Now...now... Star Trek went on to bigger things...but Lost in Space will always be special to me... They had the BEST music thanks to some little known composer by the name of Johnny Williams... and they are the FIRST FAMILY OF SPACE.
Very Cool, and nicely done. Even though ST gets the credit for being the "Wagon Train to the Stars" Sci-Fi series, Lost In Space actually deserves that honor. Gene and Irwin knew each other well, but rarely spoke to others about the respect they had for one another's work. Majel spoke about this once in an interview done at Galactic Con, where she was a guest. This was back in the mid 80s.
I would of like to see an episode of Star Trek where the Enterprise encounters the Jupiter 2 from Lost in Space finding the remains of dr. Smith in the chair where he buckle himself the day the Jupiter 2 lifted off. The Landing party revived the Robinson family including major West the Robinson family along with major West and the robot takes control of the Enterprise forcing the Enterprise to take them to Alpha Centauri Now that would have been a good episode
I always thought when the Star Trek movies started that both show came together where the Enterprise rescues the Robinson family who froze themselves again to stay alive and became unfrozen in 23 century and while they were just getting adjusted the Jupiter 2 is attacked by a enemy of the Federation sends a distress call and Kirk and crew comes to the rescue and beams the Jupiter 2 crew on board before it is destroyed and watches the Enterprise destroy the enemy!
Slow down! Try some punctuation next time. You have a sentence there with 83 words in it. There are two other sentences I found that are longer - one has 630 words, the other 516 words.
They should do a Lost in Space the next generation like they did with Star Trek, maybe more along the lines of season 1 than 2 or 3 that became sillier, grown up Penny and Will and the children for Don and Judy could be in it as Don and Judy were a couple on the show.
The Superman cartoons of the 1940's were also pro USA military and had an episode called Japateur about a Japanese man trying to stop an American flying aircraft carrier carrying bomber planes. Superman also wrecked a japanese submarine in another one with no thought about lives onboard much different than the Superman of the 1960's who didn't kill. They also had someone Resembling Testla who had transforming robots that arms and feet turned into wings and sprout propellors from necks to fly
@hamiltonpl: Kevin Burns who works for Fox has lawers scour the internet in search of "un-authorized" usage. It would be one thing if 20th Century Fox were actually DOING anything with the franchise. Often times, really creative stuff gets 'Lost in Space'.... or at the very least, kicked of the internet.
Damn copyright nazi's LOL!!! I watched this clip and thought it was about the funniest thing Ive ever seen! I'm gonna go check out the rest of it from the link you gave here in a bit... Thanks for posting this it looks incredibly entertaining!!!!
In a kind of way, though not exactly, I would compare LOST IN SPACE to classical Greek and STAR TREK to classical Latin! What the Greeks did the Romans would never do, and vice versa. They are both TV shows that reflect the original SPACE RACE Era ever since the launch of Sputnik. From the modern contemporary standpoint there's something in Lost in space that's missing in Star Trek, yet there's something in Star trek that's missing in Lost in Space, From the Romans came the REPUBLIC, from the Greeks DEMOCRACY.
Well perhaps the problem is the FANS who are latching on to the glitzy special effects and exciting space battle aspect of the show, and are ignoring the exploration and diplomacy that has always been a big part of what Star Trek is all about. But in all fairness, if you are going to do a TV series about the meeting of alien races, you do need to create some conflict to make things interesting. And the same goes for any drmatic TV show. How interesting would the SOPRANOS be without conflict?
Lost in space Star Trek was called Star Trek Voyager where they couldn't return to Federation space. Original series has Harry Mudd similar to Dr. Smith, the Companion similar to Mr. Nobody. LIS met god Thor ST met god Appollo. LIS attacked by giant Cyclops St attacked by giant Cavemen. Robot said does not compute Spock not logical.Next Generation had Wesley similar to Will with a red headed mother similar to mrs.Robinson.Robot turned off by removing power pack from back Data by button in back.
Don't get me wrong, politically I am very middle of the road and try to see the arguments on both side of Left and Right. When I saw the TRANSFORMERS movie, althgough i am not much of a fan of the original animated show,I was struck at just how pro military the film was. I believe that we MUST have a strong military, but to me the TRANSFORMERS is a KIDS movie, and it may have glorified was just a bit. Have you a link to this video of which you speak?
Yes conflict is a critical aspect of story telling. Your argument only strengthens my position that our culture, society is moving much more towards accepting war and violence as the ONLY way to add conflict to story telling. The TH-cam special effects videos for Star Trek deal with battle and war, the LIS videos have nothing to do with battle. There is an superb CG LIS video that is simply wonderful.
Lost in Space was a great tv series but it was Gene Barry's pitch to CBS for the Wagon Train to the Stars that inspired CBS to launch Lost in Space they shot down Gene's idea and came up with a winning show
I could not disagree more. I find STAR TREK incredibly liberal in it's points of view. And Kirk would never fire on a tiny vessel like the Jupiter 2, that was clearly no threat to the Enterprise. MJB
No you don't get it. Star Trek as a cult has become the most militarist science fiction epic of them all. More than BSG -- which I never liked. Search for videos produced by TH-camrs, the vast number feature nothing more than space battles. Phasers, Sheilds, explosions, destruction. That's not the future I want -- so why should I want that in a science fiction program. Science fiction should take me to where my mind has not gone before.
So where is the who was hotter Judy Robinson or Janice Rann? For girls Guy Williams or William Shatner? For old people or fat people, Dr. Smith or Harry Mudd.
Now...now... Star Trek went on to bigger things...but Lost in Space will always be special to me... They had the BEST music thanks to some little known composer by the name of Johnny Williams... and they are the FIRST FAMILY OF SPACE.
That's GREAT! I love both shows! Too bad they didn't do something like this back in the 60's!

