Great video. I also took off the D-Tuna. That said I did use a DiMarzio Strap lock and have the reflectors on the way as well as adding a 1971d quarter. I also sanded the back of the neck and oiled as well as Bee's waxed it and cleaned the neck several times.
I ordered one of these back in mid December from Sweetwater and should be getting it soon. As for the bare wood in the bridge cavity, go to Walmart and buy some acrylic paint in the craft section and paint the inside of it that way. I’m not sure why they did some with and some without. Kinda weird! Great video thanks!
I ordered the 5150 hockey stick headstock version and plan to modify it after seeing how well I like it as is.I will want to put the eyehook strap buttons on it and repaint it to look and feel less glossy and possibly route out the pickup cavities to look more like the frankie you've got there and see if I cant get it to get the slight bridge pickup angle on it.The bigger block for the Floyd rose from evh might be added depending on what they include with the one I get.The cigarette burns aren't really necessary for me because though I do chain smoke like Eddie I don't get burn marks all over the place like I did back in the day when I was smoking and drinking!
Hi mate, some good ideas there, i had to rub down the fret board a bit to take off some of the dirty look as it was a bit too dirty. I've made a few video's playing mine if you want to take a look. Cheers man.
Some people probably think it's sacrilege, but hooking up the front pickup is doable and reversible. I added a 5 way superstrat switch to mine through the existing cutout in the pickguard and now have 5 very usable tones. To take it back stock I need only remove the switch and stick a piece of metal foil tape over the 5 way switch slot. I also doubt many people will do this but it adds quite a bit of variety.
Awesome man, I also modded mine from the same pics. Kudos on the sticker goo over the broken reflector. It looks legit like mine. I will say that I found it interesting that you found clever ways to "safely" mod your guitar. I am on the other side of the coin (a 1971 quarter -lol) I've burned, carved, drawn, drilled, painted, sanded, scuffed, scratched & taped mine to look almost just like the original. Only thing is now I can't figure out if it is now appreciated or depreciated in value. I have tortured this poor guitar beyond belief & had a great time doing it! Eddie would have wanted it that way;) I hate the super dark fretboard/neck on these. I sanded the back of mine down to a lighter color & hit the front of the fretboard with an emery board fingernail file to give it a road worn look. Now you just need to get the blue paint & the cig burns into the headstock goin!
Do you have any tips on getting that broken reflector sticky stuff on the back to look like that? I've got my reflector kit and am still waiting for the guitar. Just want to make sure I do it correctly. Yours looks great!
I cut it with a Dremel just enough but not through the sticky part. Then slowly and carefully pull the broken part off on a angle leaving the sticky part intact .then lay it down and then you can manipulate the sticky part.
The gaffers tape he used won’t pull the paint off. On the 5150it pulled off the paint because it didn’t have a finish and the paint was super thin, 1 coat, that guitar had a finish so don’t worry, gaffers tape is made to not hurt paint, so that’s why Eddie used it for so long
I got rid of the masking and used white duct tape now with clear plastic stuck under it so it does not touch the paint and 3 small pieces of 3m gray tape to hold it on ,works and looks great now.
Why is this video in the wrong orientation? Edward wasn’t a left-handed player?
Long live the king of rock guitarists. You will be missed Eddie. Thx for the video
Thanks buddy he was the King for sure

Don’t feel bad buddy , mine is Mindt prime time in every way but I have the same thing on the back where it’s not painted

@@nitrokyosho Thanks and appreciate all the tips.
And it would be pointless for doing anything VH related because he hated the sound of shit singles... anyone who knows, knows better

@@nitrokyosho yeah one day if you aren’t as worried you can use it without the clear plastic, I’ve never had problems with paint peeling on mine.
Dude I watched a lot of your heli videos, had no idea you were an evh nut too, just like me! Love it!
Thanks for your support buddy and yes I loved Eddie he was awesome.
Does he ever play it?
Yes i play it its a great guitar
Nice guitar. 👍
So who owns the real frankenstrat now
Wolfgang his son owns it now and I would guess he would never part with it.
The white one the original one where is that at or what about the first one had he had when he was a boy where's that one at
The white and black one is the Frankstrat
He painted it red
*ussy, drill into the guitar like Ed did! Just kidding my man! Do what you want with your "Frankie"!
Ya Ed drilled because he had to, really would serve no purpose when the bridge stops where it should
