Huge update this month of October 2022. For behind the scenes content, link to my Facebook Escarpment group and the link can be found in the description..thanks for watching
The Walthers turntable is a quality piece. So are the Frog Juicers. To be able to modify the turntable in such a way to satisfy your needs is brilliant!
A major update here Jason. So good to see so much now in place. It is a major step to have all the track apart from the but the lift up bridge done. The broken circuit for the bridge is a clever idea to stop nosediving trains. The lighter desk top looks good. Look forward to seeing the next update. Stephen
Wow that workbench area is fantastic, my gosh. The entire update this month is one of a kind. Really beautiful stuff. Great to see the control panels are finalized and they look AMAZING! Cheers Jason. Also, anytime you are considering doing a how to video, I would be very interested. The greenery by the Stanwell viaduct excited me too. Things are going to be out of this world on the Escarpment.
@@JasonWood_Escarpment Oh, it was the automation I believe on the turntable. You had mentioned in the video to let you know if there was interest in seeing that rewiring procedure I think. Anyway, Looks like the space I was hoping for is not going to come through, so my hopes for a railroad are on hold for now. Lets hope 2023 is a little more sane. Best regards!
Thanks Dallas..that is a very good point with the KAs. Will have to think about that issue, as my Paybus and 70 Classes will have them, as well as my x212. Food for thought..cheers
Wow Jason a lot of work done and coming on really well. Love your extension and hope drop bridge works as you want it to work. Take care and look forward to next update. Kevin
Great update Jason. Would be interested to see the details of the turntable modification. The trees look great. Can’t wait for the scenery to really start in Ernest.
Thanks Michael, yeah agree with the scenery..the green exposure has me excited to start the process. There have been a number of people requesting the TT, so no doubt it will turn up in a future video..cheers
Has Mrs Wood called the police Jason? She must think you’ve gone missing🤔😁 Crikey, what a month, so much achieved, good result with the panel’s too. I’m looking forward to seeing the bridge section being built, looks like you’ve got a good plan for it. As for those trees they’ll look great, bet they weren’t cheap! I’m looking forward to making some of my own, I know what you mean about tree sizes too! Great update mate, thoroughly enjoyed it, hope you’re well, cheers for now, John
Hi John..lol almost! It was a big month in lots of areas. I think the liftup will be next..although yesterday I started doing the transplant on the LED lighting new home. Yeah the trees werent cheap and will end up making my own. Take care..regards
Those 2 steel rollcab units , maybe pop the wheels back on one of them and then stack the 2nd one on top with a hardwood work surface to make it a mobile unit that can go around the room and be right there at the area you are working on at any given time ? Great progress and update !
Hi Nick, you will need to explain further in regards to the 2 steel rollcab units, I can be a little slow at times lol. What item are you referring to in particular - what is the time stamp in the video? Appreciate the feedback..regards
@@JasonWood_Escarpment @9.30min the black steel draws , they would of come with castors when new . My thought would be to double stack them one on top of the other to get a nice working height , adding the castors would make it mobile to position close to the work area .
@@Island_Times got it..it may be something I could do when they go down to garage..but no place in the train room for them, as they were under the old workbench..cheers
@@JasonWood_Escarpment no worries, my idea wasn't too store it under anything but to just have it float around where needed and be a small work surface at the same time. I did a similar thing and have a vice on mine and a variety of handy tools in the top draw along with soldering etc
I also use those remote control power points , they are good but if theres a powercut they remain switched off once power is restored . Not sure if that would be important for any of your applications or not . I also bought the Genio wifi power sockets which is essentially the same thing but using an app , the sockets can be programmed as timers and switched on and off remotely (ideal if away from home) and also dont have the issues re powercuts as they revert back to where they were set to originally . (Genio also do remote cameras with the same app , so ideal for security. The app is compatible with the Anko wifi ones from Kmart btw . )
Thanks for the feedback Nick. Don't get a lot of power outages around here and if it did happen it is not a major issue with I am using the technology, it is really just to not needing to crawl under the level 1 to turn power points on. It will do the trick for me. Yeah I do have a security camera, just haven't installed onto the wall as yet, thanks for the info..cheers
wow busy boy with your layout thank you for sharing the video think checking those cap saving units in your DDC loco let loco drive over dead track problem because let loco closed too closed end of track at your doorway?
Why not put a piece of laminate countertop material on the workbench? You could get a light color and it would be a hard surface to work on. Just a thought. Awesome work. Looks outstanding.
wow another great vlog so much info have to admit my knowledge of electrics is limited my mate helps with that can I ask how wide your first and second self is cheers till the next one Alan
Hi Jason - Brilliant update as usual. So envious of your train room and everything that goes with it. Love the hinge system on the gate, different but better in my books. Regarding your CCTV system, would I be right in saying all it is is the monitor and 4 cameras? That is all I need, dont need to record but I really like the zoom in part found by your granddaughter. Kids are so much smarter than my generation. Anyway what is that system you have purchased, wouldn't mind getting one for my layout for the fiddle yard. Regards Chris
Hi Chris, appreciate the feedback and yes I pinch myself that I have been very fortunate to be able to undertake such a journey in this hobby. The system can record if you want it to..just need micro cards etc. I got this particular system from Alibaba, link is: AU $148.80 40%OFF | 10.1 inch Touch Screen Car/RV/Bus/Truck AHD Monitor System 1080P Vehicle CCTV Camera HD Night Vision Reversing Parking Recorder a.aliexpress.com/_mqMWc8G There are different price points depending what you want in your kit..cheers
Hi Jason - Thanks for the reply but I have a few questions as this is all new to me. For a start I do not wish to record as it will only be for monitoring my fiddle yard but I like the idea of having four, perhaps two each end. Looking at the site it states - Camera Set No card on the first box. Am I right in saying this is all I need to get four cameras up and running plus a means of powering it? And I get the same commands on the monitor whereby if I press screen 1 I can basically zoom into the picture twice more like yours does? If that is the case for £149.63 that is a bargain. Guessing wiring up to a mains plug is not to difficult or is there more to this than meets the eye? Regards Chris
Were you allowed to keep an old panel for test drilling? Definitely be consistent , no pressure, let the drill do the work. Incredible layout!! My dad was an executive officer with an American Railroad. So railroading's been in my blood. I watch you just because of how innovative you are.
@@JasonWood_Escarpment About 1 minute, 5 to 7 seconds into your video, the inside track looks like it’s hanging over the facia in mid air. Is that an optical illusion or a work in progress? Cheers Lance
Hi Jason, for some reason TH-cam has unsubscribed me, so to me you have made huge progress! I would recommend that if you want to put the lighting in an enclosure, make sure you have a lot of holes for ventilation (top and bottom), as such a big PSU will develop a lot of heat! Not convinced copper tape on copper tape will produce a reliable connector, something with a wiping contact or spring loaded one side! To guarantee you don't split the perspex of your panels, start with 1mm drill and work your way up in 1mm increments or or even safer and quicker, buy some step drills th-cam.com/video/FaHLQUdE4oo/w-d-xo.html
Hi Timbersurf, it has happened to me as well, for me I think I subbed and was coming back to finish watching, but TH-cam was too impatient lol. Worked on the LED case yesterday and yes, ventilation is the next job. Thanks for the link, I have watched a few previously for the technique..my nervousness is with the accuracy of the holes. Yeah I will experiment with the bridge..there was a comment earlier about using a microswitch..time will tell..cheers
