I take issue is that they lied about the state of Cyberpunk on consoles. "Surprisingly well" they said. That blunder honestly is the reason why they're on my hitlist. Though, CDPR's hit list is much shorter than many others. To date, Indie companies and laze faire companies like Valve have less issues because they haven't done anything malicious. Ubisoft would also be on that list if it... didn't. If it just fucking *didn't*.

I am a GameStop worker. 12+ years now. I had no issue working just so long as I was observing safety protocols: Face masks, washing hands, wearing gloves, etc. I never heard of the ridiculous stunt of a dancing contest for Black Friday hours, though. I usually just ask and they say okay. I am one of the few people who looks forward to working on Black Friday. Funny thing that happened in one of the leak things. Nintendo themselves accidentally leaked Kirby fighters 2 that would be coming to the nintendo switch. It happened during the celebration of mario's 35th anniversary, but instead of trying to delete the tweet before it could spread they just said screw it and just decided to release it right away and have their twitter focus on Kirby fighters 2.
Still bought it as I am a Kirby fan cause its a solid game overall it takes all from the original and builds it up without removing anything in the original. Also I hear namoura was so fumed about the leaks on a KH 3 trailer being released to early he fired the guy who put it out. Cause before then he had a misdistribution of copies of KH3 over someone willing to sell them for money for drugs. He even put a measure in that the secret ending was not in any physical copy cause he was on edge of this possibility to prevent spoilers to people who got there hands on one of these copies. In any case I will say the gaming industries up when they had them were outright popping off hard this year. As we got a lot of good things from it to so its not all bad.

One of the saddest parts of this year was the release of 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, which was almost completely ignored by Sony. . They barely sponsored or advertised the game when it released so it affected sales dramatically. Seriously, it was hardly noticed. It’s a shame too because this game is genuinely amazing. The story is interesting and told in a unique way, the art and music are beautiful, and the gameplay is diverse. The English dub was even done during the pandemic with the actors working from home to get it out and they did a FANTASTIC job. You can tell a lot of heart when into this game’s development. So it was great to see this game get enough attention to be nominated for Best Narrative this year. Shame it ALSO lost to Last of Us Part 2 like so many other great games did. Just please give 13 Sentinels some attention guys. I’m serious, this game DESERVES it.

I personally believe it went downhill when: A) They merged with Activision. Dumb idea. B) Had that half-bald mop-headed guy in the company. VERY dumb idea. C) Lootboxes. You know how we are all hyped for Diablo 4 especially once we saw the cinematic reveal trailer, and some gameplay showing off a couple classes that looked really cool yeah that hype meter quickly went from 99 to 0 in record when Blizzard announced a couple months later that Diablo 4 despite coming out for both PC and Console will be trapped behind the always online prison meaning yes you would have to be online to do the single-player campaign let's just say me and many Diablo fans were rightfully angry including having comments stating that Blizzard did not learn from Diablo 3's launch particularly in how locking the entire game including the single-player campaign behind the always online prison is a boneheaded move.
It's funny that alot of people jumped to say "Nintendo is the worst company" yet Nintendo's questionable decisions barely hold a candle to the other companies in the industry. 2020 had a lot of issues especially with the pandemic and deserves pretty much all of the snarky comments it gets. There were still some gem moments hiding in the rough though. We received many horrible fails but also received many successful gems like Animal Crossing New Horizons, Doom Eternal, Rune Factory 4 Archival Edition. Also some pretty nice movies and books. Not to mention the chance for a vaccination got introduced late last year so we may be able to see more people getting it, and things have improved in some countries. In no way does it make up for all the death and torture the people’s dealt with but at least things are looking a bit more hopeful these days and we had some good hope for this year.

Also, Naughty Dog winning Game of the Year just feels wrong on an intrinsically moral level. Some context behind the Squid House event: Numerous top teams entered the current NA Open at the time with names supporting melee. Because of this, Nintendo chose not to host a live stream of the top 8 due to these issues. So what teams did was drop out of the tournament, and basically give the tournament the middle finger. The top 4 teams from the Open were all invited into the Squid House that was made on a whim, and it raised over 25K, which all went to the winning team, FTWaveDash I've been in the comp Splatoon scene for a long time, so seeing this whole event go down was insane
Fostering mass gambling addiction often directed at minors who are more susceptible to it is pretty heinous. I'm not sure which one I would rate over the other honestly, but I do think there's a good case for either to be number 1.

I honestly think that the biggest fail in regards to video games this year has to be gamers acceptance of death threats and harassment towards creators and artists in this field. Whenever I would point out how horrible the threats towards Laura Bailey, Ben Jordan, or CD Projekt Red when they delayed the game, I was met with so many comments of “that’s just the way it is.” I hope harassment in general and the people that accept are on the list.
Um. No. Most people agree that the death threats are bad. And it's nothing new. Kojima got death threats because he didn't want to make MGS 4 back in the 2000s.

