I thought the whole thing with Strange Supreme is that his grief manifested into this literal demon that was influencing his decisions (hence why his ‘final form’ was completely different than his mishmashed form) but when it was removed from him, he understood that this was bad. The rational good side of him protecting other universes while collecting universe killers while rationalizing that ‘oh, I could also take care of the threats AND rebuild my universe’ is where the whispers of the demon come in.

He was always wanting to save her though? That never changed, he just had a mission to take his mind off her. Then being alone for however long he was thinking about how things could have been different its easy to see how dove into madness
Honestly feel this has destroyed the character development we got with him, like the ‘demon strange’ part of him sort of makes more sense, but still I wish if they was set on making him the antagonist that it would be from a place of trying to do good rather than for his selfish reasons.
Really? The guy who'd rather destroy his own universe, kill another version of him just because he didn't want to give up on Christine. You didn't believe he's still obsess with her? 🤣 It actually didn't make sense for me when the Watcher just left him alone but then again he never really cared lol What I didn't like much from the episode was where are the other characters? They already have a good excuse (Strange has been collecting righteous heroes), why not bring them all in the last episode instead of just these 2 heroes? It felt incomplete.
@@rexarsenio9447 I agree I would have liked to have seen more of the characters we saw throughout the series. And with Strange, you saw his remorse and regret and the end of his first story, and him taking on his role as penance. To make him the villain in this way just feels very cheap and kinda makes what development we saw of him void.
Supreme strange taking on two powerful heroes with infinity powers/other cosmic weapons is a visual masterpiece. The reference to Loki at the end was excellent.
Regardless of what anyone may think of Kahhori's actual power level. I will say is that I love her powerset. It seems to make so much sense in connection to the space stone. Everything she does is related to space. Space as in location and movement if that makes sense. She creates portals, she runs fast, she stops and moves objects. Comparing this too for example Captain Marvel. Who's powers, at least I feel isn't very connected to how she got them, at least visually.
Honestly, I loved the chaos. I get the gripes. Not even going to try to argue them. And "Cabin in the Woods" is the exact description i was thinking. It went absolutely bonkers at that moment and i just ate it up. Can't wait to see Erik Voss break those scenes down. Let that man have his paternity leave first though!
This almost seems like too much lol. I like the earlier individual episodes. Just so much happening I don't know what's happening and any power scaling goes out the window it seems haha😂
So strange was scheming the whole time. He couldn't let Christine go. When they all gave kahhori and Peggy their weapons wow!!! Great finale for season 2
I want a season of this every year. It can go forever. Endless stories. Actors aging doesn’t matter. It’s great. I also wanna see Loki team up with the Watcher in season three.
RIP Strange Supreme. I love the ending showing God of Stories Loki. Now we know that he is not alone anymore since he has the Watcher and Captain Carter. I wonder if they could interact with him and does this mean that Captain Carter will be the one who will tell the heroes about Loki and will help him in Secret Wars? That would be cool to see.
@@koala322 yeah we know that but I think it will end in Secret Wars like the heroes will somehow find the way to free him but also keeping the tree alive. I don't know how that works but that's what I'm hoping.
Peggy by the end of this episode felt like when you were a kid and gave your favorite action figure ALL the combined accessories from all of your other toys 😂
If there is one thing I have learned about this show, it's that the creators fundamentally misunderstand the infinity stones, their value, and how they work
I do agree with the initial skepticism of reusing his motivation from last season but considering that he has been isolated alone ever since with nothing to grow off of put a his thoughts loneliness, sadness, and grief plus the manifestation of all the evilness he's absorbed become as powerful as he is I do think his turn to Evil did make sense. Like in real life typically you have other things to do to help you grow out of the dark place you find yourself in but Stephen literally had nothing to do but watch a trapped prism all by himself with no way of truly addressing his grief.
I totally buy the fact Stephen Strange will bide his time to figure out a new way to rebuild his timeline for Christine. I'm surprised they bumped into that.
Captain Carter went Super Saiyan with that sprinkle of fusion lol. Then mix it with operatic music playing in the background just elevates the scene. Even Kahhori just pulling no stops with her superspeed just incredible.
Good season except for the ending which felt rushed and cheap in the way Strange Supreme suddenly became evil again after saving the multiverse by stopping Ultravision in Season 1. From evil to good to evil again without explanation.
31:10 they did not allude clearly that Strange was still not completely good. But there was an allusion. In 1x4, the warden at the library(dont remember the name) said that the demons/monsters dont bargain. Yet, it seemed that Stranger tamed their powers with relative ease, staying fully in control(except for moments) and not being overwhelmed. Well, years and years of isolation with demons and an intense wish to fix your life would crack the toughest of wills.
I enjoy the idea of Captain Carter just hanging out with Watcher and visiting other Universes and realities. (I've decided on a headcanon that Watcher now allows Carter to travel with him and intervene, where he can't, in some Universes facing threats that could destroy them. Seeing as a theme between him and Captain Carter is that she feels he just "narrates" and he even acknowledges she gets things done... yeah.) 😊 I absolutely loved this season of What If. ❤ Also, if we just get even ONE episode next season of Captain Carter, Watcher and Storyteller Loki hanging out, interacting, I will be the happiest fangirl alive.

