Omg I live in Chicago, I just got a brand new open holed flute a few weeks ago and it is my pride and joy the flute center is one of my all time favorite websites to browse. And your comment about the weather in Chicago is literally every day, we experience all four seasons in 24 hours more times than is normal

Wow all those Mancke head joints sounded fantastic. Especially the last one. $$$$$$$. I often wonder if the brand of flute or the head joint really makes that much difference and I kind of still feel the same way You sound amazing on each and every one. But I will say the Emmanuel sounded like it was a little bit tougher to play. That's the only difference I could hear you are a beautiful flute player with a beautiful sound so I was trying to find the other differences. But I didn't hear that much of a difference maybe you did in the room

Hey, looks like you had a great time at the candy store☺️😁 I like your sound best on your own muramatsu with Mancke 18k and the Faulisi headjoint. Perhaps you should try your own flute with some different material Faulisi head joints?
I also loved the pink ivory head joint 🩷

26:24 if it helps you at all with the “Silver” crisis, I played a 9k flute for a long time and loved owning a gold flute.
I now play a silver flute, that I love, with an unplayed Nickel silver (like the old flutes we played on as kids) tube and a silver lip, riser, etc that was made by Juan Arista.
Didn’t expect to love it. Now it’s my companion!

How sweet the sound of the wooden headjoints!!! ❤❤

You sounded much more comfortable on the Powell/Faulisi combo than your own. While your flute is beautiful and you sound lovely on anything, you just seemed to struggle less on the Powell.

You sound amazing on everything but, wow, that Mancke with kingwood is stunning!! Sweetness plus power!

I liked the original headjoint the most! The second choice: the Mancke Olive wood tube, lip plate and riser. The pink ivory sounded good too. Your Muramatsu flute sounds so good! I like the sound and the timbre is nice, it has character, it lives. The lower range is so good too. The vlogs/your content are, as always, relaxed and so much fun. Thank you for making me happy every time! :)

I'm a bit of a Powell homer, BUT, I've listened to a lot of your videos and you on the Powell sounded so effortless and beautiful....like everything you're trying to put into the phrase and the tone and the articulation is coming out. A real pleasure.

I love your channel and your exceptional playing. If you really love the Failisi/Powell combo I'm guessing that you would be just as happy or happier putting a Faulisi headjoint on your Muramatsu flute. The Faulisi/Powell setup has a nice responsiveness, but seemed to lack the power of your Muramatsu, which may not be aparent in s small indoor space such as F C Chicago. That power is a hallmark of a top professional. I don't think that I would trade it for a little easier response. Of course, if you can afford it, there's no harm in having two nice flute setups. Once you start selling good instruments to pay for other instruments you take a pretty big "haircut" in value, so don't do it lightly.

My favorite Kuhlau duet. Hoping you took home the guo bass, the powell faulisi, and the pink ivory mancke.

You sound amazing on everything, you sound like “you”, even on the Guo! Of all of those trials, I thought the Emmanuel had the most potential, a little more resistance that you might find you enjoy as you get used to it, and a clear lower register. I thought the gold Manckes were a bit too shrill in the upper register. As for woodies, the pink ivory was lovely and warm. And it’s pink! 😌
Sounds like you need to get a hold of some gold Faulisis to try! May I also suggest trying a Lafin. I put one on my silver Muramatsu, and it was a game changer.

So glad you got to play the pink bass/tenor flute. Had just bought the gray one and really like it. Had hoped you would have done a review on it before buying due to the composite nature, but it suits my playing and budget.

Sound wise my favorites were the Mancke with the wooden lip plate and the ivory one. Overall favorite was the Emanuel because I think you sounded best on that. To me your articulation sounded very precise on your and the Emanuel headjoint, but a little “fuzzy” on the Manckes.

The duet sounded so lovely! Loved the pink ivory headjoint but nothing compared to the Faulisi sound! I hope you bought it! :)
Isn't it funny how much our identity is tied to our instrument? The thought of giving up your Muramatsu probably cuts very deeply!

Of the wood head joints I liked the 2nd one, but maybe for baroque music only. It was soft and suited to the music. You sounded beautiful on all the options but I think I liked your flute the best.

You should try the Faulisi HJ with your 9K body. maybe that makes the difference when the articulation is better with the HJ but you still want the silky sound of the gold

I'm in the UK but I brought a new voice piccolo after you trialled one. Alas I only brought a white one but it is super fab and fun to play.

I don't hear differences very well... I would need to play the flutes. It's fun to watch and listen, but my own flute (a 1970 Armstrong Heritage C foot) suits my modest needs very well. And what's really fun is the plastic Nuvo flute. It's great for just goofing around, going for hikes, and if you happen to drop it in the creek, it's entirely waterproof.

Gold: preferred the 14k Mancke the most! The one with the wouldn’t lip plate didn’t do it for me - slightly too wispy.
Wood: Pink ivory really suited you!