I say the same thing every time Stadia is mentioned. I have zero love for it because of how annoying their constant ads were. I'd be watching a video and suddenly it cut to harsh music and some ugly guy screaming at the top of his lungs. It was in the first 1-3 seconds so you couldn't just press the skip ad button. Who thought accosting people with some screaming guy would entice people to buy it? I'm so irritated with those stupid ads that I get a sick sense of satisfaction when I hear about how poorly it's doing.

Yeah, it had some pacing issues and such, it wasn't perfect, but it honestly succeeded on doing about everything it had to do to be a good game and build upon the spirit of the original game. You could be right under your own say, right under lawyers' says, but ultimately it's loving to: -keep people healthy, alive and safe -Allow freedom for others to STAY healthy, alive AND safe -be more honest and open with your audience when crap hits the fan -give generously to your communities instead of being in a one-track mind: in wealth and other aspects! -be aware of your team's necessary space (creatively, time-wise, health-wise and literal distance) to let them take a breather and be fully involved in the process without compromising said space -On top of that, ACTUALLY RESPECT YOUR TEAM'S SPACE. -take sacrifices to yourself to allow your teams to breathe easier. If it means more wealth for them and less for you, so be it. you can live with less! It's even been proven! For example, look up Dan Price, who did just this and not only benefitted his employees' lives, but also his own. -related to this, Greed isn't good. Why do you think it's one of the seven DEADLY SINS. RIGHT THERE IN THE NAME. I could go on and on, but TLDR: Be LOVING to others, not always RIGHT. Why do you think there's alignments like Neutral Good and Chaotic Good?
Ah man a "we didn't start the fire parody" I got to listen to two of those for 2020 lol The first one was from Diamond Axe Studios who focused solely on the entirety of what was going on in the world (and mentioned things like Zero) This one is focused solely on gaming and that's great too Also im still super pissed about Warcraft 3 reforged.... they ruined one of my first more "Teen" games back when I was younger! (10 year old me loved it so much)
The most painful part for me is that my boy Rayman; the very reason that I became a video game enthusiast, comes from Ubisoft :,-( Now, I have NEVER cared for any other projects from them (that aren't from Michel Ancel), but it pains me to know that even he might have been one of those abusers (despite how much I want to deny it). I still want to play Rayman games and not judge them, just because of the company that they came from. But... I'm also afraid of what might come or never happen with the series after Ancel's departure. My limbless hero deserves better than that company >:( P.S. A great video (as always), Josh. Shine on!

Funny thing that happened in one of the leak things. Nintendo themselves accidentally leaked Kirby fighters 2 that would be coming to the nintendo switch. It happened during the celebration of mario's 35th anniversary, but instead of trying to delete the tweet before it could spread they just said screw it and just decided to release it right away and have their twitter focus on Kirby fighters 2.
Still bought it as I am a Kirby fan cause its a solid game overall it takes all from the original and builds it up without removing anything in the original. Also I hear namoura was so fumed about the leaks on a KH 3 trailer being released to early he fired the guy who put it out. Cause before then he had a misdistribution of copies of KH3 over someone willing to sell them for money for drugs. He even put a measure in that the secret ending was not in any physical copy cause he was on edge of this possibility to prevent spoilers to people who got there hands on one of these copies.
In any case I will say the gaming industries up when they had them were outright popping off hard this year. As we got a lot of good things from it to so its not all bad.

One of the saddest parts of this year was the release of 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim, which was almost completely ignored by Sony. . They barely sponsored or advertised the game when it released so it affected sales dramatically. Seriously, it was hardly noticed.
It’s a shame too because this game is genuinely amazing. The story is interesting and told in a unique way, the art and music are beautiful, and the gameplay is diverse. The English dub was even done during the pandemic with the actors working from home to get it out and they did a FANTASTIC job. You can tell a lot of heart when into this game’s development.
So it was great to see this game get enough attention to be nominated for Best Narrative this year. Shame it ALSO lost to Last of Us Part 2 like so many other great games did.
Just please give 13 Sentinels some attention guys. I’m serious, this game DESERVES it.

I personally believe it went downhill when:
A) They merged with Activision. Dumb idea.
B) Had that half-bald mop-headed guy in the company. VERY dumb idea.
C) Lootboxes. God damn it.
and D) EVERYTHING RELATING TO HONG KONG. Enough to make me give up on playing ANY Blizzard games. And that's good. After no longer playing Overwatch, spending decisions improved.
And it just gets worse for Blizzard. You know how we are all hyped for Diablo 4 especially once we saw the cinematic reveal trailer, and some gameplay showing off a couple classes that looked really cool yeah that hype meter quickly went from 99 to 0 in record when Blizzard announced a couple months later that Diablo 4 despite coming out for both PC and Console will be trapped behind the always online prison meaning yes you would have to be online to do the single-player campaign let's just say me and many Diablo fans were rightfully angry including having comments stating that Blizzard did not learn from Diablo 3's launch particularly in how locking the entire game including the single-player campaign behind the always online prison is a boneheaded move.