At no point did he ever say he gave up on bringing back Christine, or go thru any sort of actual redemption arc. He destroyed his universe, and still lost Christine, and we all felt bad for him. Making it all the easier for us to believe he learned from his mistakes. In fact, the prisons he has all the "universe killers" trapped in are the same exact pocket dimensions he trapped Infinity-Killmonger and Zola-Ultron in. He was more than likely planning this whole thing since that very moment in season 1 where he told The Watcher he'd keep an eye on them.
My feelings on the Infinity Stones were the exact opposite: Once you get over the fact that the Infinity Stones are established to not work outside of their original universe, she did next to nothing with them. I eventually had to come to terms with her not having any real imagination to use them to their full capacity.
I realized yesterday that I think the reason we love it so much is cuz it’s largely the OG heroes we’ve seen this season. It’s so nostalgic in a good way. I don’t know if we saw anyone from phase four, not that I hated phase four, but seeing the OG peeps was so fun. More every year please!
When they showed Loki's tree at the end they very subtly played the music from his show. So yeah, they're definitely connecting the show to everything.
Thank you for the comments at the end. You have earned a fan for life. I am new to your channel and started watching when What IF season 2 came out. It's nice to see a channel not creating hate for the sake of creating hate.
And now our journey with "What If.....?" S2 ends! As someone who read the first volume of the comic off the stands (I'm not mistyping; that's how old I am!), I still find this amazing!!! What a great level of entertainment Marvel and you have provided!!! THANKS for that!!!!
I think some have forget that strange captured? Engulfed? Sold his soul as the watcher has mentioned to the demons that made him supreme strange. They are not a separate entity from his grief but a totally different entity from his doings just to get Christine back. Hope there was an episode to justify why he did this and not make us think, "didn't he just helped the multiverse in S1? why did he turned bad again?" Like for me it easy to understand that he would have that turn and do something bad again but at least we could have seen it not as a twist. The captain carter thing of why she does use the stones easily and her power scaling, an easy digestion of explanation would just be she had first hand knowledge from jumping from one universe to the other as well as being part of defeating Ultron on S1, if you notice at first she just kept using the power stone and space stone. She only begun using the reality stone when Supreme Stranger Multiplied, and the time stone to stop everyone from falling. So she did not fully used the stones to its full potential technically. But I agree, it has come to Captain Carter so easily. Would've been better if there was a struggle to justify some actions but there wasn't. Still great episode. S2 has been great and hoping to see some ideas brought into live action.
Fully agree on what u're saying.. imo all the eps of s2 feel kinda rush.. like, wow okay.. we're doing that now? Oh we're here now.. i mean it's great.. but it feels too fast..
@@devathey If we compare to this season and before, two of them have good and bad in narrative aspect but overall still good and great. "Rush" is still a main problem in "What If...?" series imo, because the duration in each eps to explain about some characters in each universes in one ep. But we'll see another Marvel animation that probably setting place only in one universe, Marvel Zombies. We'll see how they cook with it.
I don't know man felt cheap how Strange Supreme after his redemption arc suddenly became evil again. Ruined all his character building in the previous season. Felt like the writers just didn't know what to do with the character so they had to get rid of him somehow.
It was one hell of a spectacle! It might be not the strongest narratively, but it felt like an epic final battle and worthy of a finale episode of a "what if" season. My main gripe would be kahhori's character needed more time in the season and she seems a little too OP
That was how you do a mad conclusion. I think the only thing it needed was an actual a set up. Imagine an episode just before the finale where we actually see Strange falling from grace again and really lean into the madness and the manifestation of his Grief. Then we go back to the seemingly benevolent Strange meeting Carter.
First - I always appreciate that your reviews are honest. Sometimes it's fun to watch reactors that mostly just focus on the positive/enthusiasm (there's a place for that and most of the channels I watch focus on that because when it comes down to it, I just want to enjoy the stuff I like!) but I do enjoy that you aren't afraid to be critical/thoughtful, but also do it in a way that isn't toxic or demeaning others' enjoyment. It also makes your positive reactions feel more earned! Second - yeah, I ultimately agree with a lot of the criticisms. This episode was similar to the previous in that it didn't totally land with me (and also episode 2) in that it just kind of ended up being a big power extravanganza where the plot dictated who was the most powerful at any given moment. Absolutely, it was fun. I can believe that Kahhori (after all this time - I get the impression she's been at it for awhile) is at Captain Marvel levels - she has a very similar origin, so I didn't find her power levels to be