My husband has 4 other siblings, 2 of them are medical doctors, 1 is a civil engineer, 1 is a nurse in the US and my husband, the youngest of them all is computer scientist. I know a lot of other Nigerian families in the US and the UK that are quite similar in outlook when it comes to education and business, they go hard. Their work ethics is so scary if you don't understand them. @@africanandproud6792 Imagine what? It's done in progressive countries where graduate students admitted are offered fellowship (i.e scholarship) in return for research studies they will do under a professor. The students also offer a graduate teaching service in return. So, it's not really free. As a Nigerian, I completed a PhD in Canada through similar avenue. It's only peculiar to science and engineering degrees. And mind you, there used to be days when a lot of Africans including South Africans got scholarships to study in Nigeria when the educational system was sound. That was during apartheid years like in 60s to 80s and early 1990s. So, no need to imagine anything. It's a scholarship you have to work for. Universities need the best minds to do research and it doesn't matter where they come from. And it's highly competitive. No joke. A Nigerian lady I use to mentor back in Nigeria currently study at one of the best institutions in the world in her area of study that is located in Germany. Of course, we are hoping such individuals remain in Africa, like the gentleman in the video. Or would you rather have in succeed outside Africa?

And there are many of us who are ready to do anything legally to make it even here in Nigeria without following the trend. I am ibo Nigerian and I always remember that in my village there is this adage that goes "He who walks ahead of his godly guardian ends up running the race of his life" which is detrimental. The few bad eggs has built that stereotypes for Nigerians in South Africa And our media is not helping, they peddle bad news more often than good deeds because it sells and people always want to have something to talk about. I love what my brother said, "Put the goal in front of you. Do not look at the Challenge".
We sometimes focus so much on the challenge it creates a mental block which is a setup for failure.
