  • The link below is where I purchased the repair kit that I used in this video. You will also need to purchase about 2 gallons of antifreeze.

A symptom of this issue is you will find oil in your coolant reservoir. How to replace both oil cooler gaskets (oil cooler to oil filter housing gasket. And oil filter housing to engine block gasket). These 2 gaskets should be replaced at the same time. When either one of the gaskets goes bad then you will have an oil leak on the front of your engine. You could also have an oil leak into your coolant system. More likely than not you will experience both leaks at the same time when the gaskets go bad.

12nm on oil radiator, I usually do 10 and never had any failure. 10 to 12 isn't much. Over this you take a huge risk to break those screws. I always replace them screws by Inox A2 6x16 torx as well, same head. I also like cleaning the whole part with brake cleaner or gasoline to make the repair clean and sound! Did this again a week ago on a M273, pretty straightforward.

Good video. I have a 2011 E350 3.5l w212 that is starting to show some wetness under the thermostat housing and oil cooler. Just a small amount.
At 124k, its time to change the thermostat and the oil cooler and gaskets.
Thsi video helps guide the way wven though engines are different.

Hi great video, nice that there's no annoying music. Did you consider removing the electric fan first?

I did not. Removing the radiator cooling fan was not necessary. Although; it possibly would have saved time overall because of the extra room it would have provided.

I would like to know how to flush out the oil in the system. Did you do that or not?

I did not have to remove any oil out of the coolant system. The oil accumulates in the coolant reservoir. You have to remove the reservoir without draining the coolant. That way the oil will remain in the reservoir as you are removing it..... DO NOT drain the coolant first because it will cause the oil within the reservoir to lower down into the coolant hoses and potentially into the radiator.
