- After starting with a 9 inch housing from an early 70s Ranchero, I filled it with goodies from Quick Performance. Aluminum 3rd member with a billet yoke, 370 gears, 35 spline spool, 35 spline axles with 1/2 inch studs, and an Explorer disc brake kit.

Good show!
Love to get a Ford 9" for my c/10 :)
Thanks for the video bud
I didn't use a jig to put a rear gusset on my 9 inch i tack left to right a couple of times then Lay weld
what hardware did you use to on the brake dist cover/retaining plate? they sent me the same bolts they sent you and they dont fit. the nuts hit the housing from the back and the bolts have a shoulder that hits.
Are u using will.wood bracket
Is the dana 60 stronger?
Ok so I’m scrapping my g body rear end for one of these. Most GM have the c clip that hold the axle in place. Excuse my ignorance, but the part you had trouble with, that’s what holds the axle in place? Much like a c-clip eliminator would?
Yes. These axles have a bearing pressed on that grab the axle. The end plates hold those bearings in the rear end. So if you break an axle inside the rear end, you don’t lose a wheel. Just make sure you get a big bearing 9 inch (Torino bearing).
wow nice work figuring it out that kit has alot of mistakes the average person is not going to be able to figure out and it will waste alot of peoples time they need to sale kits that work together bottom line your work looks great
I just put mine together and also got the explorer disc brake kit....does your brake pad cover enough rotor surface? Mine looks like it doesn't much, but I'm not to familiar with it.
Sorry for the late response. I actually had to go out and look at it. So ya, the pads seem to only cover about 75% of the rotor. Not sure if all the explorer brakes are like that, or just this particular kit.
@@averagedadsgarage thank you for the response sir
Unless u buy top of the line alloy housing many thousands they for majority of the lesser aluminium housings they flex and cause gear noise
He’s sacrificing strength for 15lbs. From what I’ve read the modular iron casing is stronger. But hey it’s his money.
should have got a Versailles rear end instead
Was considering doing the 9” ends on my 8.8. Think I made a mistake
Super 88 kit puts the set 20s/c clip eliminator on the ends
You plan on street driving with a spool?😅 best of luck to you in the turns gonna have to slip a tire to keep the chafing down.
Oh I’m looking forward to it. Lol. It’s a race car first, so I’m definitely giving up some driving comforts. I’m hoping because this truck is going to be lighter than most, it won’t tear up tires too bad on the street.
Man im going th the same shit my willwood i bought my not fit my9 inch im so upset
sell it before it`s to late Q/P rear ends can`t take that kind of power , I know longer will put there crap in my customer`s cars to many harmonic problems.
Who would you recommend?
What alternatives are there
