      definitely the worst part of the industry are the fans, giving all of us a bad rep. Not to generalize, but it feels like the korean fans are particularly awful to the idols, and its extra visible to the idols because its their native language.
      At the end of the day, we fans should be more casual, and care only about the music, not the person. That's kinda the attitude we have with western artists(less so these days)

    It’s because they don’t feel safe. Misogyny is so rampant in the industry and country. Female idols get exploited constantly and they know that staying away from men is the best way to stay safe. The problem with a lot of male idols is the fact that they have so many adoring female fans cheering them on and it gets to their head. Eventually they feel like they can have any girl they want and that develops into them believing they are entitled to any girl they want, which is when they can get more predatory. Again this obviously isn’t all male idols, but it’s enough for it to be a serious problem. Please just remember that you never know what an idol is truly like behind closed doors.

    • @it.comes.around
      @it.comes.around 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +10

      exactly. the biggest problem is that the people commenting on all this are usually two different groups, with some overlap. irene and all of red velvet got hate from men whenever feminism was brought up, because red velvet have a big male fandom, especially irene herself. compare most of her criticisms to the support seulgi gets for something like having a no make up look or being friends with a male idol like got7’s bambam, when she has a larger female fanbase. or look at how a lot of female groups with receive criticism from fans of other female groups because the lifespan of girl groups is so dependent on appeal to the general public, resulting in massive amounts of girl on girl hate. the problems are not solely with a double standard, although one exists in the society itself, but the real issue involves girl groups being marketed for the general public vs boy groups being marketed towards a fanbase. a fanbase is solid and will defend an artist against criticism and general public gives and takes it’s favor day to day. and when a group is marketed to the general public, mainly s. korea, they are going to face the dark side of their societies double standard towards women, from behavior to appearance.
      to change this, girl groups need a fandom, and a strong one at that, which will stop a company from forcing an idol to change to please the public, as they will no longer need the gp for financial support, and to reshape what is acceptable to comment about female idols. as much as boy group stans can be annoying, you have to admit that those with a strong fandom, or a bigger international fandom, are always the ones being used in these comparisons videos and showing that criticism of them is often drowned out by praise. a good example of how this works would be hwasa. she got official complaints launched about her choreography at one of the university festivals, a society issue, but she also got massive support because her fanbase was built on people who want to support hwasa, not just riding on the success of a single mass appeal comeback. strong fanbases for women, usually by women, is a far more effective solution than constantly complaining about the double standard. take the power away from those 40 yo men to dictate what women can or can’t speak about and give it to the people who will actually support the artist.

    A girl on tiktok said that biy groups are nolonger lucrative in SK and boy groups are no longer put together as much as it was because investors are afraid the boys might later be involved in sexual scandals. And since its a very patriarchal society so. It really gets you thinking.

    • @CottidaeSEA
      @CottidaeSEA 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +6

      That also has to do with a lot of trends. Teenage girls used to be all over boy groups, they no longer are. I'd say boy groups were having a downward trend before most of these scandals even happened. While they were still popular, they had reached a plateau and with a group like BTS becoming less active, that had a massive impact on boy groups overall.
      There's also the feminist movement which disproportionately favor women, largely because it's primarily composed of women. That in turn causes an upward trend for girl groups and particularly those who are perceived to promote such ideas.
      So the scandals are honestly pretty minor in terms of the popularity loss. I also want to point out that investors only care about their money and there were scandals before which did not even make them budge. I think this has more to do with how lucrative the industry is as a whole, or lack thereof. They don't get a return on their investments and that's why they don't invest as much. Similar trends can be seen in other industries such as the game industry and IT as a whole.

    And one of the normal members (Sungmin), got unofficially kicked out of the group by them for getting married. They claim he didn't tell them properly, like he owed them that? That was TEN YEARS AGO.
    Somehow those fans cannot grow up and mature, and still have the same maturity level as when Super Junior first debuted nearly 20 years ago.