the robot and dr smith in the main viewer was priceless ! well done !
Phil, I watched the entire episode on Vimeo. I must praise you on a job very well done! Thank you!

Good plot for a crossover episode.
And Dr. Smith could have been a complete annoyance for the Enterprise crew, as always.

It was a nice experiment in video editing. It's hard to make a solid plot with original footage. Good job on the video.
I would like to see the whole thing. It was great
Just watched the episode on Vimeo….loved it
Michael Weatherly would be a great Jim Kirk. I think its clear the former, NCIS actor, watched alot of Star Trek TOS growing up...lol.

I just watched the complete video. I loved it! GREAT JOB!
How will the Enterprise get out of _this_ one?

Remarkably well done...but WHY do all the ST/LIS video X-overs have Kirk attacking the Jupiter 2?
MJB
this was greatest tv show , showed the future of America and the world
That is the "Balance of terror" episode, I think... Or was, in any event. :)
It seems like they would beam them up since they are lost in space to help the federation get a new feather in their hat. Interesting.
They must have historical records on Dr. Smith and are NOT going to tolerate his saboteur personality! - LOL
Wait, how can the enterprise see the inside of the other ship???
Because it’s television and storytelling.
@@brianmatthews2503
Nooooo. Star Trek is FACTUAL events that’s going to happen in the near future!
@@jimliu2560 None of it is factual at this point in time.
loved it
The first season of Lost in Space wasn't as cheesy and season 2 and 3 were up against Batman which was even more cheesy.
-Spock, can you identify them?

More! Hurry up pls.
you want to get a star trek fan mad.. a really huge star trek fan. Remind they Lost in space had better rating
Some Star Trek fans are also Lost in Space fans. Babylon 5 had an actor from each show.
Don't forget the Netflix remake.
That would be a one sided fist fight...
its not because the star trek pilot episode came 1 year before lost in space

very awesome.
The J 2 is an unarmed ship!
In The last episode of Lost In Space Called Junkyard Of Space we see the Jupiter2 Has Defenses missle launcher
Myself, I liked both shows.
Because Star Trek is a militaristic view of the future. The Jupiter 2 just wants to get home.
Outrageously funny!!!

waste of time
