Super Mario World for the NES is a bootleg port of the video game of the same name by Hummer Team, a Taiwanese pirate game developer. It is their attempt at porting a game that was originally for the SNES and making it fit the technical constraints of the NES. The result is what can be expected from a bootleg video game. Levels from the original game are missing, the physics are messed up, and gameplay mechanics such as warps were not implemented. The result is a rather linear game that doesn't play like the original Super Mario World very much.
Darkman425 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/D... ) here tackles this rather well-known NES bootleg and beats it as fast as possible.

When you lack the extra 8 bits
And skill
And a chromosome.
@@mirabilisDown syndrome is caused by an extra chromosome, genius.
The task they should’ve used in the TAS were those extra 8 bits
When you lack to take a dump and forget to add the extra 8 bit cos you were trying to squeeze a log out
no lie, this is impressive and cursed at the same time
Thanks for watching my first published TAS. My only unforgivable complaint about this downport is the fact that the World 6 castle is prone to crashing the game when it feels like it.
You have 41 published TASes already?
@@mistymysticsailboat Dang it, I meant first published TAS of 2024. Eh, not gonna bother editing that.
Keep it up man, it was fun watching this.
And not the fact jumping is awful? I played this back in the day I have no clue how you had the patience for a TAS of this and are still sane human being
HeLlO aNd WeLcOmE tO tAsViDeOs!!!1
God, the music sounds like I'm listening to 2-3 different tracks at the same time.
My ears are bleeding it's so beautiful
Lots of NES games have fantastic music. With all the detail put into making the rest of this, you'd think it would not be one long headphone hazard
I'm pretty sure this hack's soundtrack could be improved a lot by people who know the 2A03 or even N163 to get a lot more interesting sounds
@@vinesthemonkey I don't understand any of that but I appreciate people who do
@@JosephShemelewski 2A03 = default NES soundchip. what you hear in this hack
N163: namco soundchip which adds 4 or more channels and custom wavetables. you can look up n163 music and it sounds much more 16-bit FM like
Those jump physics are absolute cancer.
Yeah, it looks really trash. 😂
I think it's a Chinese bootleg
nah, every physics are
@@SonofTiamat it is. the physics are still ass though, bootleg or not
The game runs like total garbage too. It gets noticeably slower if more than one object is moving at once.
Leaving the physics aside, I'm actually impressed at how much of the actual framework that makes super mario world actually, you know, super mario world is actually present and functional. I mean, I was not expecting functional ghost houses, saws on tracks, climbing walls or more than one actual unique boss.
hummer team may not have the best quality but damn you just have to admire their tenacity at making these games
It's amazing how much that jump arc is genuinely holding back the TAS, it's more or less mini-downtimes all over with Mario coming to a near halt during jumps
The frame lags hurt my eyes and soundtrack hurts my ears.
That said, this demake is probably closest to being the most faithful to the original I have seen.
24:07 Nice music transition.
I remember seeing this unlicensed game back in 2017!
Same, dude.
Had to do a double take when I saw the publication name lol
Well, we've finally seen the LEGITIMATE TAS of this bootleg.
22:38 YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND 😊
it’s finally been done
POV: you ask to your dad super Mario world but you get this bullshit
10:25 when you have Lemmy as a power-up... kinda op
I'm surprised I haven't seen a SMW NES TAS yet, but now one exists! Good job, Darkman425!
I can't believe this actually got TASed in full!
The physics alone are giving me an anxiety attack. The thought of actually playing this hurts my head.
There's both a game gear hack and a fan ROM who fix the physics
Interesting idea! I say we take it a step further and port Super Mario World to the Atari 2600!
This game honestly looks pretty impressive.
3:03 Mario emoting the Griddy on Reznor’s grave
5:32 Super Mario doing the Peelout?
My poor eyes and ears did nothing to deserve this!
It’s beautiful. the sprite mix and match, that crazy bus level music, just pure perfection. Grand dad would be proud
Saying Grand Dad just made my entire body hurt in a way it never has before.