quite that egregious. However - Peggy really should NOT be this super powered. I find it beggars belief that she could stand up against Stange Supreme. Even WITH the help of the other heroes and weapons - it was a cool moment, and the shorter episode length I'm sure means the story gets compressed, but as a story beat it just didn't feel as satisfying to me. To be clear I think Marvel has this problem with a LOT of its characters and climaxes, including the male ones. (I had issues with some of GOG 3 because of that - Quill and the Guardians were taking hits in fights I felt they REALLY should not have been able to take.) I'm sure there are people who are going to zero in on the 'female' character agenda, and I think maybe we are seeing it more because there's more of a push to get women in heroic roles, and I think that's great, but I completely agree that we can take some time with these arcs, not just throw them in and check some boxes. Anyway, maybe that also makes me a bad feminist, lol. But come on, women deserve good stories and TIME spent on their characters. I will say - and maybe this is more of a feminine perspective - I do feel like I saw some of Peggy's struggle. It was just more of an emotional one. Maybe kind of similar to how a lot of people felt Captain Marvel was 'emotionless' which i really didn't feel that way about her. I don't know if that's just kind of a 'women's intuition' thing but I guess the struggle is just more...subtle? then how they would show it in male characters.
I was just excited every time they simply mentioned Loki's name in this episode or some appearance of variant Loki... the fact that a Loki Variant that just had a gun is a universe destroyer/righteous hero lmao..Like that's all that variant needed But then the end..OMG
@@IronMan013 how tf are you gonna make this feel not rushed in 30 mins with all what’s happening? this is the last episode, they can’t just make a new one as a part 2 🙄 and strange is defending the power of the stones, that’s why it was hard for him too. the only reason ultron was defeated because of the usb.
@@jnmksnot true. It was rushed considering his entire arc last season was not giving into his grief. They could have set it up in earlier episodes that he was slowly being influenced and turning evil. Instead of just doing a whole 180 in this episode. You can still do a lot in 30min.
A good idea, the battle of heroes and villains of the Multiverse, a nod to Battleworld, but I didn't like that Strange was a villain in the first season, he had already redeemed himself and here they ruined it.
@@shadowx8145He accepted his world was gone and chose to guard Killmonger and Zola as penance. Then suddenly he decides he wants to get his world back by killing a bunch of people (including heroes). That's the opposite of being redeemed.
The fact that even with all of the most OP powers that Peggy got and teaming up with Kahori to fight Strange Supreme, he still managed to overpower them all shows how insanely powerful Dr. Strange can be.
They need to keep What If as a anthology, the main problems with both seasons is trying to get the ending to work with all the different stories, the finally should just be a big final story that puts a nice end to the anthology, save the biggest and best episode for last
Peggy did struggle guys, her struggle is about reuniting with Steve. It doesn't always have to be physical. Also Peggy had Ulton Vision's infinity stone armor which she took from Kilmonger.
Disney doubled down on the nonsense again. Not going to say anymore cause comments get deleted/reported around here if you say the wrong thing. The dynamic between the 3 characters at the end 😉
They tried to do the Wandavision storyline but with Strange Supreme. It was okay but too late. Like having this storyline as an S1 finale would have been so much better. Because then the Strange Supreme character arc would have been satisfactory. Also I can get behind how Peggy knew instinctively knew how to use the stones because she saw how Infinity Ultron used them so she must have picked up the skills and use of each stone. I can get behind Kahori being op because Captain Marvel also got her powers from Tesseract and she is considered super op, even though her opening portals was kinda sus. All in all a great show, easily 7 out of 10 but just because of previous episodes. From the title card I thought it would be Strange Supreme appearing in each episode and trying to solve the issues much easier. It could have been like SS asking the Watcher why doesn't he intervene and Watcher explaining the reasoning and letting him try intervening to see the effect of intervention, but oh well.
I think Captain Carter has the same struggles as Steve but she’s also moving faster and needs to have story fit into 30 mins episodes (yes, it could span the season). If you have a problem with the power leveling, then you should mention Supreme Strange being OP while Carter and Kahhori literally need infinity stones and cosmic weapons to fight him but he still holds his own.
Supreme Strange was practicing magic for thousands of years in his episode. I think Kahorris use of power makes sense with practice. But I think the MCU for some reason tries to level up female characters too quickly for the weirdest reason. In iron man 1 most of the film is stark practicing and refining the suit. MCU seem to ignore this for female characters which then attracts critisism. If they give some attention to this it would help the characters more. It's always writing.
