I spent a lovely day here in July of 2023. I’ve been wanting to come since I was a kid. This town is where my predecessors came from, sailing to the USA in 1730. At 78, I can only hope to make a return trip some day. Keep up the great walks.
A terrific little film. I have so many incredible memories of this place. I holidayed here with my family down the coast as Aberdesach until my final holiday here when I was 19 with my then fiancee. What memories I have of us and our hilarious Jack Russell, Rosie! The town is much the same (I am
2) 55 now) but has been slightly spruced up. It is still lovely and just watching this film makes me recall the perfumes I wore then. Well done. You caught the essence of this place and it was a real pleasure to watch.
It is magnificent isn’t it . Beautiful lovely little town too . Some lovely shots of the castle on here I love North wales such a lot to explore. Lovely film

Bridge Keeper Lodge in Caernarfon, Wales This bridge keeper’s lodge is the first thing you encounter after crossing the Aber Swing Bridge from Caernarfon’s center. The Aber Ferry House was constructed in 1822.
When I was a teenager my father bought a boat from a guy who ran a fish and chip shop in nearby Waunfawr, We moored it in the harbour in front of the castle and over time came to know every boat name and many of the owners. When exiting on a transatlantic voyage somewhere, we had to toot the horn with one long blast followed by two short ones so that the bridge operator would come out of the little house (shown at the start) and open the swing bridge. The balcony you refer to at 13:54 - I have a picture of Charles and Diana standing there waving at the crowds on the occasion of his first visit to Wales with his [new] wife. She was wearing red on that day too! She was beautiful.
@@GimbalWalkTV I forgot another little gem - we watched Bucks Fizz win the Eurovision Song Contest on a black and white portable TV hooked up to a 12v car battery whilst sleeping on the boat moored there against the harbour wall.
Really appreciate this. Going to stay in Caernarfon next year hopefully. Have been before a long long time ago in my youth--1988. Thanks for all your vids, very entertaining and keep up the good work. :):)

All three castles, Caernarfon, Conwy and Beaumaris were commissioned by Edward 1 and built by Master James of St.George. Caernarfon was modelled on the walls of Constantinople.

At the beginning of the video you panned towards The Anglesey pub. Just beyond the pub, within the town wall was the gallows, last used in 1910 to hang William Murphy for murder. As you walked up Castle Ditch, the building to your left with the great big stone pillars were once the Crown court building and jail.
Nice one. I was born and bred here before moving to London with my parents. Happiest childhood ever! If you were born in the town, you could go into the castle for free. Imagine having a castle to play in with your mates!? The tiny building in the side of the wall with the footbridge overhead is actually a Greek orthodox church! Excellent informative production showing Caernarfon. I like your style which makes the area you are visiting the star of the show and not the person behind the camera. I've seen Caernarfon written 17 times in this video, not one time correctly. The walking tour was interesting. I see a lot of changes in the royal town since last I was there in 2001. Thanks for the memories, but edit your written commentary a bit better, I suggest.

I feel something very strong from this castle ! I can feel it meant a lot to the Welsh people !💜💜💜

Well, yes it did mean a lot to the Welsh. Back in the 13th century, it meant the subjugation of the Welsh by the Norman kings of England.