You know for originally being a bootleg this is crazy impressive
I'm playing this right now ironically!! I seen the TAS and was like... Huh. I made it to level 4 castle. How far can you make it 😋
We make due with what we have :) thanks Darkman425
I thought I had subscribed to you decades ago. ive always been watching the sonic tas speedruns but then I realied watching this that, WOW I never subcribed...I'll fix that right away!
Thank you for the content over the years
0:00 KORONE MENTIONED
Honestly one of the most impressive bootlegs I've seen. Like, they actually *tried* with this.
game lags when jumpman jumps.
The star music is....an attempt.
Holy hell some of these arrangements in general.
For the record, the company that made these bootlegs was unable to import the cartridges to Taiwan, so they had somebody in Japan play the game from there - and to reduce costs, the musicians had to call the Japan contact to listen to the songs from the game via international phone call
@@csolisrJust have someone bring the cartridge personally with him or her on the flight.
@@AwesomeHairo Yeah that's part of the problem, they couldn't afford flying from Taiwan to Japan and back

Hola.
If you want to see a competent game that has ridable dinosaurs on the NES, try the latter Adventure Island games.
1:05 it’s trying it’s best and that’s what matters
Dear god, the lag on that second level... That's how we know we're in for a time.
This is kinda disturbing, not gonna lie. Yet I can't find it within myself to stop watching.
This is essentially someone remaking mario world from memory
The sound design reminds me of that Ducktales game...
I had to read that video title twice.
Not a bad looking little rom hack. But it definitely could've been optimized better!
Epico los sonidos xd
I love me a good demake
Define "good".
No way the nes version would play this bad if it did come out back in the day.
omw, Mario World on a NES, you've gotta be kidding me
I'll never understand why the bootleggers didn't just base this on the SMB3 engine
It's not?
It wasn't a big deal reverse engeneering the SMB3 engine at this time, that's why.
I wonder if anyone has hacked SMW proper to remake this bootleg
Why does small Mario look like Josef Fares...?
So... painful...
haunted-ass game
WHO ELSE CAME IN 2010
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should
or does it
I mean more power to ya
im sorry but what the hell were they thinking with the power star music 🤣
NES games don't have as much data as an SNES game, so compromises are made, such as playing the valley of bowser map theme for the star music.
That Starman theme sounds *nothing* like the original. 😂
Joshi??
Weird run 13:22
What did you do to that S? Their parents are out looking for them!
My fuckin ears man
This has MADE IN CHINA written all over it!
Is this an official game? I think not
Yup, it's a Taiwanese bootleg.
Who created this aberration of a game?
When the game audibly slows down with 4 or more sprites on the screen.
Nah brah
0:16 1:20
this game is like present day Russia
ambitious and cursed chinese ripoff, shaken not stirred
Wow... The music sounds worse than the original Super Mario, actually it sounds like it belongs on Atari 2600.
Bronze Star for effort
To this day am still amezed that such graphics are achievible on the nes since thr nes is only 8bits,at the other hand this game couldn’t run on a stock 8bit nes so it does need another 8bit chip in a form of a mapper in order to make it run, thus turning the nes into a FAKE 16bit system because it requires two 8bit chips to make it run,and let’s to be honest the graphics are stegering for an 8bit system, mani wish i had discovered this unofficial nes version back in 1995 because not only would,ve considered to be shockingly amezing but i would,ve consider it as a great alternative since i didn’t had a snes back then😁
I can't believe nintendo stole this game
But I have a new phone and
😂😂😂😂 ajajaja ???
Second
Imagine ''TASing'' a bootleg game ☠☠☠
Bootleg TAS :3
you can TAS anything that takes human input and gives you an output, man, microsoft excel even has TAS tools built-in
@@Putnam3145 If you put it that way than I agree.
This game really shows how pathetic og Mario World's graphics are.
My god its like watching someone preform an illegal backally abortion with a coathanger, and when its over another woman enters the room it never ends. This is so cursed and the god damn music I cant stop laughing at how bad it is
