Ichibei said as long as your alive you will never open your eyes, the minute he was killed and the prophecy set forth he got his power back. He just couldn't open them right away without killing his army

That sounds like the kind of gambit Yhwach would engage in even if it's a humiliating defeat and it seems he's dead. That meeting with Ichibei was very interesting, makes you wonder at the levels of communication and negotiation Quincy and Shinigami engaged in before things escalated dramatically.

Hmm, makes sense and goes along with what I commented on yesterday's video. The left hand of progress, Pernida, was the catalyst that allowed Yhwach to be reborn after he "died" and the seal was lifted. Good point about Yhwach smiling during the first invasion, I didn't remember that part but it's some nice foreshadowing that his goal was achieved given this past episode.

I definitely think this is the case now. It's crazy too because it gives Yhwach an even more "Christ/Messiah-like" theme to his character - the "divine plan" was that he would sacrifice his life so that he can be resurrected with "God's power" and come into his true nature as the rightful divine "Savior" of the world. Kubo deserves some real applause for that neat narrative trick.

I'd thought similarly the first few times I saw that flashback, that Yamamoto killing Yhwach was part of Yhwach's plan to revive the Almighty. It might also explain why the Almighty transfers between Yhwach and Haschwalth, since the Left Hand is now one of the few things that can alter how the Almighty functions. Maybe just taking the Left Hand or his death/rebirth permanently affected the Almighty in such a way that he can't keep it within himself all the time anymore.

Yama has literally no answer for the Almighty.
Like, unless you specifically have a part of the Soul King making you a blindspot, or some way to otherwise mess with the visions - you just lose full stop.
And even having that ability doesn't mean you're necessarily going to win, it just means your not guaranteed to lose.
For all practical purposes, Yhwach at the end is so far above everyone else in the setting it required the use of a gigantic dues ex machina that both made zero sense, and was a total plothole, just to put the series to bed in a way that was an obviously canned corporate 'happy ending'.

This is a very good speculation! I like how you tied Pernida into Yhwach's plan to resurrect himself!
I think he used the Almighty and realized - even before the meeting with Ichibe - that he would have to lose his first encounter with Yamamoto in order to put his forces in a position to win eventually. His strategy brought Pernida from Ichibe's control onto his side permanently while only costing him temporary loss of the Almighty. He sacrificed his life (again temporarily) and the lives of the bulk of his forces to trick the original (strongest) Gotei 13 into believing they had won, all to hide the movement of a smaller, carefully chosen force to invade the shadows of Seireitei (giving him a strategic advantage in the future). Their loss also served as a motivation for his forces, a grudge against the Shinigami, in ages to come. The Quincies improve their techniques in the intervening millennium and grow their forces in secret, while the Gotei 13 are fooled into believing they have exterminated the remaining Quincies as their strongest generation is replaced by weaker shinigami (only five of whom Yhwach considers potential threats). He had his strategy all planned before he even met with Ichibe that day.

Yhwach couldn't use the Allmighty because he was the host of a soul king piece, so he couldn't see his own future. So he probably used his power granting to infuse it into a schrift.

  • @juanpace1066
    @juanpace1066 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

The way I see it was this.Pernida's abilities allow for progression which included knowledge and techniques.I think Ichibei was able to take advantage of this by putting Yhwach in his own state of progress sort of like a one step back but two steps forward. He counted on Yhwach's mindset to leave his abilities locked up forever since he thought he'd never change. That was his error cause now that Yhwach knows about the king his mindset went from docile to going on the offense hence why I think Pernida enhanced the Almighty so he can change the future now not just see it fitting considering Yhwach and all the soul kings parts give out abilities suited to personalities of the person.

  • @ahjuxue2121

It would be soooo cool if the way he gets his name back is b/c Ichibe renamed Yhwach to Black Ant. Thus, the name Yhwach ceased to exist (died) and brought back the Almighty. It would complete the whole part of that everything is already fortold to Yhwach by the almighty all along (even since then). This prob won't happen but it would be cool.
We are seeing that Ichibe's name removal ability does not just make things weaker but even can change the purpose or meaning of things. By renaming Yhwach to Black Ant, he removed the existence of Yhwach thus giving him his powers back.

  • @tricwriterr

Nice theory but there is one problem. According to Mayuri (who apparently had access to archival information) Yhwach did not die. Mayuri blamed Yamamoto for not ending Yhwach's life thus allowing the Quincy to survive. Meaning, as far as we know, Yhwa never died but perhaps was rendered in a state where he did not consume Quincy lifeforce and thus returned to the way he was as a child - could not hear, speak, smell etc. We could speculate that in his battle against Yama he somehow separated the Left Hand which helped him escape (can see no other way how we could dodge the killer First Gotei except maybe if he had the Heart back then as well and you know, performed a miracle). I do agree that Pernida was a Quicny, this is implied during his battle with Mayuri where he (or she) refuses to be called Left Hand. Soul King parts don't tend to have a last name and in Gerrard's case I believe the heart just works differently not like the hands. Regarding a deal between Yhwach and the Left Hand there could be two ways to interpret this. If we accept that it governs progress as opposed to Mimihagi's governance of stagnation, then it only partially makes sense that it would want to return the world back to its original state rather than push forward to a new phase. On the other hand this world IS stagnant as it revolves around a cycled existence.

Great video Simo! I was also thinking similarly after i saw the episode, didn't remember that smile though but i do remember asking myself why tf was he smiling during that scene; i chalked it up to the "this is a good fight" kind of thing but your theory makes a lot more sense. Also, i watched the episode with my cousin and she got confused about it so i told her my theory (which is basically the same as Simo's) and she just answered: So he just turned it off and on again to make his eyes work? I just couldn't stop laughing xD.

I don't think Ichibei had the right arm in this scene or even had it in the 1st place. It was said that the arm fell from the heavens a very long time ago. So I'm guessing right after the original sin it was discarded. Also I've seen comments saying he used the right arm to stop/deflect the bullets. I don't think that was the case instead it was his brush/zanpaktou like if you look carefully when he stop the bullets it looks like a bristle behind them.
