A composer of great quality, although misunderstood by his band mates. This song, by the way, required Clapton for the rest of The Beatles to feel some "enthusiasm" to record it.
Man, this really shows how much Harrison's voice changed; the original was more of a shy but amazingly talented young man singing, while this is a grown and confident legend.

Totally. I think some people are into Beatle backlash.. you hear people slag Ringo and it’s like, okay so this person is probably one of those drummers who plays inappropriately complex fills every 4 bars. 😂 give me a good George solo any time, beautiful subtle & melodic, and often has a kind of “sonic” edge like Hendrix. Like he really cared about his tone. His chimey Vox tones in the early days, and his later brilliant slide work inspired by the pitch inflections found in Indian music. I’d put Prince and Elliot Easton from The Cars in that category too. Just always tasteful, melodic, and simply sound amazing.
BirdYoumans Great comments & I totally agree with you. Being such a fan of George Harrison, have you seen the video of him & Eric Clapton at the 1971 Concert For Bangladesh? If not, check it out, it's superb!!
I love the way george and eric look at each other. They are superstars, legends, having a cool conversation with the guitars. You can feel the respect and all the love there.
When you see legends as Elton John, Phil Collins, Ray Cooper, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne etc. are accompany to just two men on stage, you know definetly - these two are THE GODS And there were four.
One of the absolute best live performances of this tune with its mesmerizing cascade of instruments and spot-on vocals. Also a rare occasion where we get to see and hear George playing sections of lead guitar, with good pal Eric encouraging him on.
Listening to this in November 2024… My dad and uncle introduced me to this song through the Concert for Bangladesh videos. Seeing Clapton, Harrison, Starr, and more collaborate on a track is something that is so foreign in today’s music scene. @@user-ni2mz6pn5f, thanks for letting us know you're not a drummer. 😉

@Dayga, Charlie Watts is another kind of cool, as in no-shred-of-emotion-whatsoever-cool.

Look at the quality on stage. It cannot get that much better.
I look at my mic and I notice it's turning... Fantastic song, George!
🙄Darn mic -- fix the damn mic!!
Anyone got a tie wrap
That DAMN mic drives me crazy every time I watch this and I have Watched It A LOT !!!!!
I can't believe I almost went through life without seeing this performance. The interweaving guitar solos... just wow.
Yes best live version of this song.
I agree. George right on song an outstanding vocal performance. Nailed it
You took the words from my mouth. Never saw a crew like that before. Harrrison, Star, Clapton, John, Collins, Lynne....just amazing.
rock….n……roll 👏🏼
@@johnt7630 with Harrison, check the one with Prince :)
George was in good voice that night and playing with his buddy behind him. Harrison was totally underrated.
I was at that concert 1988 fantastic we did not expect them to turn up everyone was on their chairs when they were introduced on stage great night Charles and Diana was in the audience
Magical, stunning, breathtakingly beautiful performance. Miss you, George.
My god Clapton’s tone on that Gibson is epic. How about George going toe to toe with him in that final solo as well? Sensational!
The eye contact George gave was truly who he was. I loved it.
George could play guitar damn good, Clapton was brought in by George because there was tension and he thought Eric being there would calm things , which it did.
You're absolutely right about that
Strange to see Clapton on Les Paul and George on a Stratocaster
Sounds like he ran it through a compressor with a bit of chorus.
Ive watched the 'concert for George' and Prince versions so many times im so glad i found this. Georges voice is so big here ive never heard him sing like that, and that Dual guitar solo wow!
The Beatles are the gift that keep on giving. Just when you think you've seen or heard every clip there's a new one.
George looked at Eric playing guitar, saying, you think I can't do that, huh?
There's just something about a guy playing a guitar!
And George - better looking with every year!
Put this along with Don Felder & Joe Walsh’s duo in Hotel California - both so fantastic! 😁
@@gillianrayner3586 What a beautiful mane of hair he has!
George Harrison and Eric Clapton sound amazing together. This is definitely a priceless experience. Your guitar gently weeps. That's a musical masterpiece. You both are making that guitar gently weep.
If I remember well Eric played in the original version too

It has amazed me for years how four such diverse personalities could get together in collaboration and produce such profound music. Then you watch Eric and George,Ringo and Phill playing in joyful harmony and what could have been............

If only there had been more time...
Seeing George's and Clapton's dueling guitar leads is priceless. And yes, this is one of George's best songs.
I love this song and this performance so much. What a talent George was.
How can you have George Harrison, Ringo Star, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynn, Phil Collins, Mark Long, Ray Cooper all on the stage at the one time playing/singing one of the great songs ever...? Bloody insane..!!!
This lineup is so insane that I don't even mind that you forgot Elton John :D
@@rupertnikolson2729 Yes, apologies, an oversight on my part. Although never was a fan of Reg, I think it all went down hill after his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album. Just my opinion though...
@@LJW55 I am not that much of a fan either. But you simply cannot deny that he is a legend

George was always my favorite Beatle (and I loved them all), and he’s one of my favorite guitarists ever. Very underrated in my opinion. Man…he could bring it!
Thought I was the only one
A very private humble man so much musical talent 🎶
It's a shame the Beatles had to breakup for everyone to find out that George was really talented.

Wow watching how much Clapton was loving playing with Harrison, all were super musicians , a few still are .
2024 here. Love 💕 😀
Clapton, Phil Collins, Starr, and Harrison with intro by Elton John. Big Stars of the day.
A bazillion dollar band! And my favorite Beatle. Life is good!! But we miss you George. You were taken way too soon.
BirdYoumans Great comments & I totally agree with you.
Being such a fan of George Harrison, have you seen the video of him & Eric Clapton at the 1971 Concert For Bangladesh? If not, check it out, it's superb!!

It's normal to want to cry when watching this beautiful concert, just talent on stage!
These great artists pay tribute to George and Ringo.
Amazing!!
Hi Jaime😂😂😂😂, how are you Doing
Increedible. Clapton plays a so perfect solo and we can see the intensity in Ringo and George, playing this legendary part of their youth.
, Yep, however my eyes tried to catch a bass of the inimitable Mark King! A real the constellation of geniuses
Eric Clapton is one of the best guitarists in the world.
I think George is the only player to whom Eric looks with pleasure, joy, happiness, respect. It’s all written on his face. Bless them both.
Check out the album "Riding with the King" with EC and BB King.
Quite remarkable ....... considering the 'history' between them?

There's great admiration for Steve Winwood too, when they play together.

So so Awesome 😎
It sure did! They were awesome together!
And the history between them - Clapton stole his wife 😱
Cannot stand Eric C, very insincere friend to George . X
When you see legends as Elton John, Phil Collins, Ray Cooper, Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne etc. are accompany to just two men on stage, you know definetly - these two are THE GODS
And there were four.

So grateful to be of the generation blessed by the talent of these musical geniuses
One of the absolute best live performances of this tune with its mesmerizing cascade of instruments and spot-on vocals.
Also a rare occasion where we get to see and hear George playing sections of lead guitar, with good pal Eric encouraging him on.
Listening to this in November 2024…
My dad and uncle introduced me to this song through the Concert for Bangladesh videos. Seeing Clapton, Harrison, Starr, and more collaborate on a track is something that is so foreign in today’s music scene. I cherish this era and am grateful that these videos at least exist and am hopeful for a renaissance of this.
The trading guitar solo’s between Eric and George at the end are beautifully epic....alway R.I.P the great George Harrison....🙏🏻🎸
