Those kinetoscopes in the asylum with their minimalist content is immensely disturbing. Like they were filmed just so that those…lunatics could have an idea of the outside world.
I’m pretty sure the lunatics were originally criminals that were turned into those THINGS as punishment, so they probably do know what the outside world looks like... if they remember that is
In many senses, Columbia ends up being North Korea 🇰🇵 with a Star Spangled paint job. The first thing you do when you enter North Korea is bow to a statue of their supreme leader, treated there as a divine figure, no different from how Columbia treats their Prophet.
Back then, they had NO idea what was in that stuff, so they were like, "Yeah, just give 'em to your kids. While your at it, give them to your pregnant wife! She'd probably love these!"
Heroin was used as children’s medicine back in the day. Cocaine used to be a gum ingredient. The Romans used Lead Paint 🎨 as salad dressing 🥗. But of course, there’s nothing we do today that we’ll regret years from now, right? Right?
SWEET! Just the thing i needed to further analyze the practices of racism in bioshock! Thanks to you mate i ll be able to find the needed pictures and quotes that i needed tyvm!
I draw parallels between this and propaganda from countries like North Korea. Over there, there’s a rigid class system where of the 50 social classes, only 4 families are living in comfort while everyone else toils. I’d like to recommend Yeonmi Park’s channel, she paints quite a damning picture of life in the dictatorship in question.
I hate how short these and the voxophones are. They barely tell a story. I'm not asking for a novel or for all the clues to be filled in, but give me something more than a "AS EVERY RESIDENT KNOWS" or a flavorless recording of someone narrating their own day.
Yeah, I know how you feel bro. Some of the earlier voxophones and kinetoscopes can be kind of confusing, especially when you know little about the plot. Thankfully, as you progress, more details are eventually revealed about the plot, and said voxophones and kinetoscopes each found in their respective levels elaborate a little more on plot elements.
That jingle is so catchy lmao
Thanks and rest in peace William R. Foreman... You will not be forgotten.
Yep, even though we know absolutely nothing about him, not even what he looks or sounds like
@@MisterJohnDoe His cutscenes were likely done in engine, with the final one being a recording done by a dev actually playing through it.
I have to say, I was completely caught off guard when the camera man suddenly fell to his death, and the frame after that made me laugh quite a bit.
Kinda late but now that I'm replaying it again, those ones freak me the hell out.
Even as I. Memory was a Miracle managed to claim the footage after the accident before going off the falls down to America or the Atlantic ocean

Kemonokami wow. I never even noticed that.

Yup XD The funny thing is that cigarettes increase salts but reduce health, and alcohol increases health and reduces salts.
“Drugs are bad, m’kay?” -Mr. Mackey
I could see North Korea creating a series of Kinetoscopes of their own...

This really was what movies were like back in the day.
i wonder, how easily could these have sunk into the people at the time in reality?
THE SONGS PLAYED is Indian Love Call by Billy Vaughn
This version is actually made by Sigmund Krumgold

Smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol, kids
they make you grow up a good and healthy man!!
The world wasn’t very smart back then
Is it healthy to be smoking cigarettes when you live in a city at the altitude of 14,000'? Oxygen is already pretty thin.
Just such an amazing game. It may be the best video game ever made.
whats the songs played in each kinetoscope?
Mario Pena Indian Love Call by Billy Vaughn
Thanks so much for this. I have a graphics card that isn't fully capable of running certain HUD features, so I couldn't view some of these.
"Quantum mechanics says little lady"... Nobody calls Commander Shepard little!
“Commander Shepherd” I’m gonna start using that
Do all the Columbia children have scoliosis? LOL

There’s plenty of guides for that, just google it.

Why can't this jingle be a ring tone?!
Average Joe Indian Love Call by Billy Vaughn
Most of the ones I find do repeats of the same ones and not all the ones in total