@@brandon_youtubeYou don't need to learn to use the stones, Thanos used them instantly in Infinity War/Endgame as soon as he got them, it's more so about thought and will when using them rather than actually learning to do so.
@@Soutar3DGgreat argument but bad point. Thanos is a being who lived for thousand of years he was studying the stones for thousand of years. The good point for this argument will be killmonger he used the stones immediately similar to captain carter. But holding all the stones in barehand without the armor (yes if you go see that scene again she doesn't have a armour and was wearing normal wardrobe when punching strange) is lazy writing. When half celestial have almost died holding one stone.
For strange part is a little unfair they level up so much the two characters i enjoy it but the s1ep4 is still on top that set the expectation quite high (in emotion) in this ep there is some touching moment but its so fast that u can't process it ( its my opinion that s1ep4 is my fav. ) And strange here is like wanda in mom so definitely she still alive
Yep. When will the MCU learn it's the character stuff we enjoy that serves the story not superherodom and punchy punchy. It's weird they don't seem to get that. Tony stark, Steve Rogers, banner, Loki Thor, all character development. Guardians, infinitywar Civil war, all driven by emotions
Kahori(Whoever u spell her name) got her power from the space stone..which means she has the power of an infinity stone in her just like Wanda...so it makes sense she is powerful
Strange quite literally consumed a large variety of demonic entities in his pursuit of his goals. It's nice to see that that method of power gain came back to bite him to show the true consequence of it. He has taken these entities into himself and those beings have used his grief to turn him into something he couldn't control.
The season was fine overall but there were a lot of minor things that really bothered me like. First of all, last season's finale really put an expectation that we would see the remaining characters from previous episodes in major roles. Probably still by the mid of the episode I was wondering when Nova Nebula, White Hela or Warworld Iron Man will appear and it felt disappointing they haven't. Additionally, there were a lot of inconsistencies within the universe and characters: - episode 2 - how do Peggy and Howard know that Bucky is the WInter Soldier (Steve didn't recognize him in Winter Soldier with the mask on)? It just felt like lazy writing to assume the characters know this just because the audience knows this - episode 4 - 616 Tony was traumatized after New York and wanted to protect the Earth above all else. Here he just gets to know that Gamorra is a loyal daughter of Thanos and his first instinct was to see the "good in her" and talk her out of it? Bull... Tony would be out for revenge for NY. - episode 6 - I'm mixed on the messaging of Kahhori - it feels very pro war unfortunately and making her the all noble hero for it doesn't fit right. She finds a tribe living in peace and she wants them to join a war. I get helping the weaker but something just felt off about the delivery here. - episode 7 - timing made little sense to me - I thought Hela was fighting alongside Odin before human civilization was even a thing, so there's no chance she would encounter Wengwu and the Ten Rings - episode 8 - How is Hogan a monster again? - episode 9 - how did Captain Carter not die or at least get seriously injured from palming all infinity stones? Makes no sense within the established universe.
I guess you could say strange having his own plan was teased when he "offered" to watch over kill monger and Zola stuck in the dome at the end of the season. He smirked like he could use them
My problem with this episode is the plot holes. Carter can pick up the stones specifically the power stone and not get hurt? Kahhori a teenager with not even a day of experince making all the fights 2 mins less. Strange who killed the mystic creatures and absorb them all of a sudden back to life and is getting revenge by bringing back the universe? Fun episode tho🎻
I don't know if Kahori is a teenager here. Isn't she older because by the time we see her, Red Skull has destroyed the world. So it's AT least the 40s while she started all the way back in the Spanish Inquisition. She's like Centuries old lol. I had quite a few issues with the episode as well but that's not exactly a plot hole.
@@rvds2040 RIGHT! I feel like people are just nitpicking at this point. The episode has quite a few flaws tbh. But people are making it sound like it's the second coming of the Secret Invasion finale lol.
Kahhorri almost loses to Spanish conquistadors and now she can open portals to all realities and go toe to toe with Supreme Strange? And Captain Carter is the definition of Mary Sue, you cannot deny that. Why did strange even need her there? He already found Kahhorri without her.
i love the scene when Captain Carter goes to find Kahhori. Because when Kahhori is running through snow and punching Carter, it reminded me of Quicksilver vs Hawkeye in AOU :).
I just finished watching the episode and got to say the finale of season 2 of What If...? is cinematic and this episode was even more cinematic than the previous episodes.
I enjoyed it! One of the creators of the show has stated Peggy Carter is her favorite so that’s why she is used so much, there’s a personal bias there. Which I can understand, I would want to put my favorite character into everything if I were in charge. Plus I don’t mind chaos in an animated tv show that’s whole premise it’s alternative universe shenanigans