2020 had a lot of issues especially with the pandemic and deserves pretty much all of the snarky comments it gets. There were still some gem moments hiding in the rough though. We received many horrible fails but also received many successful gems like Animal Crossing New Horizons, Doom Eternal, Rune Factory 4 Archival Edition. Also some pretty nice movies and books.
Not to mention the chance for a vaccination got introduced late last year so we may be able to see more people getting it, and things have improved in some countries.
In no way does it make up for all the death and torture the people’s dealt with but at least things are looking a bit more hopeful these days and we had some good hope for this year.

It hits hard for me, cause my favorite game of all time, my first ever game, the one that got me to be the gamer I am today, came from Ubisoft.
The Ubisoft entry really makes me sad. Just Dance basically was my childhood and I still play the old games to this day. I loved those games, but the company couldn't be as good as the games they made. Now when I see the logo it'll just make me sad instead of feeling happy nostalgia. Some context behind the Squid House event:
Numerous top teams entered the current NA Open at the time with names supporting melee. Because of this, Nintendo chose not to host a live stream of the top 8 due to these issues. So what teams did was drop out of the tournament, and basically give the tournament the middle finger. The top 4 teams from the Open were all invited into the Squid House that was made on a whim, and it raised over 25K, which all went to the winning team, FTWaveDash

I honestly think that the biggest fail in regards to video games this year has to be gamers acceptance of death threats and harassment towards creators and artists in this field. Whenever I would point out how horrible the threats towards Laura Bailey, Ben Jordan, or CD Projekt Red when they delayed the game, I was met with so many comments of “that’s just the way it is.” I hope harassment in general and the people that accept are on the list.
Um. No. Most people agree that the death threats are bad. And it's nothing new. Kojima got death threats because he didn't want to make MGS 4 back in the 2000s.

Death threats are nothing new and they're not even exclusive to the gaming industry, or any specific industry or group. Saying that they're a gaming fail specifically isn't accurate and only makes the problem look smaller than it actually is. And as sad as this might sound, there isn't really anything that can be done about it because society will always have its nuts.

Yes, they happen other places, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that we had three major incidents of this happening this year (probably more that we don’t hear of). I think me saying that the issue was the biggest fail of the year was a stretch, but I do think it was big enough to point out. I say the same thing every time Stadia is mentioned. I have zero love for it because of how annoying their constant ads were. I'd be watching a video and suddenly it cut to harsh music and some ugly guy screaming at the top of his lungs. It was in the first 1-3 seconds so you couldn't just press the skip ad button. Who thought accosting people with some screaming guy would entice people to buy it? Ever since a very young age, I became super picky about which games to buy, and throughout most of my ps4 time, it kept me from being disappointed with my purchase. But that perfection was ruined by Marvel's Avengers, and to me, as an MCU fan, it's a huge disappointment.

As for ff7r, I didn't play it, nor did I watch anyone play it, so I can't form an opinion on it.
Obviously there were quite a lot of great games in 2020. Unfortunately, Marvel's Avengers isn't one of them.

Omg, that bug with the pants and guns was kinda funny.
The lesson all these fails seem to point out is this: It is better to be loving than to be right. You could be right under your own say, right under lawyers' says, but ultimately it's loving to:
-keep people healthy, alive and safe
-Allow freedom for others to STAY healthy, alive AND safe
-be more honest and open with your audience when crap hits the fan
-give generously to your communities instead of being in a one-track mind: in wealth and other aspects!
-be aware of your team's necessary space (creatively, time-wise, health-wise and literal distance) to let them take a breather and be fully involved in the process without compromising said space
-On top of that, ACTUALLY RESPECT YOUR TEAM'S SPACE.
-take sacrifices to yourself to allow your teams to breathe easier. If it means more wealth for them and less for you, so be it. you can live with less! It's even been proven! For example, look up Dan Price, who did just this and not only benefitted his employees' lives, but also his own.
-related to this, Greed isn't good. Why do you think it's one of the seven DEADLY SINS. RIGHT THERE IN THE NAME.
I could go on and on, but TLDR: Be LOVING to others, not always RIGHT. Why do you think there's alignments like Neutral Good and Chaotic Good?
Something so obvious yet they miss the mark
Ah man a "we didn't start the fire parody" I got to listen to two of those for 2020 lol
The first one was from Diamond Axe Studios who focused solely on the entirety of what was going on in the world (and mentioned things like Zero)
This one is focused solely on gaming and that's great too
Also im still super pissed about Warcraft 3 reforged.... they ruined one of my first more "Teen" games back when I was younger! (10 year old me loved it so much)
Hope you got a spot open for Activision Blizzard for the 2021 fails (if you make one), cause one-upped on Ubisoft how to suck as a company.
The most painful part for me is that my boy Rayman; the very reason that I became a video game enthusiast, comes from Ubisoft :,-(
Now, I have NEVER cared for any other projects from them (that aren't from Michel Ancel), but it pains me to know that even he might have been one of those abusers (despite how much I want to deny it).
I still want to play Rayman games and not judge them, just because of the company that they came from. But... I'm also afraid of what might come or never happen with the series after Ancel's departure.
My limbless hero deserves better than that company >:(
