Concert programming is my favorite thing - my problem is usually too many ideas and not enough time! Right now I'm working on a program for my duo that's themed around children's stories and fairy tales 😁
Is there a chance the interviews and any of your music will be available somewhere on TH-cam? How exciting to see you playing after seeing the first time you guys went out there just to investigate the site. So excited for y'all
Thank you so much for the support, Heidi! Not sure yet if we will have videos to post, waiting to get some footage back from the videographer, but will definitely post if we get any good clips 🙂
I am LOVING your videos so much. I work as a corporate lawyer in Durban, South Africa so my life is different to yours. I've always loved music, though, and I have a strong admiration for the dedication that goes into working as a musician. Thanks for sharing these glimpses of your life with us. ❤
If I had to program a concert it would definitely be all my favorite pieces. Peter and the Wolf medley, Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony, lieutenant Kiji. So maybe a Russian theme. I would just love to play all those pieces
hmmm if i had to put together a program, i would do...Pavane by Ravel, some good old Toccata and Fugue in Dm, and then maybe an Etude Op 93 to top it off 😄
I had concert band contest and by some miracle we got d1 but this was not a good band and no one practiced so it was fought. But I am first chair flute and the judge who worked with us Made me play a passage by myself but thankfully I didn’t screw up. So excited for another vid
As a composer, I have never set up a concert program. If I had to, I would pick some of my piano compositions with a variety of piano styles. I do have several flute ensembles (flute duet to flute choir) and it would be difficult to select many of the pieces.
I am a retired freelance tenor, choir director, vocal coach etc. that had work every weekend for literally 55 years! I did concerts of every kind, all the Bach. Beethoven's 9ths and Mozart you could ever hope for. But i wasnt limited to those genres. Mostly NYC, NJ, and PA, although I directed choirs in WA and FL for my last 15 years before I retired. In NY, I did stuff at St, Pat's, St Thomas, Riverside, and others! I did Carnegie Hall at 13, and 5 Rockefeller Center tree lightings. I was the best tenor noone could name! Lol! I did Ren Faires, Mafia Restaurants and even back up for Andy Williams and a group called The Chieftains. The point is, the house is paid for and I loved my life racking up memories that are incredible! Why? Because I loved music! Did I have to do other things? Sure! I taught, I restored and worked on pipe organs and pianos, I restored instruments, I did what I had to! Legally! LoL! Small audiences up to 40,000 at baseball games! Whatta life! Why am I sharing this? Because I can see that you are loving what you're doing! You love music and it shows! You can do this and I applaud you! I found your channel because in my retirement, I decided to teach myself to play brass and winds. I just restored a flute for myself and I found one of your beginners videos! It was great! I subscribed! Thank you, I'm glad I found you! Good luck in your career! Go get 'em! Have Fun, Bill O'
Have you ever heard of Herman Beeftink? He is an awesome composer that I not long ago came across. He composes for piano and flute. He has featured Rama Kumaran on his absolutely fab' compositon called, " Summer". I so do love that work.
Loved the vlog ❤. Looking forward to the next one! Besides the very interesting content the video shows your excellent filming and editing skills. I also like your choice of jazzy background music of the video. Can you please share the name of the jazz musicians?
Thank you so much! 🙏 I get the music from a royalty-free subscription website called Epidemic Sound, so it is several different bands/musicians. I use music from the band "Nocturnal Spirits" a lot though!
Hi! I used to play piano, so I'd love to get back to that someday ☺ Glad you've picked up the flute! What's it like coming from a clarinet perspective?
Zelda music is lovely! There are some beautiful flute melodies in "Viva Piñata" which is an XBox 360 game. I love video game soundtracks. Sometimes I like the music more than the game itself 😂
Which type of the ear plugs do you use to get some noise reduction but not total? I always wear protection with the pic but low tech I'd like to get something more suitable. Thank you if you can reply.
katie where are you? 😢 i’ve been waiting for a new upload 😭
Miguelito!! Nooooo, it's concert day!! Let momma warm up! 🐶😁
I may work hard but Miguel works harder 🤣
Miguel is adorable and I think he's trying to harmonize with you! 🤔😁👍

Honored to have been in a katieflute vlog! 😭
Have you ever wanted to learn another instrument Katie? I’ve been playing the clarinet for 27 years and just picked up to learn the flute this year 😊

miss your videos
We do have a ‘music as a business’ class, but it’s taken Senior year and I heard it’s just a filler class.
Thank you for sharing your life with us❤

Katie hasn't posted in five months! Anyone know what's up?
You should try playing the piccolo part from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild theme. That always gives me the chills.... 🥶🥶

Isn't Grace Farms where some of the last scenes in the film Maestro is from? 😀

Hello, When will you come to Barcelona?
Your life sounds amazing! Wish i was part of a band
I also have tmj, saxophonist
I want to do a concert in that space. Who would I talk to?
Hi! The music director runs the concert series there, but you might be able to find more general info on the Grace Farms website 🙂
