  • Today I'm sharing Sarah Renae Clark's Color Cube and how I am using them to choose a color palette for a brand new sketchbook. This is a great color mixing project to get you out of your comfort zone and into new color combinations. Join me as the start a new sketchbook just for this process. It is a great example of the Art of Practice.

      Ahh, thank you so much! I've been painting full time for 30 years now which makes color mixing second nature for me. Glad you enjoyed it!

    Taking the colors of a pie and putting them on an old leaf is unique and adventurous. Please do show us more challenges like this; it's very inspiring.

    You always nail the colors immediately, what a joy to watch. I have the two sets stuck in a closet. They were a great idea at the time, but then I didn’t know what to do when I had them in hand. Maybe I’ll try working with just a small number of them, and be happy if succeed with a few colors. Thank you. Please continue working with these cards. You’re a wonderful teacher.

    • @kellyhoernig
      @kellyhoernig  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The whole set is just overwhelming. Go through a cube and select 10 that you really connect with (image or color) and just start mixing. Who knows where it will take you next. Thank you for watching and welcome to In the Studio!

    Wonderful idea. I bought a book very similar to this with different pallets that I would not have seen different colors before. After watching your videos I look at my magazines, books, anything in a whole new way as to what I would like to try to paint.Would love to see more of your work or what inspires you. Thank you for your creativity.

    Isn't this a FABULOUS tool for creating? I have the digital version of these. While I am usually a 'tacticle' girl, who likes to have them in my hand, I find the digital version to be very useful and satisfying, too. It is SO easy to type in a color preference and go right to your choices. And with me trying to minimize the amount of 'stuff' I have, the digital version was perfect. Thank you for showing us how you use them. There are always so many wonderful ways to be creative. I have needed you this year more than ever!

    I’m actually shocked at how much I’ve learned from you!! I did pretty well until I came to the last 2. So I need to work on my complimentary color mixing. I think the Circle of Delight course, along with the Artful Advent has advanced my understanding of color so much. Thanks so much!!

      Thank you for the great testimonial for my courses, I appreciate that so much! Complimentary color mixing is probably the one I use the most because it instantly takes away the brightness for me and my muted palette. Glad you played along with me YEAH!

    I noticed is a couple videos you refer to davys grey as a blue but I’m pretty sure it’s a green. Check the pigments on your tube of davys grey paint

    • @kellyhoernig
      @kellyhoernig  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On my palette of colors, it is a blue because my greens are much more yellow toned. It's all relative for what surrounds it in my opinion.