It actually didn't make sense for me when the Watcher just left him alone but then again he never really cared lol
What I didn't like much from the episode was where are the other characters?
@@YaBoyCoriSo simplicity whilst being INSANELY packed and good “art” is just not your go?
Regardless of what anyone may think of Kahhori's actual power level. I will say is that I love her powerset. It seems to make so much sense in connection to the space stone. Everything she does is related to space. Space as in location and movement if that makes sense. She creates portals, she runs fast, she stops and moves objects. Comparing this too for example Captain Marvel. Who's powers, at least I feel isn't very connected to how she got them, at least visually.
Ik I made 3 comments already but Dr strange spent abt 20 years trying to get Christine back which is why it makes sense for him to still be evil.

That would be cool to see.

pretty good
EPIC, just EPIC

I didn't like it
I do agree with the initial skepticism of reusing his motivation from last season but considering that he has been isolated alone ever since with nothing to grow off of put a his thoughts loneliness, sadness, and grief plus the manifestation of all the evilness he's absorbed become as powerful as he is I do think his turn to Evil did make sense.
Yeah I don’t get that complaint. He destroyed everything to get her back the first time so why would he have any other reason to keep going
Captain Carter went Super Saiyan with that sprinkle of fusion lol. Then mix it with operatic music playing in the background just elevates the scene. Even Kahhori just pulling no stops with her superspeed just incredible.
WE NEED MORE KAHHORI CONTENT. Her power set is damn amazinggg!!!

The consistency with these uploads is crazy lol! I haven’t seen this season yet but atp I might as well watch it through your guys reactions to them.
Seeing as a theme between him and Captain Carter is that she feels he just "narrates" and he even acknowledges she gets things done... yeah.) 😊
I absolutely loved this season of What If. ❤
Also, if we just get even ONE episode next season of Captain Carter, Watcher and Storyteller Loki hanging out, interacting, I will be the happiest fangirl alive.

