      it´s tough love, I don´t want to hurt the plants but propagating is the main reason for them to exist (for us too lol).. you´re essentially doing those plants the biggest favor by helping them pass down their genes ;)

      I’ve killed like 4 or 5. I TRY to keep them alive. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. They thrive for weeks then suddenly they start dying. They all seem to die the same.

    • @aj6338
      @aj6338 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Lol I’ve killed so many. I killed them while trying to figure out the best ways to propagate them. I have also made many mistakes during my propagation journey (that killed them). But now I know about how not kill them so I won’t be making the same mistakes ever again.
      Killing them is ok as long as you learn never to make the same mistake again.

      Succulents are like cacti, they only need watering like 1-4 times a week. Dont water them daily with a can and spray water or at least something that doesnt give too much water. Just a question, do you live somewhere with a decent amount of sunlight everyday? Succulents need at least 6 hours or over sunlight.

    I stumbled on to your video by accident. This is great, very clear & concise. I have a question tho. Why does my leaf propagation not look like yours and many others? I’m talking about the cluster of pups which I don’t get right at the mother leaf. Mine has, what I call a tail, with the pups on top of that. I laid them on top of dry soil and that’s how they formed.

    Hi quick question! Hopefully you see this and reply 😭🙌 as far as the soil goes, does it have to be quick draining soil specifically for succulents/cactus or does it have to be regular potting soil for the propagation rooting process? If it does have to be regular potting soil, when would you say it's ideal to transfer to its corresponding quick draining succulent/cactus soil?
    And for the leafs themselves and that time frame of 30 days, would you recommend putting them outside where they get direct sunlight for a few hours a day or inside your home near direct lighting??

    • @jonathanl9229
      @jonathanl9229 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this question is a couple years old, but, in case anyone else has the same question- the answer is- Yes! You do want to let the succulent leaves dry out on a paper towel for a few days. The ends will turn almost brown which means the leaf is calloused and can now be sprayed with water. If the leaf gets wet before it has calloused- it will rot very easily.

    i seen a couple flies not saying its not clean but it reminded me that if anyone has any fly problems with their plants mix dish soap with your water them with that. soap is safe for the plants but keeps them away

    Khang, I'm desperately going to try your method. I've never had luck propagating leaves. I rushed & plucked some leaves. Using a black plastic recycle container too. Counting 15 days then I'm looking for baby sprouting.

    I love leaf cutting to make them grow :-) I usually propagating using different kinds of succulents in the same pot. I usually use a name tag for each succulent to put next to the leaf so that I won't be confused in this case. Just a small tips from Korea :-) 💖💖💖

    Do you spray once it’s in the soil too?

    • @susanramsay4189
      @susanramsay4189 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You keep the SOIL moist. The leaves don't absorb water, the roots send the water to the leaf.

    I live in central FL and now at the end of June it’s extremely HOT & HUMID here. I’ve put some of my leaves w/o soil and some that were ready for soil (they grew the tiny plant and roots) in direct and indirect sunlight. On many of mine, the old leaf that the new plants were started from turned brown and “soggy” feeling. I think the humidity and unpredictable scattered torrential rain have had a lot to do with the number of plants I’ve lost to rot 🙁, as well as contributing to mealy bug infestation 😢. When I watered the ones on/in soil I used either a mister or a trickle of water a couple millimeters from the plant end to encourage the roots to seek the water. I just wanted to say that if you live in a hot humid environment your plants may need careful watching. If you have any info to help with these issues I’d love to hear it. By the way I love your videos and have learned so much from you 🌵💚. Thanks so much!!

    Don't you have to dry the cuttings first before you spray them?

      I believe if you’re just letting them sit in sun for awhile they can sprout either way. My Echeveria always drops leaves in the winter months and I usually just let them sit in there with the soil and just a few days ago I noticed a lil sprouting! (I’m a newbie)

      And somewhere, someone is propagating without even meaning to
      Like when you keep trying to grow something out of seeds, to no avail. But then a seed accidentally falls in the soil and you get a tree within a week!

    You don't really need a whole large glass full of soil do you? You could use a smaller container? I don't have a microwave. What if I heated on top of stove or in the oven?

    Can you show the next step? What happens with the stem after it's propagated? Does it fall off by itself? Thank you.
