    that final action scene of Once upon a time was such a surreal experience in the cinema. the entire audience going into uncontrolled laughter for something so macabre was one of the best silliest experiences i've had

      @@FurtivePigmy You have to understand the context.
      Those characters are in fact depicting real people. The entire bloody action scene is a "what-if" recreation of Helter Skelter, a famous murder scene where a bunch of crazies from Charles Manson's camp went and killed some innocent people in LA in a VERY grisly scene.
      These people are very much not good people, so seeing them get completely blindsided by a cartoonishly-capable movie guy was pretty funny and cathartic.

    The discipline of the dogs were admirable, but the discipline of the stunt team to make sure it was a 100% accident free scene was great to watch.

    • @Dxco31
      @Dxco31 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      that's because they chose to use pitbulls instead of smarter dog breed like german shepherd or belgian malinois. pitbulls are notoriously famous for easily distracted and harder to train and have a bigger bite force than other breed. i bet if they chose to use german shepherd or belgian malinois they 100% didn't need to do that extensive exercise BS

    • @gramathy999
      @gramathy999 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      kinda adorably to see the dog just chilling getting its makeup done

    • @MisterChelonian
      @MisterChelonian ปีที่แล้ว +55

      @@Dxco31 German Shepherds have the same bite force as a Pit Bull. About 230 psi for both. Also Pits are no less trainable then other similar sized breeds. The "excessive excercise BS" is standard animal actor training, done with all on screen animals. You should leave your misinformed dog prejudice at the door.

    • @michaelvasquez9620

      @@MisterChelonian thank you for this comment

    • @TJMiton
      @TJMiton ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @@MisterChelonian calling pit bulls as trainable as shepherds is pretty wild.
      They certainly are trainable for sure, but different breeds are definitely differently trainable and dogs like shepherds are near the top of that list. Pit bulls are not.
      Don't assume every comment about pit bulls is hating on the breed or misinformed.
      PS: pretty damn sure they would have used the same safety procedures with shepherds tho in any case.

    I like how Amy asks questions, the questions are very friendly to people like me who have very little idea about stuntwork (despite the number of these reactions videos I've seen), like what has changed in the 18 years Kimberly has been working. I also appreciate how Niko just allows the guest and the co-host talk about the stunt work. He isn't insecure that be feels the need to weigh in his opinion all the time. When he does talk, he leans on his expertise which is direction and camerawork to bring that perspective in in case it wasn't mentioned.

    It's worth checking out more of the Lethal Weapon movies for Stuntmen react. I feel like there is at least one crazy stunt per movie, the 4th one has Riggs riding a table down the highway, lol
    Also, Season 2 Episode 7 of the Chucky tv series has a really awesome head exploding scene, something I'd expect to see in a big movie.
    Finally, the What We do in the Shadows TV series has both good and bad effects that I think are worth checking out, felt they were overall surprisly good for a comedy series though.

      Yeah, come to think of it, why we haven't we seen much from the Lethal Weapon series yet? I think they did the airbag fall with Riggs & the suicidal guy from the first film, but that's about it as far as I can remember.

    Illang: The Wolf Brigade (2018)
    This movie is a South Korean adaptation of a Japanese Manga that has a bunch of really cool stunts. My favorite is when the main character does a dropkick through the passenger side window to hit the diver.

    There are some great reaction faces in here! There are a couple times where Niko's sympathetic/enthralled, Kimberly's explaining in a matter of fact way, and Amy's just horrified because she knows EXACTLY what Kimberly went through. Love it.

    I'll be honest, them doing the head smashes practically kind of tracks with everything we've heard about Quentin and Brad. It's cool that she was apparently fine with it, but it's fucked up that it was even suggested.

    @8:40, Niko, to make sugar/candy glass: you are heating sugar until it becomes hard candy. Just think of how hard a lollipop is (very hard under compression). So think of it as a slightly softer but similar mechanical properties of silicon dioxide that has not been tempered. (Sugar isnt a non-Newtonian fluid yet both glass and candied sugar at room temp behave similarly).
    Candied sugar can be extremely sharp when its broken.

    That Head to Phone smack is damned gnarly... I really expected it to be at least a foam phone. Not just the prongs sticking out of it. ...
    But then again, the longer hair probably did help selling the impact. I've been told that long hair is a common trick used in Hong Kong to keep the visual energy when shooting fight scenes.

    An animal related stunt; the final chase scene from ‘The Man from Snowy River’ made in 1985- herds of horses running around, actors falling off and other set pieces within it really makes you appreciate the intricacies and choreography of working with animals. Would strongly recommend reviewing.

    Love all of your works!! Suggestion: Compare all 'Scream' movies stunts. There have been 10 killers in total (not including the new #6) and when in costume, they all move, fall, run, trip etc all the same. My daughter and I have been watching these in preparation for the new one and I have never yelled at the TV more in my life!!!
