      @@DaveLikesKnives Well, I got the knife! Button quite hard to engage, but that is great, you feel the strength of the spring shooting out the blade. The handle was not overly big and fits perfectly as a no-slip hand-conform device. Very heavy, seems indestructible. I would have added a skull crusher with lanyard hole.... Other than that there is nothing I would say that lags. So some people lost some screws. That can happen. My screws are firm. Also Böker has a more expensive model OTF Coyote for those who want an even more expensive knife. I think this is a brick that gets the job done with flying colors. And the blade shape is a Wow!

    06:54 You're welcome - watching the strain it takes to fire the blade in that awkward position I was actually thinking your hand would fall into the blade path when the threshold of the deployment mechanism was exceeded. Thanks for the review! Like any tool, the handle has to fit the hand, and my glove size is XL to XXL depending on the glove. I have a microtech and it's a marvel, but the handle is so slim for me that it wants to slide right out, or if used to puncture in a pushing/stabbing motion, my hand wants slide right over onto the blade. Because of this, it's more of a novelty for me. It seems this Boker OTF has the meat I need to securely grip the knife no matter how cold or wet my hands are or if I'm wearing gloves. If I end up buying this knife, this will be my 4th Boker in D2.

      @SuperRamcharger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DaveLikesKnives Been using it for a month now at home and work and I love it! It's my new favorite EDC. Fit's my hand perfect, I feel it's safer to carry vs. a pre-loaded side opener and the blade quality is perfect for what I use it for (heavy cardboard, thick plastic sheeting, plastic bags, opening boxes, etc.) It looks a little odd due to the handle being so larger than the blade, but it's totally functional.

  • @CaneFu

    I have actually seriously cut myself before with folding knives. I would be focused on a task and then carelessly close the folder and the blade would spring shut on my fingers; I'm a klutz, what else can I say. So now I only use an OTF or a fixed blade knife.

    I do prefer the pocket clip on this over the one on the side-deploying AK, but I’m not sure why latter gets so much hate.

    • @DaveLikesKnives
      @DaveLikesKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t hate it like I used to, but it’s still criminally ugly. The plus side of the bumpiness is that you can grab it to help draw, but naysayers would argue that other knives don’t have that “feature” or problem.

    Great vid my friend. I've noticed you have an 06 auto, when you first got it was it slow opening? I know there is a break in period but I'm just wondering cause mine seems like it's getting faster with use. My Kershaw launch flys open to the point if I don't have a good hold it will jump outta my hand. What's your thoughts? Maybe a mega coil spring? I have to say you need more subs your content is very informative and to the point. Keep up the great work

    • @DaveLikesKnives
      @DaveLikesKnives  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the praise, but I know my other Launch 1 (not the all black) snaps so hard it jerks my hand like you’re talking about. I am going to do a spring change on my 06 at some point because I want it to hit harder than it does (it is better than at first but still sluggish) but I’m not doing the super spring. On... knifekits? there are three severities of spring and I’ve heard stories of the big boy screwing up their 06’s stop pin. The smallest should add some much needed snap without the dreaded SNAP.

      Blue is light, it’s easily broken but you have to do it intentionally. Red is PERMANENT. If you use red locktite, the screw is done. You’re gonna have to break it to open it. Purple is weird because it’s supposed to be a medium between the two but I can’t imagine a use case to which that would apply.

    Böker is a famous knifemaker that has nice folders made out of Tirpitz and tank armour. I think Microtech is about name and technology, which went a bit too far from reality, like Strider. I think that a German-made knife cannot be bad. D2 steel is more than good enough. And who uses an OTF knife anyway? Should be illegal to carry in 99% of the civilized world. So I think Böker nailed it with this design..... Handle is made for men not kids.:) Lol!
