The village of Portmeirion was designed and built by the Welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975. The result was Portmeirion, a village that is known for its beautiful and unusual architecture.

Overall, Portmeirion is a unique and beautiful village that offers something for everyone. Its Mediterranean-style architecture, beautiful surroundings, and range of attractions and activities make it a popular destination for tourists and visitors.
The last time we visited Portmeirion in North Wales it proved so popular that our viewers and subscribers asked us to revisit Wales and film the village again so here we are and we're so glad we did because this tourist attraction is just fantastic!
You can visit for the day and wander round the village and gardens or even stay here in the Portmeirion Hotel if you prefer - and there's plenty to explore here in this famous tourist destination.
The village of Portmeirion was also the filming location for the Patrick McGoohan tv show The Prisoner with many scenes being filmed in and around the village and it's buildings, beach and gardens.
Amongst the things to visit here are The Village, The Gardens and The Estuary and Beach. You can pay on the day or book tickets in advance for your visit.
You also may recognise the giant chessboard in the central piazza that's seen in so many photographs of Portmeirion over the years.
Other parts of Portmeirion Vilage include the Town Hall, Salutation Square, Battery Square and Campanile, Clifftop and Chantry Row, The Hotel and Quayside and the beautiful woodlands - all here for you to visit and explore!

Me and the wife got married here 5 yrs ago. Our favourite place
Been there hundreds of times, but never get fed up seeing it, hence enjoying your walk now.
Lovely isn’t it
How absolutely glorious! What a day for it.
Thank you so much for the video. I went last spring on a whim. Me and the missus had a long weekend in Barmouth, and we went up to Porthmadog and while having breakfast we were discussing what to do. I looked online and said Portmerion is near. ..she said its a bit pricey...I said what the hell let's go as I'd always wanted to go. Forget the price...we were there 6/7 hrs and didn't do everything and it rained, but we didn't care. I fell in love with the place and I can't wait till probably April when I go back...as yes I'm going back. Its so unique and beautiful. You don't just have the village you have the gardens too with trees from around the world. Sorry for long comment, just love the place
Fully agree - amazing place and so glad you went too!
@@GimbalWalkTV great videos...and you actually answer comments cos some don't. Keep the filming going..your doing a great job. Actually the government should be paying you for promoting the uk

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excellent video very well photographed, just what I wanted to see of this magical place thank you baz.
Thank you so much
Such a creative man. Mighty impressive what he did with the Stone Boat Amis Reunis, an absolute work of art.
Wow what a beautiful place, I've watched The Prisoner a few times now and recognise a few buildings and things from it, thanks for this
You’re welcome - fab isn’t it!
I can’t wait to go back
What do you think of Portmeirion? Is it somewhere you'd like to go?
I visited around 5 weeks ago after your first tour. There just is no other place like that anywhere.
Agreed! Amazing place for a wander
Gorgeous..always wanted to go
Was there about 5 years ago wonderful place spent a great day there
Definitely - lovely place
This is incredible! I'm at the age where I watched "The Prisoner" series when it first aired. I've been intrigued by Portmeirion ever since and as a result, I've watched countless videos on the place. This is by far the best I've seen! It didn't hurt that you had a perfect beautiful day, but what a fabulous job! Thank you so much for filming and posting. 😎
Thank you so much
It’s a magical place for sure
Top quality video on a perfect day. Nice work. Glad you didn't show the whole village. Left few surprises to be found. I've been there loads of time and it never ceases to be magical.
I was very little when the series was on..but even my parents hadn't a clue but it was fasinating x
A unique and incredible location; and for us fans of The prisoner - sheer Heaven!
Not many film sets you can explore like this one eh!

The Doctor Who production team shot there back in 1976 to make the story The Masque of Mandragora starring Tom Baker and Lis Sladen.

Hello Neil what a beautiful place very interested vidio I use to watch the prisoner a long time ago I have never been there I think that the fairest I have been to is Rhyl and coyal win bay and cornway castle lol best wishes stay safe xx
Thanks Lynn!
I love those places you mentioned - I'll film them for you soon x
surprising and stunning place
👍👍
Hi, I thought it was free from the beach
Good question not sure but there’s no entrance from the beach to charge you so yeah
Next year we are going to do this
It’s really great to explore
I'm guessing the swimming pool is for hotel guests only?
I have a question: Can anyone tell me the best way to get to the village from Liverpool without a car?
You may struggle with this one - it's so far out of the way
If you can find a train to the local train station called Minfordd, you could probably get a taxi from there to the Portmeirion car park, which would be the quickest way. The car park is quite a way in from the entrance.
Looks like Greece
,,where am i?!´´
WHERES THE MINI MOKE TAXIS ? 😁
😮😮🤣
@@GimbalWalkTV Yes, where are they? No more excursions around the Village in them?
I think they are now only for the use of hotel guests, which is a shame...
We went down here in June this year great place to visit
Another great & fantastic video PORTMEIRION VILLAGE, North Wales | A brand new full tour of this amazing village!❤❤🧡🧡💛💛💚💚💙💙💜💜🤎🤎
Many thanks
I spent 2 nights above the book store. So majical when all the tourists left at the end of the day. Wandering around in the dark.... What fun!
Love this place and stayed there many, many times. However, no private homes, the Village buildings are all hotel suites and self catering apartments
A wee bit of Heaven on Earth. I imagine Heaven to be like this. Only more grandiose with lots of angels all around to guide you.
The Prisoner and Portmerion largely framed my early formative years and has been my moral compass for decades . I returned this weekend and noted the now extensive use of Prisoner related subjects from the signs and the numerous references to Patrick McGoohan all round the village , I found myself with a lump in my throat and overcome with emotion inside the Prisoner shop . That said , the village is just superb with attention to detail absolutely staggering . I love the place .....and I almost hate the place ! Its part of my very building block of my own humanity . McGoohan may have now escaped the village but we havnt , I havnt . Do I want to even try ?
What an excellent film. Well done and thank you for showing it. I love the place too. I first paddled across in 1976 and almost got swept away to sea....I am now going to check out more of your films.
When was this filmed please? Super pictures as usual but different to when I visited in late spring 2022!
Just a couple of months ago :)
Loved the cornwall collection....any chance of devon medley....and M?
FInd the excellent XTC track "The Man who sailed around his Soul" filmed at Portmeirion... on sergeant's channel
Beautiful but to much noise
Ok
It’s nice to see the iconic “green dome” from the tv series is green again - it was black for many years when I was able to visit. Thank you so much for sharing - this is my favourite place.
Fun fact: Rover is now used on guests trying to skip out on the bill.
Love this video! What a gorgeous place. One question …. are dogs not allowed? I realized I didn’t see any.
Good question - not sure
Didn’t notice any signs
On the website it says only guide or assistance dogs are allowed.
Not visited here for many years, it seems to have been tidied up a lot but not spoiled 👍. As well as the no dogs rule I'd also make a no screaming kids rule. Why do children have to scream? And why don't their parents tell them that screaming is for emergencies only.
Its called excitement that's all the children or letting out! Ovisly you've never had that exsperans! As for the dogs pooing! Its nothing to comper with the amount of mess WE HUMANS do on a day-to-day basis! Dus THAT mean humanity should be banned from theses places?.
@@philltaylor8442 Now there's an idea 🤔. (by the way I didn't mention anything about 'dog poo', that's just your scatalogical extrapolation).
