thanks to IC-313n’s appearance in episode 3 we know there are at LEAST 313 iterations of IC-0n that have been made by that point and we can imagine that pretty much all of them are either laying low, dead, or working for the government and maybe even BMI (Biowaste Management Inc.) if there still around anymore. I imagine whatever event also caused Kirie to become corrupted is likely also the same reason all the iterations where either killed or able to escape. I’m also convinced that there where definitely more iterations created after this event as well but how, by who, and how many is well… at this moment, impossible to know for sure. If the main characters ever return the facility hidden within the Eisenhower-Johnson tunnel (which they might do at some point to try and figure out the origin of IC-0n) they may find out that the facility has long since fallen into disarray likely destroyed and abandoned after the event we saw in this episode and was probably shittily covered up by the government later after they found out about it.

All the clues I gathered so far to understand Kirie's condition (please pardon my typos, I'm french, I tried to not leave a lot of those tho, SPOILER : very long comment) :
At 0:24 a beast has been freeshly killed, leaving only a skeleton to the crows, I can assume that because of the blood on the carcass.
So when you slow down the video to the max you can actually read on the dispensing machine form 2:12 to 2:14 :

when Kirie is looking at her father, the face is blurred out and the words : "error analysing memory corrupt" can be seen and a frame replace the face of her father by the murderous AI smile
When Kirie is looking at her dad coworkers their face is also blurred and the same "error analysing memory corrupt" can be seen plus "*n***ception ha**oc***ed" and "a***xce****n **s o*cur**" then repeating "*n***ception ha**oc***ed" and then "an e***ption ha* *c***ed" witch can be deduct to say "an exception has ocured" the exeption being the name Cleo.
When kirie wake up, you can see all sort of informations related to the incindent :
-Like the time incated by the giant counting down clock in the facility wich was 84(day):09(hour):31(min), forshadowing some kind of event in the future.
-She has notes containing the first name her dad used to refer to the employe of the facility indicating that she is looking for the peoples that where there the day of the incident.
-A poster and a map showing the name "Eisenhower Tunnel" is the name of the tunnel used to enter the facility, the poster show that the tunnel got demolished in 2033.
-There is also a school class photograph featuring her and Max, dating from 2038, since she was in the same class as Max it's safe to assume her to be around 15 years old, meaning that she was around 10 years old when the tunnel was demolished asuming the photo is from the present year or the last. It's also safe to assume that she does know max since they where in the same class for at least a year. But it look like she was younger than 10 years old during the incident so I asume that the tunnel was not demolished because of the incident.
-A note show the logo of entrance A, at the begining you can actually see a droplet falling to the ceilling into a puddle, the liquid then slide in a water drain under the entrance A, during the incident the cubes materialise from droplets, so maybe the murderous A.I. sneak in the facility by following the water evacuation system.
-Unknown medications are on her night table, maybe sleeping pills ?
-Finally there is notes on the wall to make remember to breath, blink, talk and write with a pourcentage of failure, to eat and to figure out how to smile because it's "anti-disturbing"
Then later in her freezer there is labeled container such as "Mycardium" or "Interventricular" witch are heart components
In the mirror scene, she is most likely "figuring out how to smile" by looking at the smile of Max in the photo that she has pinned down here and seem to think that she is doing a good job at it since the thumbs up at the end of the scene. Her cloth seem to show that she is going to school.
At 6:15 when IC-On wakes up you can read on her face :

Booting in safe mode 99%=> ERROR=> 99%=> ERROR She wake up crying then blink and the tears desappear, I suppose her sleeping mode is a way to attempte to fix the errors she is showing.
With all of the above I think the Kirie incident was not planned by the facility even if they do seem suspicious. I think Kirie is no longer Human, but rather that she fused with the AI of the incident, meaning she don't need to breath, eat, blink and such but has to remember to in presence of other to avoid raising suspicion toward her. Maybe she is the only one aware that the incident ever happened, nothing is explained as to what happened to the house she live in or her parents, this could mean that she killed them under the A.I. influence. I think that the fact that the AI is blocking part of her memory is proof that she is resisting it and looking for help hence her looking for the employes of the facility. The heart components in her freezer could be to apease the blood thirst of the AI and allowing her to resit the AI influence ? Also maybe the cat is as much alive as she is, or he could be a source of food for the AI that use it without killing it until his death will be inevitable, I can assume this since there is other animals skeleton in the house. Her demonstrating such interest toward Max could be because her AI is program to kill him and recover IC-On or rather during the incident Kirie droped the cube, then could IC-On be that same cube and the reason why she is interested in him is because he is the administrator ?
What ever it is, Liam Vickers, your doing an amazing job, your stories Idea are really interesting and I really love your art style. I can't wait for more, I really hope you will do more. I do have a question if you ever read this, what is the company your working for and what project did it produced ? I am interested.

