Anyone who actually listens to George’s individual work DOES NOT believe that a lot of his songs were “rubbish.” He wrote dozens of great songs so I don’t get the belittling of his songwriting that some people indulge in. My playlist of favorite George songs takes hours to listen to and then, because I like it so much, I listen to it again.
I hear ya. When this was a hit back in 1969, I was at a Junior High School dance. My cute girlfriend and I had our FIRST ever slow dance in our life's. Which led to our FIRST ever real kiss, right on the gym floor. At almost 65 yrs old I still remember that dance and kiss. Love to be 14 yrs old again and dancing on the gym floor. Years later I saw her and I said to her, "You remember "Something"? She said, "Yes I will never forget that dance and our 1st kiss."
Add George Martin to that list too. I think by the time they got to Let It Be (early '69), they all knew George was an incredibly competent songwriter. Unfortunately, George was not always given the encouragement by the others (aside from Ringo perhaps) that they should have. The entire group knew Something and Here Comes The Sun were fine and worthy compositions.
George took a while to develop as a songwriter, but toward the end of the band he was on par and sometimes even a better songwriter than John and Paul. Exhibit A.
I actually took a class called "History of the Beatles" in which we would learn their history and listen to their albums in order. I told myself after the white album that I don't think they can ever make something so great again, especially since they were falling apart at the time. Then I listened to this song.... George Harrison is definitely equal if not better than Lennon-McCartney's song writing abilities. It was truly a great experience learning about them and watching them grow as just boys into these musical geniuses. George Harrison is truly my favorite Beatle. Lennon and McCartney had each other when they wrote but George was independent and still created master pieces like Blue Jay Way and She Said She Said. I hope you're resting in the heavens where you belong George and smile as you watch new lovers of your music grow.
I think George was the Beatles ace in the hole.He contributed so much beautiful guitar playing, put the Beatles in a different class altogether. Then add the fantastic harmony singing he came up with that's why the Beatles were the best.I think if you watched the sessions for Abbey road, you will see that John and Paul, both give George help with some of the words for Something. The BEATLES worked very well in the studio
I agree that George was an ace in the hole as was Ringo. That's why they're the "Fab Four" they all brought something to the plate. Take away anyone of them and you have an average band.
Kiks in relation to your comment: I told myself after the white album that I don't think they can ever make something so great again. You have to analyse the following songs: Ohh Darling, Hey Buldog, Don't let me down, the majestic Here comes the sun, Let it be, Come together, and in Mexico we called some like Assembly 1 and 2 to those little songs from Abbey road, which I think they were mixed as a symphony (several magnificent movements), to understand that they continued their way to make inspirational music, and then it was their individual period which gave us to many great songs.
George is also my personal favorite :) I think although his songs contributed to the Beatles were amazing (especially "Something" & "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" But I must correct you - "She said She said" is John's

But to be honest if he was not with John/ Paul I doubt you'd know his name. With his voice he wouldn't make it far....perhaps a sessions guitarist at best.Granted,he went far with the opportunity given him,but lets not kid ourselves. And if you're a true listener of his music, you'd see the many many ways he pretty much "borrowed" from Paul/John and the Beatles days. Many of his songs, esp the early releases, almost over lap the Beatles songs of John and Paul. And same thing with lyrics.

Hermosa composición ,digna de George Harrison el Beatle ,introvertido pero talentoso los seres que decimos raros son extraordinarios sin tanto hablar, dan maravillosos mensajes ,sin maquillajes sin tanto bla,bla mis respetos a George.
Met him once with Ringo nice people!
In my opinion Something is one of the greatest songs of modern era, I have gone off Clapton in recent years but in this piece he helps to elevate this tune to even greater heights.
Eric does all of his best work when someone else is singing and writing the songs. Like this.
@@thewaysofnature good?
Lol. The greatest player from his generation. The most influential, revered and imitated guitarist of all.
The man set the bar so high that few if any will come close.
@@thewaysofnature lol. Clapton was on another level then Hendrix, before Hendrix was even know! Hendrix was in awe of Clapton.
Clapton is on another level then Hendrix in touch, phrasing, feel snd knowledge of the blues.
Prince was not even in the same Stratosphere as Clapton with 102 fever and 2 broken arms.
Prince was around long enough to know that he was never in the same discussion as EC on any level of guitar capacity.
@@thewaysofnature
No, im just going by what BB and Buddy said about EC.
Both said he was on another level then his hereos. EC to the blues that the phenomenal founder's created and brought to a world wide audience, at a level of musicianship that was on another level.
I think BB and Buddys opinions are a little more relevant and knowledgeable then yours.
I just have to listen and see to know that EC surpassed the greats.
I watch the amazing Freddie King, and then watch EC version's of his songs Torn down, Have you ever loved a woman, and others and realize that Clapton's playing and vocals are the gold standard!
Just watch his From the cradle shows and the Martin Scorsese documentary nothing but the blues featuring EC. It is the finest display of blues playing and vocals ever laid down.
Это шедевр будут слушать многие поколения людей желающих мира и любви!
Как тяжко с ними растоваться, просто невыносимо.
He did not write many songs.... But the songs he wrote were Masterpieces!
He wrote many songs. When The Beatles broke up, he had enough material to release a double album (all things must pass).
@@kellylawsonkl a tripple.
A few were, but a lot were rubbish
Anyone who actually listens to George’s individual work DOES NOT believe that a lot of his songs were “rubbish.” He wrote dozens of great songs so I don’t get the belittling of his songwriting that some people indulge in. My playlist of favorite George songs takes hours to listen to and then, because I like it so much, I listen to it again.
@@jj9749 Babe, you don't know what you're talking about 🤣
Sweet sweet melody. George Harrison one talented musician. Never grow to old to listen .
Something. Great lyrics. I'm a one man band on youtube.
Hello 👋
Such a beautiful version!!! The solos are hypnotising!!!
love the photos of George, so handsome!
I miss him.😭💖
This song is literally the BEST song ever! Even better than the Beatles version. Such a heartwarming and pure song from such a wonderful person!

