    Getting a bigger case than needed is something I always recommend.. My case fits my 6800 nicely but I was planning on getting a 6950XT when they started dropping in price but I have to be careful because I'll be hitting right at the length that some of the models aren't going to fit.

  • @StarShopping69
    @StarShopping69 ปีที่แล้ว +34

    There’s a huge market for content in this price range. Everyone loves the new stuff but with every build being 13900’s and 4090’s most people are looking to see low to mid-ranger builds to mix it up.

    • @jtully87
      @jtully87 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No kidding, I'm looking to build a relatively up to date intel unit and the 12600k is around $200 which I think is the sweet spot for a budget CPU. The 13600k is reasonable but personally I don't see it as worth the ~50% increase in price when trying to build a "budget" gaming computer. Both support DDR4 & 5 so you can cheap out with a LGA1700 DDR4 board now and upgrade it when the LGA1700 DDR5 boards come down.

    • @paulmeyer1001
      @paulmeyer1001 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jtully87 for $1,000 if you went used you could easily get a 12600k/13400, 32GB ram, 2TB NVMe, and I'd say a 3070 or maybe a 3080. A bit disappointed in a 3060ti for a grand....but that's what you get for buying new

    • @em.dot.2
      @em.dot.2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @jtully87 Your last point is technically true, but in reality, it wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade to move your 12600k into a new MoBo just for DDR5. At the point an upgrade to DDR5 is what you want, you'd be better off just buying a new CPU that can make better use of the higher speeds of DDR5.

    Good observation. It is very challenging to "blackout" a build nowadays. I had to settle for an MSI Mag Z790 Tomahawk, which has its fair share of its issues that is widely known among customers. I decided to go with it anyway due to it being all black and price being at least $100 less than most Z790 motherboards. The first Mag Z790 Tomahawk was DOA. Second one seems to be running well, so far.

    I definitely will feel super comfortable whenever I go to the Micro Center to get the parts t build my first PC. We were there once, in 2020, but only because we were on the way hope from a trip to Florida and were driving the long scenic route home, around 20 hours, and passed right near one near Cleveland OH, so we decided to check it out, got a mouse which I actually needed, and an outlet adapter for our car. The mouse still works like a charm to this day too. It was Inland, their store brand if I remember right. It was $20, and feels amazing. Just like top of the line mice.

    I dont think its that costly to go with AM5. Microcenter has a bundle with the 7700X, MSI B650-P wifi mobo, and 32gb of DDR5 ram for 399. I got that and picked up an open box 6750 XT Red Devil card for 365. Picked up everything else for the build and came in just over 1k. Also got 2 copies of Starfield for the GPU/CPU purchase. 1k is totally doable for AM5 and is a really nice system.

All the older games I play run native 4k pretty much max settings like BF4. Would love to try BattleBit when I get a chance I feel like I could run it pretty well. I care more about gameplay than graphics but I want the best graphics the game has that I can run reasonably.

    As soon as Microcenter released the 5600X3D they raised prices on the cheaper 5000 series to up sell it. For example, they raised the 5600 non X from $119 to $158. They also removed the retail version with cooler and replaced it with an OEM version with no cooler on the 5600X3D release day. Nice people, they made the exclusive a negative. Never fan boy for a company.

    • @benedictjajo
      @benedictjajo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bruh 5600x3d is faster than 5600x and on par with the more expensive 7600x. Idk why you're complaining that much about stock cooler. And it's meant as an upgrade for whomever is still using old am4 CPU, so most people who buy the 5600x3d will already have the old cooler. It makes perfect sense. I don't see anything wrong with what they did with the product and i think you're just hating on the brand because you're a fan of the other brand and one of your fav youtuber didn't go with team blue in this video.

    • @bodasactra
      @bodasactra ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@benedictjajo Why would I pay $230 for a 5600X3D when my mid range GPU is maxed out by a $119 5600 non X? That's $110 more with little benefit to my build. That's a lot of wasted money to a value oriented PC builder. I would love to have a 5600X3D, its an amazing CPU only 10 minutes away but, I don't have a GPU powerful enough to benefit muchfrom it. I needed a budget 5000 series upgrade not one of the fastest CPUs on the market.
      They removed the $119 5600 retail version that came with a fan and replaced it with the same exact CPU, a 5600, only now its $158 and no fan. Its not worth buying the costly OEM version for me so what other options make sense for the prices? You would think a less expensive 5700X, 5800X, or even go all out on a 5800X3D for a bit more but, the day the 5600X3D released they raised prices on all those as well. It was clearly manipulation designed to funnel an up sell to the 5600X3D or 5800X3D in terms of value for money.
      All the Ryzen CPUs are amazing products, I have been on AM4 for 5 years and all AMD for 20 years, it cost less. That's why I was looking to upgrade my AM4 build that day. I love the products. Its the shady sales tactics of Microcenter I have an issue with.
      I could get another 3-5 years for only $119 giving me a decade on the same platform for a total cost just over $800. That's f*cking amazing value and its why I think the AM4 is the best value platform up to this point in DIY PC tech history hands down. Imagine my surprise when i get to the store and the item I wanted went up $40 in a day and no longer comes with a free cooler. Get it now?