God damnit I can’t get over how great you create the atmosphere of these. It’s the silent fear of these animatics that make them so amazing. Instead of dialog you let the unsettling images and thoughts scare the viewer. The fact that this is an animatic and not a full blown animation baffles me. This is amazing!

i refuse to believe kirie's father just called his co-workers "completely useless team". that's a report to HR waiting to happen
There's a chance Kirie Bonin is dead, and that the cube has taken on the appearance of her. If that's the case, it has completely replicated her appearance on a cellular level.
There's also a chance that Kirie is still alive but is a host for this machine. This would mean that she would be in control of herself and have access to God like capabilites.
If it turns out Kirie is human, she still demonstrates the behavior of a Sociopath/Psychopath, killing innocents for her gain.
If Kirie is but a complex machine, this would explain why she wants to be a God.
Now imagine that machine and said Psychopath sharing a body, having a symbiotic relationship, fulfilling their goals. That theory is more than likely correct, and I hate that I never realised that earlier.
Episode 3 showed that there are other "things" like Kirie. These people that are hosts to such machines are physically machine, yet psychologically human.
When the power goes out and the alarm starts blaring, we see an amalgamation of multiple victims this thing has claimed. This creature which resembles a biological nightmare then drops a miniature cube for kirie which proceeds to eat away her hands. This cube proceeds to eat away at her entire body (we see Kirie's walking skeleton attacking and killing its victim) and seemingly infect her mind.
If this thing assumed her identity, it wouldn't have to do much to act like her. In the first couple minutes we see kirie she seemed reserved, or introvert like, meaning even her father wouldn't notice. Kirie's behaviour is reminiscent of ASPD which is related to sociopathy.
When kirie wakes up from the memory (yes, the memory) she has a nightstand to her right with self written instructions. These instructions pertain to remembering how to breathe and keep her respiratory rate at 12-20 bpm, during resting 8-20, and during conversations 10-30. To also eat, blink, misspeak and falsify 5-10% verbal expressions, 2-5% written and how to smile. Kirie has more notes scribbled onto her desk explaining how to simulate human emotions.
Facts.
Kirie has the formula for mutual annihilation on her desk.
Kirie seems to take on personality traits of child Kirie, accept for her murderous tendencies which more than likely is caused by the cube.
Max is not the administrator, he hacked or lied to I.C. 0n
Max tested his blood for foreign contamination, it came back negative. Max is aware that he can be infected by the cube, like child Kirie was.
Kirie has convinced max that she is fully human. she is not and was infected as a child.
At 2:12 A message appears on the vending machine.
The cubes run off of something called a bio-battery which is why I.C. 0n and kirie both consume heart tissue.
Kirie needs secrets from I.C. 0n so it can destroy the other cubes. Kirie has plans to become a God, eliminating the contenders is a good way to do so.
The cubes can disasemble matter on a molecular level, and use it to form objects.
The cubes can travel through electronics like a virus.
I.C. 0n Is the origin cube.
I.C. 0n finds it difficult to construct organic matter that she has not assimilated before.
I.C. 52n was killed by kirie.
The cubes have something the call god face.
There is an airforce base located near the diner.
Interesting facts.
Kirie has the facility exit marked, Eisenhower tunnel on route 70. Which started construction in 1973 to 1979, and was demolished in the year 2033.
A relative (possibly father) of her's is named Hans Bonin.
She's hunting someone named cleo, since she's already eliminated all the possible sylvees.
There was a mysterious count down for the next 84 days, 9 hours, and 31 minutes.
She graduated a school in 2038 with the administrator and was stalking him.
The administrator was a basketball player for the schools "RANGERS".
The dead cats name is rex.
