    It’s because they don’t feel safe. Misogyny is so rampant in the industry and country. Female idols get exploited constantly and they know that staying away from men is the best way to stay safe. The problem with a lot of male idols is the fact that they have so many adoring female fans cheering them on and it gets to their head. Eventually they feel like they can have any girl they want and that develops into them believing they are entitled to any girl they want, which is when they can get more predatory. Again this obviously isn’t all male idols, but it’s enough for it to be a serious problem. Please just remember that you never know what an idol is truly like behind closed doors.

      Same here. Haven't been in the kpop sphere for months now, maybe even over a year or two. I feel like, musically, kpop songs have just been losing all their "kpop" aspect. Most new groups are releasing the same, generic, mainstream elevator music that gets them numbers on tiktok so it's gotten difficult to even get hooked on the music. Sampled songs, same beats, same sounds, it's just getting repetitive. I've honestly only kept up with a few groups (Stray kids, Ateez, Dreamcatcher and a few more...).
      On top of that, toxicity has only been increasing. Knowing how bad misogyny is in korea, it's honestly difficult to assume that male idols are "different from the rest". I became a kpop fan in 2017, loved second gen and first gen groups. It's true that some of them are genuinely good people, but we, as people only watching them from our screens, have no idea who the bad apples really are. Some of them do tell on themselves though. But overtime, the negativity just becomes too much to deal with. So many idols outted for their crimes (as they should be) or kicked out because fans discovered that, shockingly, idols are normal people too!!! True justice is never served for anyone and it's what annoys me the most. I mean, Super Junior has always been a problematic group, yet they never got all that much backlash?? Same goes for so many male idols/groups, it's just infuriating every time. Women get screwed over so much in the industry, and all we can do is watch as their companies do nothing to protect them.

      @it.comes.around 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +31

      exactly. the biggest problem is that the people commenting on all this are usually two different groups, with some overlap. irene and all of red velvet got hate from men whenever feminism was brought up, because red velvet have a big male fandom, especially irene herself. compare most of her criticisms to the support seulgi gets for something like having a no make up look or being friends with a male idol like got7’s bambam, when she has a larger female fanbase. or look at how a lot of female groups with receive criticism from fans of other female groups because the lifespan of girl groups is so dependent on appeal to the general public, resulting in massive amounts of girl on girl hate. the problems are not solely with a double standard, although one exists in the society itself, but the real issue involves girl groups being marketed for the general public vs boy groups being marketed towards a fanbase. a fanbase is solid and will defend an artist against criticism and general public gives and takes it’s favor day to day. and when a group is marketed to the general public, mainly s. korea, they are going to face the dark side of their societies double standard towards women, from behavior to appearance.
      to change this, girl groups need a fandom, and a strong one at that, which will stop a company from forcing an idol to change to please the public, as they will no longer need the gp for financial support, and to reshape what is acceptable to comment about female idols. as much as boy group stans can be annoying, you have to admit that those with a strong fandom, or a bigger international fandom, are always the ones being used in these comparisons videos and showing that criticism of them is often drowned out by praise. a good example of how this works would be hwasa. she got official complaints launched about her choreography at one of the university festivals, a society issue, but she also got massive support because her fanbase was built on people who want to support hwasa, not just riding on the success of a single mass appeal comeback. strong fanbases for women, usually by women, is a far more effective solution than constantly complaining about the double standard. take the power away from those 40 yo men to dictate what women can or can’t speak about and give it to the people who will actually support the artist.

