Nice video! Just installed that 3 gear adapter as well. Thanks for sharing how you solved the battery mounting. I ended up molding a front battery tray that allows me to keep the interior.

I added the Enduro teams to a set of Capra axles on a G-Speed chassis. I had the same issue with lack of wheel speed so to all the reduction. I went 4s w/ a Hobbywing 880 esc. Made a huge difference.

Ain't buying no more Axial trucks since they released the 10-3. I don't support companies that try to sell flash and extra gizmos over actual performance.
They had the top truck hands down. But now, gotta give it to my Ecto.

I love the hobby, and I love crawlers/ trail riders. I'm aware that to each their own, it's a personal choice and all that jazz. If I sound upset it's because I ordered this model in kit form, and...I don't know. It just makes me feel as if I wasted my money! I could have bought a roller from eBay but they're more expensive if not the same price as a kit. Such expensive things only for someone to just tear them apart to turn them into Frankenstein.
No offense to you sir. I love your videos and content, but I guess it's just the way I think.

That’s cool, I can really see how this could be useful. I guess I need to do a video on how I got my 10.3 to not click a single click. It is nice not hearing it. I have another 10.3 that I didn’t build that clicks and I need to fix so maybe with that one. With this Bowhouse it did drop some weight and lowered the CG a little

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yeah I’ll mess with the spur gear and a faster motor. I do want a bit more speed because now that it runs so much better I’ll use it more need a bit of wheel speed from time to time. With all the gearing I could possibly get by just fine with a 12t Trailmaster and not have any issues.

@@ExocagedRC I too have been debating on a rock racer as my next build. I am looking at going with a 4S LiPo setup, so Castle seems to be the best option I know that has a crawler type ESC. My brother runs a Castle Mamba X crawler ESC with their 3800kv slate motor in his Axial SCX10III. It doesn't seem to be all that loud, but even on 3S, it is very fast. I couldn't imagine it on 4S. But comparing it to my AXE 550 3300kv system, mine has much control than his at low speeds, but I can't keep up with Castle's high RPM speeds their motors produce. I think if he geared down and did some more fine tuning with Castle's ESC, it could perform much better.

I electronically as well as mechanically disabled the DIG on my Capra because my WiFi headphones occasionally/erroneously activated the DIG and then would require disconnecting/reconnecting the battery to disengage it. I LOVE my Axial Bomber and LOVE my Capra as well now that the accursed DIG is disconnected. If Axial had left the superfluous gimmickry of the DIG and the available second gear out of the SCX10-III (and had the purchase price reflect it) my Traxxas TRX-4 Sport would NOT be my only scale 'overlander' in my RC collection. I laud Axial's devotion to highly detailed 'scale' RCs but wish they'd reserve the BS sales gimmicks to those who value such gimmicks. Maybe the SCX10-III's transmission wouldn't be a clicking, mechanical cacophony if they had just 'K I S S'.

Now you have basically bought and adapted pretty much what I would call a really up to date "SCX10".... with updated parts, and portal axles.
People don't realize how many times they are "taken for a ride" !!!! In regular life, of course as well !! SAD
Well, at least we can use the old tried & true components, like the 3-gear trans. !! 😁
    - I always wonder why most RC-ers do not buy the NEW Gmade GS02F components, which have an awesome (1st & 2nd gear-ratio), (overdrive in 1st), and a (1 to 1) in 2nd gear for fast-er trailing. ?????
It should bolt-up to the SCX10 OR SCX10 II Chassis set-up. The only function you would not have is DIG.
SPEKTRUM & HORIZON want AND expect buyers to be dependent on their creations and electronics, like the G1 SMART connectors, the fact that you can only use "their motor" & "their ESC" to have a working, (paired set-up) becomes mandatory, and I do not like being corralled !! Told what motor & esc I have to choose from !! So, if you like your RC FREEDOM, don't buy from a dictating hobby provider like Spektrum, or Horizon. DO YOU ALL SEE WHERE THIS TACTIC IS LEADING US !??
....YES, TO A BIG LOSS OF FREEDOM, AND OPTIONS AMONGST OUR CHOICES. (WHEN IT PERTAINS TO THE RC HOBBY) !!
    - SEE HOW IT STARTS.......!???🤔

We have castle, the aftermarket stepped up and got us the adaptor to fit the 3gear or Enduro trans in there. Vitavon made us the nice housings. We have our choice on bodies tires wheels etc so I don’t feel limited. The paired esc/motor thing isn’t all that bad as they are engineered to work together and they generally do work very well together. You can build a scaler anyway you want, it’s the most “free” style of RC out there.