    Can we talk about how some male fans of girl groups are extremely misogynistic towards other groups? For them, stanning a girl group makes them feminist, while they insult and body-shame other girl groups. Such behavior has become all too common among K-pop fans. We need to learn to respect all girl groups. Additionally, there are many group chats being exposed where fans make rape jokes about male and female idols from other groups. I’ve seen one involving BTS members and ITZY. In those chats, the male fans are from fandoms like BLACKPINK and aespa. Instead of calling them out, the female counterparts in their fandom are often supporting them with likes and retweets. It's so pathetic.
    They also make misogynistic jokes about boy group stans who mainly consist of females

I’ve talked about this time and time with people still trying to argue with me like I’m wrong and their favorite line is “he also got hate for that too” …clearly not as much as the female idol did these people will go to the end of the world to make it seem like these female idols that do mature concepts and spice things up instead of being boring are sl!Ts cause if these female idols were to act cute at their grown age like yall have before yall would call them cringy good ex. Jessi and hwasa and unfortunately saying her hyuna (her relationship is a different story) and the black pink girls but more so Lisa especially after crazy horse people were ready with the videos and the comments calling her everything and that didn’t faze her once she still posted her pictures and still had support and her haters were still watching her angry …like these female idols can’t get a break and I don’t see male idols getting as much hate as them period not saying they don’t but it don’t be as bad as the female idols I rarely see 🤢🤢🤢 under male idols instagrams but I bet you I can see that under a lot of female idols instagrams like these girls get hated on for anything and everything .

The guy gave his business card of his bar to (at the time a minor) Hara and Yesung was trying to avoid it. Then when he left Yesung asked Hara to show him the business card and he tear it apart. Sometime later, I think that same year, the guy was found guilty for SA many minors. So, these guys do their nasty thing just even in there's cameras. They don't give a F.

    i don’t think it’s really fair to act like male idols don’t get hate. i understand the video is about women idols, and yes there ARE times when there’s double standards but making it seem like male idols don’t get into trouble for smoking or anything like that is crazy. didn’t seunghan from riize basically get kicked out for it? and for having a gf predebut?? i feel like there’s a way to talk about the situation without making it seem like male idols don’t have any issues

      they always get backlash for trying to be normal, because they break the illusion that many fans have about them being only for the fans. the industry needs to change with respects to dating too, make people fans of the artist and not the illusion of being the perfect boyfriend or girlfriend or pretty face.

    I think the video title is a little bit misleading "Why Female Idols HATE Male K-Pop Idols".. Yes there are a lot of/ big problems with male idols ( and entertainment figures) with power against female idols as the video mention (good content btw), but not all female idols hate male idols.. there are lots of friendships between them as well

  • @gaixue94
    @gaixue94 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

    We also need to take into account these male idols are MEN FROM KOREA before idols. The patriarchal and sexist upbringing and surroundings have and effect on their behavior, its logical (which doesn't justify it, it only explains it). So don't think your faves are all angels and start thinking what video/meme/funny moment you've seen is actually a little bit weird. You'll see there are plenty.

    The industry is rotten anywhere in the world, because it involves money and power. And having power gives you the feeling that you can do anything without consequences... Until karma kicks in. In the case of Korea, the red flags started to appear because the TV programs themselves always asked strange questions that you don't see everywhere, for example, diets and weight issues. Survivor shows pushed trainees beyond their limits, which seemed absurd. The age and training time for the debut and whether you would be chosen too. In short, a lot was coming to light. After actress Ja-Yeon Jang's letter naming ALL THE ABUSERS in all spheres of the industry and almost nothing happening, it shows me that no woman there is safe. I always fear for girls and women around the world. The patriarchy treats us like products on a shelf, you pick them up, use them and throw them away. It's sick.

    I genuinely feel this isn’t about double standards but all the examples of fandoms talked about in this video are totally different. While many armys are okay with Namjoon and Jk’s actions, they would react the same for other idols too. But this is a whole set of different people who are reacting bad to every small thing and dragging idols down.