    • @bodasactra
      @bodasactra ปีที่แล้ว

      @unholydonuts If you are in a store and there are two of the same exact product are you going to buy the one that cost $50 more and comes with less accessories? I think you just might just to keep up the troll. Do you work for Microcenter?

    Lian Li 216 black case $140
    Total $1540 (to $1640)
    USD approx $1100 (to +$60ish)
    Best estimates based upon current local pricing. Can save more money on SSD, Memory, and case as well.
    Same or better performance, better upgrade path

    2TB gen4 SSD
    His bill does not show the 1TB gen3 SSD (+$149.99?? )

    That build is super CLEAN! And as far as being worried that it's not on the current platform, tell your friend not to worry. AM4 still has a LOT of life left in it. And the GPU is also totally fine even for being 2.5 years old. I'm on a 2080 super and even at 1440p it's still doing an amazing job with the games i like to play. My only suggestion for your friend with that PC would be to undervolt the gpu. I did a quick undervolt on my 2080S and lowered power draw by around 60-70 watts while still getting the same performance and in some cases even improved performance.

    I find it funny that on the performance showoff, despite having picked a team green GPU "because raytracing", no raytracing was shown... Feel like that's a little silly.
    That said, good video. Happy to see you back. :D

    I built an AM5 ($1200) system (7900)and an AM4 ($450) system (5500) at around same time. I feel the AM4 system was a lot more stable/optimized with Windows 11. The AM5 system was working great but at certain times it felt a little glitchy.

    I miss building PC's. I build close to 100 of them while at Fry's. Not so many in the later months I was there (2018-2020) since Fry's had nothing to sell...

    Kyle, I'm glad to have you back making content for the channel. But I have to comment on the $150 spent for a 1TB NVMe drive when companies like Samsung and Western Digital are practically giving away their 1TB drives for under $100.

      I'm not even sure what's going on here? The SSD Kyle selected is now to be had for 40$ at Microcenter. The 2TB Version for 70$. Is it possible that they had absolutely no discount or rebate going on at the time of filming and sold these for MSRP from 2 years ago? And why would you choose this one when other reputable brands sell their 1TB Model for 100$ or less?
      Or does the sticker only state the MSRP and rebates and discount are subtracted on checkout?
      EDIT: Seems like Rebates are applied on checkout since the mainboard and memory at 6:42 are less than their stickers say. But the SSD is missing in that 1038.62$ total for the system^^

    • @White_Hawk
      @White_Hawk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tho_Me SSD is in the total, just not shown on screen. Adding up the items on screen only gets you to about $854.

    • @Tho_Me
      @Tho_Me ปีที่แล้ว

      @@White_Hawk Items on screen add up to 963.92$. Add 7.75% California sales tax to that and you get a total of 1038.62$

    I had picked up a Zotac 3060 Ti on Amazon about 3 months ago and then about a week later MSI launched the 4060 Ti Ventus 2X Black 8GB OC for the exact same price. It depends on the 40-series card you are looking at when determining if they are overpriced.

    • @kennethd4958
      @kennethd4958 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      4060ti are going to be $399 or more.. you can get a 3060ti for around $300... if you paid $399 for a 3060ti you either overpaid or bought it right before the 4060ti launch... there are not going to be many 3060ti's at $399 anymore.

    • @nomisukeindustries
      @nomisukeindustries ปีที่แล้ว

      On June 20th, 2023 the RTX 4060 Ti Ventus 2X Black 8G OC and the ZOTAC RTX 3060 Ti Twin Edge OC LHR 8GB GDDR6 were exactly the same price. I know because I returned the Zotac and bought the MSI and there was no refund and no payment due. Whether those prices have changed since then, it was not the case at the time. I was simply illustrating that the 40-series cards aren't always overpriced. Also, I was wrong about the timeframe in my previous comment. It was June 7th and June 20th.

    • @kennethd4958
      @kennethd4958 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nomisukeindustries Oh dang. I see what you were saying... yeah thats crap that it takes a little for prices to adjust and you could end up paying the same for an older card.. though with the memory bus size of the 4060ti it might be a better idea to grab the 3060ti lol. Buyt I do stand by my meaning that if you're that close to a new GPU launch you should probably wait a month or two before pulling the trigger on a new GPU.. the prices were the same when you bought them but had you waited a couple weeks that 3060ti would have went down by $50 or more... thats more what I was getting at.