This Steven Strange never got over losing Christine. That was a split version that The Ancient One made, the one who FOUGHT Strange Supreme and lost.
No he def did. That was his whole arc in the first season about not giving into his desires and making sacrifices for others.
@@joshuacollins9316 what sacrifice did he make for others?
@@joshuacollins9316 all he did was say "I'm sorry" and then help The Watcher defeat Infinity Ultron.
"Zombies are pretty universal". That statement shows that Kahhori actually knows a lot about other universes' cultures despite being from an old era.
Strange sacrifice 😭 he loves Christine in every universe 💕
This episode was so crazy and fun! The Ending with the Yggdrasil Tree from Loki was so cool! 👍
The rush can probably be explained through the 30-40 minute maximum episode length, otherwise I’m sure Peggy would have shown more visible struggle.
I don't know man felt cheap how Strange Supreme after his redemption arc suddenly became evil again. Ruined all his character building in the previous season. Felt like the writers just didn't know what to do with the character so they had to get rid of him somehow.
@@TimmyTurner421totally disagree
It was one hell of a spectacle! It might be not the strongest narratively, but it felt like an epic final battle and worthy of a finale episode of a "what if" season. My main gripe would be kahhori's character needed more time in the season and she seems a little too OP
"What is grief, if not love persevering?"

Nahhh don’t defend this dogshit

Kahhorri.....she rolls her R's. As a speaker of PURE english....even I understood that.
Strange quite literally consumed a large variety of demonic entities in his pursuit of his goals. It's nice to see that that method of power gain came back to bite him to show the true consequence of it. He has taken these entities into himself and those beings have used his grief to turn him into something he couldn't control.
Greg has this unique ability to not like and like something simultaneously.
Both Devery Jacobs and Hayley Atwell are of Native American descent. Their team up was good
The last part of Peggy falling with the monstrous Strange Supreme reminded me a lot of Gandalf falling with the Balrog in LOTR. Peak vibes.
Additionally, there were a lot of inconsistencies within the universe and characters:
- episode 2 - how do Peggy and Howard know that Bucky is the WInter Soldier (Steve didn't recognize him in Winter Soldier with the mask on)? It just felt like lazy writing to assume the characters know this just because the audience knows this
- episode 4 - 616 Tony was traumatized after New York and wanted to protect the Earth above all else.
- episode 7 - timing made little sense to me - I thought Hela was fighting alongside Odin before human civilization was even a thing, so there's no chance she would encounter Wengwu and the Ten Rings
- episode 8 - How is Hogan a monster again?
- episode 9 - how did Captain Carter not die or at least get seriously injured from palming all infinity stones? Makes no sense within the established universe.
Didnt see strange have the scarlet witch, he dont want that smoke.
@gualacheesesteak yes but isn't that just a Wanda variant? I don't think that's the scarlet witch.
This show made Doctor strange be really the threat to the Multiverse. Reed Richards was right all along.
Strange was the best part of this episode. Sad he had to die.
Hopefully someday, we see this type of OP Strange in live action.
THE ENDING BLEW MY MIND
I guess you could say strange having his own plan was teased when he "offered" to watch over kill monger and Zola stuck in the dome at the end of the season. He smirked like he could use them
Kahhori has the space stone power. Have we forgotten the power of the space stone is teleportation!!!!
That ending with loki tree multiverse make me scream at the end
18:52 - Greg sputters out a giddy "this is the fun" !
Exactly
It felt illogical
I don't know if Kahori is a teenager here. Isn't she older because by the time we see her, Red Skull has destroyed the world. So it's AT least the 40s while she started all the way back in the Spanish Inquisition. She's like Centuries old lol. I had quite a few issues with the episode as well but that's not exactly a plot hole.
wasnt that the point of the armor she's wearing, to be able to use the stones without dying, she's also a supersoldier
@@rvds2040 RIGHT! I feel like people are just nitpicking at this point. The episode has quite a few flaws tbh. But people are making it sound like it's the second coming of the Secret Invasion finale lol.

This seems like a good show. You've all had a great time watching it.
Kahhorri almost loses to Spanish conquistadors and now she can open portals to all realities and go toe to toe with Supreme Strange? And Captain Carter is the definition of Mary Sue, you cannot deny that. Why did strange even need her there? He already found Kahhorri without her.
Fortunately, season 3 is already in the works.
i love the scene when Captain Carter goes to find Kahhori. Because when Kahhori is running through snow and punching Carter, it reminded me of Quicksilver vs Hawkeye in AOU :).

I enjoyed it! One of the creators of the show has stated Peggy Carter is her favorite so that’s why she is used so much, there’s a personal bias there.