    • @jonix24mejor
      @jonix24mejor 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      actually most of these "double standards" are caused because of different groups of fans, female idols have both male and female idols, where some female fans can get really judgemental, and some male fans can get really creepy, on the other hand, most male groups have mostly female fangirls, that would usually justify absolutely everything they do, this video is honestly taking some facts out of context to fit a narrative, not to say that is easy to be a woman in te industry, or negate that most fans have very idiotic opinions and standards, but this video clearly omitting certain relevant facts that help to understand part of the problems with the korean idol culture, and its in favor of giving a message with a biased narrative.
      without the intent to criticize, rather to give an example, NJ is a group that has achieved a more loyal fan base than other GGs, receiving a lot of justification from their fans in every controversy that has come out, far from being as attacked as other groups, in fact, I personally have not seen a single complaint about the weight of the members, not to say that any of them have gained weight or are overweight, but if people were as critical as the video presents, at least one would have been attacked for looking less skinny than expected.
      On the other hand, the video takes BTS as an example of male idols who are forgiven for everything, they being possibly the most famous, recognized and loved kpop group by their fans, that is too convenient for the narrative of the video, besides, now with the recent Suga controversy, he has been judged no less harshly than any female counterparts in these cases, of course, maybe his fans are defending him more than others, but he has received his fair share of criticism despite being a man.

    • @CottidaeSEA
      @CottidaeSEA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      That also has to do with a lot of trends. Teenage girls used to be all over boy groups, they no longer are. I'd say boy groups were having a downward trend before most of these scandals even happened. While they were still popular, they had reached a plateau and with a group like BTS becoming less active, that had a massive impact on boy groups overall.
      There's also the feminist movement which disproportionately favor women, largely because it's primarily composed of women. That in turn causes an upward trend for girl groups and particularly those who are perceived to promote such ideas.
      So the scandals are honestly pretty minor in terms of the popularity loss. I also want to point out that investors only care about their money and there were scandals before which did not even make them budge. I think this has more to do with how lucrative the industry is as a whole, or lack thereof. They don't get a return on their investments and that's why they don't invest as much. Similar trends can be seen in other industries such as the game industry and IT as a whole.

    Can we talk about how some male fans of girl groups are extremely misogynistic towards other groups? For them, stanning a girl group makes them feminist, while they insult and body-shame other girl groups. Such behavior has become all too common among K-pop fans. We need to learn to respect all girl groups. Additionally, there are many group chats being exposed where fans make rape jokes about male and female idols from other groups. I’ve seen one involving BTS members and ITZY. In those chats, the male fans are from fandoms like BLACKPINK and aespa. Instead of calling them out, the female counterparts in their fandom are often supporting them with likes and retweets. It's so pathetic.

I’ve talked about this time and time with people still trying to argue with me like I’m wrong and their favorite line is “he also got hate for that too” …clearly not as much as the female idol did these people will go to the end of the world to make it seem like these female idols that do mature concepts and spice things up instead of being boring are sl!Ts cause if these female idols were to act cute at their grown age like yall have before yall would call them cringy good ex. Lisa whenever she acts cute she’s cringey whenever she acts her age or does mature concepts or mature and spicy things she’s a Sl!T like make up your minds these people don’t know how they want these girls to act and that’s exactly why you see more and more kpop idols don’t gaf about how you guys feel anymore and are doing them good ex. Jessi and hwasa and unfortunately saying her hyuna (her relationship is a different story) and the black pink girls but more so Lisa especially after crazy horse people were ready with the videos and the comments calling her everything and that didn’t faze her once she still posted her pictures and still had support and her haters were still watching her angry …like these female idols can’t get a break and I don’t see male idols getting as much hate as them period not saying they don’t but it don’t be as bad as the female idols I rarely see 🤢🤢🤢 under male idols instagrams but I bet you I can see that under a lot of female idols instagrams like these girls get hated on for anything and everything .

Most males if not all of them can't control their male instinct, once they see a beautiful naked woman they can't see her as a soul, a personality... All they see is a body and how to get their hands on it. That's why women should give more credit to themselves and follow the guidance of ALLAH (God) our creator, whose commands are to protect her and make her very valuable.

The only exception is when the male idol gains more muscles and therefore has a broader look which is always praised.
    In conclusion: yes female idols are often faster judged for their Figur and appearance, but this is often also the result of wearing more revealing clothes on stage (which of course isn’t the idols fault). Male idols are also judged for their figures but can hide it better with longer stage outfits and broad appearance that often symbolizes muscles rather than fat.

    This is diabolical and outrageous. I feel bad for women especially for the weight gain - remember when Jeongyeon started to gain weight? the backlash from that was crazy.
