I have this machine and am, still learning how to use it effectively. Your presentation has shown me how to better use my machine and appreciate some features I did not know. I feel like a pro. I am from Boston, USA.
I've heard you can sharpen ceramic knives on the T1. Is it true, and is there anything special I need to know for this? I've just bought two T1's but I haven't been able to try them yet as I live in Switzerland and had to have them sent to a friend in France as you can't sell them in Switzerland...
It sure will! in this video at 25:10 we show how you do a cleaver. I'd recommend watching this video in its entirety and i think you will have any questions answered :) Stay sharp! /Hugo from Tormek
It is not recommended, and there is no great method for it. You can hone the "valleys" of the serrations on the edge of the honing wheel, but that'll be a half measure. Personally i have stopped using serrated bread knives, since i got a Tormek T-1 in my kitchen my normal kitchen knives slice bread better and with less crumbs than a serrated knife ever could 😎 Stay sharp! /Hugo from Tormek
That depends on the measurements. The patented guide can handle knives with blades 12-60 millimeters (0.5-2.4 inches) high and up to 5 millimeters (0.2 inches) thick, with unlimited length.
Hej Pat, the Tormek T-1 Kitchen Knife Sharpener is not available in Canda yet. But we will inform our followers via Social Media and the Newsletter when we open new markets! Stay sharp!
Yep, that's correct! Check out tormek.com if you'd like more info on the conical honing wheel: tormek.com/en/products/culinary/culinary-accessories/pw-160-conical-composite-honing-wheel
I have watched several TH-cam videos. Dialect of instructors is not clear enough for me to completely understand them. Is there video with North American sound? Also their sound fades in and out. Need more accurate editing.
Won't ship to Australia, and is US$357 anyway, whish is stupidly overpriced for a machine aimed at the home cook. Tormek missed an opportunity to seize the market for home cook sharpening. If this had been more reasonably priced, it would have out-sold everything else. As it stands, who is paying close to the price of a versatile T4 for what is basically a one trick pony?

I am looking for a sharpener for whittling knives which one should I get ?
Hej Kianquenseda, you would need a T-4 or T-8. The T-1 or T-2 is just for kitchenknives.
What is the smallest knife that it can be used on, I have a set of 9 Global knives including a meat clever will this accommodate all sizes ?
It sure will! in this video at 25:10 we show how you do a cleaver. I'd recommend watching this video in its entirety and i think you will have any questions answered :)
