      Thank you 💛 I went through many periods of numbness. Sadly it's quite normal reaction to abnormal events like trauma and abuse. these are periods, it's not how it will stay forever. I hope you have some professional help to learn some tools and practices that can help you with this

    That's exactly what's been happening to be lately. I had started to finally feel everything again. The positive and the negative but at some point the negative got too overwhelming. Anger, shame, sadness. And I had a stressful month, so I felt like the only way to deal with life was numbing. But it made it worse, cause now I feel nothing and I don't feel any of that purpose which I felt some weeks ago. I feel lifeless.
    I'll try to be a distant observer of what I do again as well.
    Thank you for your content!

      I can so relate to that lifeless feeing. I kept reminding myself that this is just a phase... my brain has tremendous capacity to change...

    I did a 2 column table: Reasons to like me and reasons to not like me. Ever time the Critic would get started, I'd look at the table. Since there were about equal numbers of both, but the not like ones were a lot lamer, it helped a lot.
    I keep a journal. That hleps to get the feelings nailed down. I don't remember feelings. I can only remember descriptions of feelings.
    As an exercise, I made a list of 20 songs that make me cry, or did do so at least twice.

    If I could feel this would make me cry. It resonates SO MUCH. I feel nothing! I have no desires, no energy, no memory… I feel like I don’t know who I am sometimes. Since the trauma I can’t remember anything. I used to be so smart and lively. This makes me feel unworthy of life. It feels like I dont care about anyone or anything anymore.
    Is the memoryloss part of it? I literally don’t even remember an hoir ago well

    • @TanjaWindegger
      @TanjaWindegger  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this is very common for trauma survivors, including the memory loss (but still good to see a doctor to make sure it's trauma related and not something else)
      even though I had a lot of head injuries (concussions), for me the memory issues have resolved over time as I healed and learnt to manage my emotions/nervous system...

    Things changed overnight with me. It wasnt the best home but i was loved and happy. At 11 i was pulled away from my family and went to a very horrible place. And at the time the best thing i could do was not feel anthing. Im 21 now. In a better place and surrounded with people who love me. I can distract myself from thinking. Often when i do think i go numb. When it happens and i snap back its so scary to the point where i dont know what to do. I hope i can be at a point where be at a point where i can not be afraid of being alone and think

      so glad you are now in a safe place surrounded with people who love you. in a nurturing environment is much better for healing. I met many people (including myself) who completely changed the way they see themselves, how they can function in stressful situations and manage their anxiety or any difficult emotion... it's possible for you too. I believe in you
      (back in early 2000s when I was diagnosed I was afraid of being alone too, my mind used to go crazy busy.... even if I sat at a beautiful beach watching a sunset... my mind would wander to dark places.... these days I get to enjoy being alone, I no longer have flashbacks etc... things get better

      yes, feelings do come back. feeling numb at times is understandable given that our brain or amygdala is hyperactive constantly on the lookout for danger,... so it needs a little break at times... it's about accepting ourselves while we are numb, being kind and patient with ourselves and learning to be ok with internal sensations little by little...

    Hey, pardon my English I’m not really good at speaking English. I’m 15 and I don’t know if it’s numbness but I too can’t feel anything, for example I can love people but I can’t feel happiness, I can’t feel humour, or I can’t feel good moments, and all I can do is force a smile and I’m only 15 I’m not really good at this😭 and the people I’m around have to force the smile back, I’ve been numb from the start of 2020 and now I’m scared to meet people because I’m just so tired of faking the smiles😔I’m having so much trouble with feeling emotions I really want to heal and start being happy like I used to, I don’t understand what has caused me this but I’ve been dating someone and the only time I was hurt was by him always, and also my parents have kept me isolated for a long time, I saw my friends going out but I couldn’t join them, also my parents didn’t support my relationship with my bf and I’ve been in so much pressure but I still didn’t leave his side and maybe he was toxic but he accepted his mistake and apologised and now he’s changed so much but I’ve become so numb that I can’t feel happiness anymore, all I can feel is anger and pain, please tell me can I really heal? Can I be like the old me? And can my relationship be the cause of it? I want to be with him now cause he’s changed but sometimes I get flashbacks of the past pain I’ve felt and I start overthinking and I cry😭 I’d really appreciate it if you reply❤️

    Hi Tanja, thank you for your videos. I have a question it is off topic of this video. Have you heard of Alexithymia? Alexithymia, is a personality construct characterized by the subclinical inability to identify and describe emotions in the self. The core characteristics of alexithymia are marked dysfunction in emotional awareness, social attachment, and interpersonal relating. I can't find much on it, just wondering if you know anything about this.

    • @TanjaWindegger
      @TanjaWindegger  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      this is quite common for people with complex PTSD. It took me many years before I could name the emotions that came up for me... differentiate them... if that makes sense. I had a lot of professional help there. mostly I read a lot of books and articles to see how people describe emotions and where in the body they feel them... so I kind of learnt on an intellectual level first and then tried to identify them within myself :) hope that helps

    Is it a sign I might have CPTSD if I relate to most of these cptsd videos, and actually find it helpful to my problems? The thing is I don't feel like there was anything in my life that would be significant enough to cause cptsd. But when I was younger I had very intense feelings I could not handle to the point I turned it off. Maybe I just have some habits similar to someone with cptsd?

A little bit later I lost other emotions like Anger, sadness, happiness I just feel like empty place inside, just like I dont have a soul. But nevertheless I cant remember my moments of my life: Well I mean that when I try to remember my moments just spliting or interrupting, so thats why I feel so empty inside. My main questions are two: What should I do,?I tried to write but ahh it is so difficult, to explain something that I dont know. And secound: Will my love and feelings for my girlfriend come back?
