I then upgraded it with an LED fan at the rear, i use for exhaust. and the case works great so far. (built back in June '19) and temps are pretty cool. under max load cpu hovers around 72ºC and GPU 60ºC
I almost picked up the Fractal Focus G for my son's PC and glad I kept shopping. I found on Amazon the Coolmaster MB511 for $51.99 and just finished swapping the parts out of a Corsair 100R (terrible case). I cannot believe how much better this case is over the Corsair and they both cost around $50. I now can hide all the power supply rats nest cables on a non modular Corsair 600watt. The install is super clean with barely any wires. Would have been nice to have tempered glass but for the price this was one fun build. The HDD cages also removed easily with 4 screws which gave me a ton of room to hide all my PS cables without cramming them at all. I already had 2x140mm & 3x120mm fans coming from the Corsair so this turned out to be an excellent replacement. Only gave up the optical drive which is fine, there are plenty of optical drive systems in the home so he doesn't need it. I liked the fractal brand but then noticed it had no power supply cover and for a windowed case that just wasn't going to cut it.
I liked this video. I loved watching the process. Picking the parts for my build, weighing up the pros and cons on each piece of hardware, was the hardest part. Dropping a feature on one component to use the cash on another. This a great instructional video for people approaching building for the first time and even those with some experience needing to sharpen their skills. Also depresses me how much stuff is cheaper in the states.
Yes. Was SMH the whole time. 256gb ssd? A few bucks more and you get 500gb. And the r5 3600 has the same multicore as 2700x. So I don't know why he chose the 2700x
@@KilianGosewisch he explained more cores.....so better for streaming/editing. However, I think there is an argument for a 2700 rather than the X as if memory serves me correct there is no difference in hardware other than the clocks that can be easily replicated by some small OCs in the bios in the 2 and 3 series Ryzens - the 1 series there was a reason to grab the X
Just an FYI, That memory kit at that speed will not be stable at the default DOCP or XMP settings on second gen Ryzen and B450 chipset. You will need to do some significant manual tuning to the timings and voltages. In fact no kit at 3600 over CL17 is stable in Dual Channel in that system. However, with a bit more work it will run perfectly stable if tuned using 1usmus' DRAM Calculator. F4-3200C16D-16GVGB, is probably the best choice though at that price point and will run stable at default DOCP.
that depends on the part. if you bought the psu new when you first got it then transferred to the new later on thats one thing but i wouldn't recommend buying a used psu for a gaming rig
I recently upgraded monitor and GPU. I have to admit, just those two gave me a hell of a performance/visuals boost. I still want to replace the rest, but I have to be honest with myself and say I don't *really* need to.
Brian Kitchens assuming you got at least a 6 core and 16 gb of ram ur fine. To be honest gpu and monitor are the biggest upgrades you will see, provided u arent bottlenecked. If you have an AMD chipset the next thing would be faster ram, but at that point maybe just do aesthetics lol
You should of considered making the video more of an upgrade with someone who already is going to reuse the PC Case, power supply and storage. Also consider talking about upgrading the Mobo, CPU, and Ram and the video card later to help split the cost so it isn't all upfront. I had a similar computer to your friend but an i7-2700k (on sale for cheaper than 2600), 16 gb memory, and had the Sapphire HD 7870. I would consider talking about when building a new computer or your first computer; that they should really consider the case and power supply to be a huge component of their first build so that if they decide to upgrade in the future, that case and power supply should be good enough to last for about 5 to 10 years. Especially as teen's, usually first time builders, will go into the job market and college and upgrading some of the components will be easier than when they were younger. Great videos man.