lo maximo beatles por siempre
A great version of one of the greatest songs ever written.
I read a long time ago that John and Paul never really appreciated George's talent until later in the Beatles time together. This is one of his best!
George was getting better ... better ... better all the time! ;-))
Honestly his songs were deeper
Add George Martin to that list too. I think by the time they got to Let It Be (early '69), they all knew George was an incredibly competent songwriter. Unfortunately, George was not always given the encouragement by the others (aside from Ringo perhaps) that they should have. The entire group knew Something and Here Comes The Sun were fine and worthy compositions.
Gary Webb im with ya man
George took a while to develop as a songwriter, but toward the end of the band he was on par and sometimes even a better songwriter than John and Paul. Exhibit A.
George was known as the quiet Beatle but he always had a track on each album , Everyone a classic. Gorgeous George x Humble to the core .

George Harrison's music are just timeless and beautiful. Rest In Peace George...
Impressive how George compositions always reach perfection. He is my #1 Beatle undoubtedly.
Loved you George from the day I first saw you on Ed Sullivan in the 60s!
100% the best version of this song, between the music an the pics it gets me every time 😥😥
Increíble Eric Clapton, Increíble y hermosa canción de George Harrison. Increíble dúo de talentos
I’m a George Harrison FAN! Love his talent!
You should give a listen to George's album, "All Things Must Pass". It's splendid.
George is also my personal favorite :) I think although his songs contributed to the Beatles were amazing (especially "Something" & "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
But I must correct you - "She said She said" is John's
Clapton: who did you think about when you sing this song?
Harrison: My wife of course:
Clapton: ....oh me too.
Nice one 😂 Clapton got Layla though
@@ani-keithteeluckdharry7413 Obviously, she was one hot Lady. Two of the greatest love songs, written by two different geniuses were composed in her honor.

Bugs Bunny meme: "our wife"
George and Ringo were once asked what did they do when John and Paul wrote music. George’s answer was “Play marbles”. 🤣👍. Absolutely George Harrison 😊

how ironic two men best friends and they loved the same woman. and it did not work out for either...but they still stayed friends.
Well that's what good people do.
ikr
Ojunix maureen too
I think it's great. George could be bitter at times and was known to hold grudges (ask Paul), but he always saw the "big picture".
That proves what a strong friendship can achieve. Besides, both of them got divorced from Patty.
The best beatle in my opinion
Fabrizio Bianchi concordo pienamente

George just never had an ego , like Paul and John. It's really that simple. I've added this. I never said he never had an ego, of course he did, but John and Paul, just wouldn't let it shine until the last couple of years. As you've probably guessed , I'm a massive Beatle fan. Oh! Side note the Rutles were brilliant. Ce'ad Mile Fa'ilte. Co Donegal.

@@hw343434 sorry, but you have no idea what music and guitar are about!
@@diegoferrari3341 i play guitar for Over 20 years. Clapton is a master. But George is much more original and concise in his playing, he says a LOT more than Clapton with less. No wasted notes or unnecessary cliche blues pentatonic repetitive phrases like Clapton. Plus superior tone from Harrison. Beatles with Clapton would’ve never been the great band they were
I miss George's soul and spiritual essence on this earth.
George was the MOST talented Beatle by far. Not to mention, the most handsome...

Why does the first 34 seconds make me want to tear up 😢 is it because of how beautiful the intro solo is or is it the feeling of not having George around anymore
Feel the same-- george was interesting nothing at all like the others but a little more speciial😊

Something in the way she moves
Attracts me like no other lover
Something in the way she woos me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how
Somewhere in her smile she knows
That I don't need no other lover
Something in her style that shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how
You're asking me will my love grow
I don't know, I don't know
You stick around and it may show
I don't know, I don't know
Something in the way she knows
And all I have to do is think of her
Something in the things she shows me
I don't want to leave her now
You know I believe and how

George Harrison was the best of the Beatles.
Not even. Looked stupid with the guitar up so high. Damn!
Without a doubt
Not at all
I loved George with all my heart, Have all his albums--every single one.