To anyone looking for a case with a low budget: get the Cooler Master MB311 or MB320. They’re $60, include 2 ARGB fans, have a tempered glass side panel, and either full mesh front or clear stylish front.
Honestly my guideline for budget PC building is this: save a little bit more for your budget, save yourself a LOT in headaches caused by sub-par parts or bad warranty processes, which is why my lists tend to be a hair over/extremely close to the intended max budget because my part selection is a bit picky based on personal experiences. I put together a list aiming for this same performance level and came to about $1,150, although swapping the case to the Focus G instead of a Meshify C and an IronWolf Pro to a Barracuda did drop that to $1,085.
1 Part at a time really helps. Currently buying 1 part a week and I'm gonna get help with the new 2080 super for Christmas. I should have a beast by the time Christmas comes.
Definitely because a bunch of gamers are using this time to upgrade their systems since they're spending more time with them. Linus tech tips was saying the best time to buy was like a month to a month and a half ago before everything became scarce or jumped in price. That being said, I didn't listen either and here I am looking for parts to upgrade my rig.
Thank you man, I used this guide to build a pc. I used a msi mpg x570 wifi motherboard and a msi 2070s gpu and basically everything else you recommend. I also went with the ryzen 5 3600. I absolutely love it. Thanks again!

I recommended this PC build to someone the other day. They bought exactly all these parts and are gonna start the build. Do you have a beginners how to video out there?
Might be late to this but the button at the back of the tomahawk or the mortar isn't for clearing cmos, it's to flash the bios from a USB drive without needing a cpu or ram with the psu plugged in
Would be $80 here in NY, But I get what your saying, a lot of people don't have the extra $100 for tax and shipping. If you have a max $1000 for a built its really just a $900 build, and that affects what you can build dramatically.
Hey I spent 1200 on a pre built on Amazon and I paid zero tax. Its actually less money than I could have paid for individual parts. Better yet I have really enjoyed the system.
Well then I guess people should have now 200 PC builds for $1000 due to the fact that *taxes arent the same in all places.* So now you want youtubers to take into consideration of the taxes for every country *and* every state/province/territory? GLHF with that
I've noticed PC part picker isnt very reliable. The only time PC part picker helps is if you already have in mind what components you want from prior research and just want an easy way to compare builds and pricing. Other than that its not a good site you start a build from scratch. Always do your research!!!
I just ordered that build from your picks. I went with a case that was 80.00 but has 3 fans installed. With rgb. I also added an aio cooler for the cpu. Wanted the extra bling. Thanks for inspiring me to build it myself.
Yup, that PSU was top notch and no need for a new HDD. I would have bought the new case and added a rear exhaust fan, put the old PSU and HDD and expend a little more for a 500 GB SSD and a Sapphire Pulse 5700 XT instead of the 2060 Super
He said that for the purposes of the video he would also include a new case, psu and hard disk in case anyone following along wanted to build it without any existing components.
But he could have put in some pointers on what to do if you had those parts... This guy is not the only one in need of a near total upgrade, but still has a good PSU and maybe a case. He could mention something along the lines of "If you have this you have this much more money, and then I would go for a 2070super instead" (I think that's the best use of the extra money) but maybe he would get another motherboard, or a 3700X or something.
@@Krydolph if it's primarily for gaming get the 3600, RAM with better timings (C16), an exhaust fan for that case (or reuse the one from your old case) and spend all you have left on the GPU.

I noticed too. I just built my PC in August and like $80 got me a cooler master case with 3 front fans and one exhaust fan.
And where's Phanteks P300/350X and NZXT H500?? Those are $50-75 cases with good airflow even with stock fans, and those are far better looking than the case he chooses.

Wouldn't the 5700 XT be much better at the price? As far as I know it's 15 - 20% faster than the 2060S.
You would be correct. I've seen him do this twice now and I'm wondering if there was some greasy palms involved honestly.
Yes. Was SMH the whole time. 256gb ssd? A few bucks more and you get 500gb.
And the r5 3600 has the same multicore as 2700x. So I don't know why he chose the 2700x
Yes, a bit better...about a 2070 non-super.
Its drivers are horrible still saidly. Big headache

F4-3200C16D-16GVGB, is probably the best choice though at that price point and will run stable at default DOCP.

first tip of mine. reuse older pc parts. I did the same thing for my current one with the graphics card and PSU
that depends on the part. if you bought the psu new when you first got it then transferred to the new later on thats one thing but i wouldn't recommend buying a used psu for a gaming rig

You forgot that you wanted to re-use his old PSU, Case and Harddisk for this Build. :)
He didnt, he recommended it but he made an entire list for the sake of the $1000 budget. (For anyone planning theirs or wanting this recommendation)
