for #3, when you are a nurse, no matter the hospital you work for, you buy all your own scrubs, even the ones that are embroidered with the name of the hospital on them, an yes you have to pay for that also on top of the already expensive price of scrubs. You also buy any items you need like stethoscope and all that nice expensive medical stuff. Granted its all tax deductible, but you still pay for it upfront when you get hired and most hospitals in a city, unless they are all under the same management corporation, they all wear different color scrubs, so if you work at one hospital, and decide you want to go to a different one, you have to buy all new scrubs and then there are the ones that are under the same management corp, but they too make all the scrubs different for each hospital even though its now very common for them to supply t-shits for nurses to wear and they just make you buy the pants, but not all hospitals or managment corps do that sadly. The reason alot of times you see doctors all wear green scrubs and a white coat is so that if they change hospitals, they can just seamlessly go from hospital to hospital and not have to buy new scrubs.

Retired ICU and Cardiac RN here - hospital provided scrubs for any unit except the OR are not universal, and vary from one facility to another. What OP was doing (removing her uniform immediately after work and putting it immediately into the washer) is absolutely the right and responsible thing to do. The brother is an idiot, as health care professionals tend to build up an immunity to common infections organisms (obviously not covid yet, as it hasn't been around long enough) but if they don't remove their contaminated clothing, family members can be infected. OP was not only allowing these people to stay in her home for free, she was also conscientiously protecting them from pathogens they could have acquired had she worn the uniform through the rest of the house. If she had left a change of clothes in the laundry room, what's to prevent it from being contaminated when she removed her uniform in the same, probably small, room?

Absolutely agree. Where I worked, only Labor & Delivery provided scrubs for their nurses. We were given 2 pair of scrubs paid for by the hospital and any other ones we wanted we paid for (following the color scheme designated for our floor). I work in hospice now, and my company provides 2 scrub tops and we provide the rest. Unfortunately, we see our fair share of patients who have Covid or have had it at some point and it's still affecting them with the long-term effects. My scrubs hit the washing machine machine as soon as I walk in the door as they have since I became a nurse 24 yrs ago.

I worked an admin position (similar to HR) in a large hospital in a big city, and they did provide scrubs that were required to be removed and turned in at designated locations before they left each day. This was pre-C19, and they said it was to prevent outside germs/contaminants from coming in the hospital. I saw online that lots of people in medical facilities that didn't have this were instructed to do exactly what OP was doing during lockdown; in addition, many of the recommendations told them to also take a basic shower in the garage (if they had one). It seriously sounded like transition control points that we practiced in the military for a CBRN environment, not surprising since the reasons and risks are similar.

    • @shells500tutubo
      @shells500tutubo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

@@wanderer7956 We were given three pairs of scrubs for the OR, and had to "deposit" one pair at a time into what looked like a giant ATM machine. It tracked how many pairs were in there for you and how many were out. So you put in your code on the keypad and one pair was dispensed to you in a specified locker in the machine. If you had three pairs out you didn't get a new pair of scrubs until you put one pair back.
I think it was more to cut down on theft more than anything, but it is also a lot more sanitary.

I do in home healthcare. Most of us CNA's do the same. Strip at the door then go straight to shower and change into fresh clothes. Our work clothing gets treated like it's contaminated and goes straight into the laundry. No way I want to bring home anything my clients have.

The husband in the second story really did things right. Number one, he recognized what was happening and talked to his wife about it. Number 2, he didn't let it continue and he shut it down, even cutting contact with his sister when it didn't stop. Number 3, he suggested counseling before the whole situation could cause cracks to form in the relationship. That's how a grown-up man handles a situation like that.

Ex and Chantelle are not legally married, and neither is Ruby, since there was no valid signature from the bride on the license. If they live in a common law state they are probably still not legally married because they are still putting forth Chantelle as Ruby.
Furthermore, unfortunately, I don't think OP can recover financial damages from Chantelle beyond what is actually hers, because joint married property wouldn't apply either, so the ex really gets off scot free.

In my opinion both the twin sister and the ex-husband are both the villains of the story because clearly the husband traded in a cushy life of having to provide and not take care of his own children that he had with the twin sister and it didn't help with everything the twin sister did against the op also known as Ruby but I'm glad she got her life back I'm glad that she had one person to think in this whole entire thing that was able to fix this whole entire mess and on top of that if I were her I would go no contact with the family members that he would try to do anything about the situation

RN here - the availability of scrubs at work is dependent on the individual hospital and their policies. Surgery nurses - yep, they almost universally get the scrubs at the hospital and change back to their clothes at the end of the shift. But in other departments, it would not be an uncommon practice for the nurses to wear their scrubs into work and then wear them home. And it is commendable that the OP in your story was mindful enough to enter through the laundry room and change out of the scrubs immediately upon reaching home to prevent carrying all those germs in to the rest of her house. (I'd be hesitant to ride in her car after so many trips wearing the contaminated scrubs home while driving). Basic every day underwear cover a lot more than the bikinis that are commonly seen in public. Not to mention, just turn on the TV these days and you will be bombarded with TV ads for all manner of undergarments for both sexes. IMO, since the brother and his wife are basically living at OP's house free as a favor to them, then they can surely suck it up for the 1 minute (probably less than that long, actually) that OP takes to walk to her room to put on her clothes. Considering this is OP's routine and habit, and given the hellish hours nurses have to work these days, the brother and SIL can clutch their pearls in silence for however long they plan to stay with OP, or they can go stay with his parents, since they seem to be volunteering their house by siding with the brother in this matter. Problem solved!

For the last story, a little insight. My aunt is a nurse who also worked in the ICU, I was her childminder while studying for my masters in the UK. Anytime, she had any issues like OP, she would call and let me know so that I will stay in the room with her child. She would also ask me to make sure the washing machine was empty and to make sure there was disinfectant. I also helped her put the pods, so that once she comes home, she puts her scrubs in the machine and disinfects it after.
To answer that, Nurses in the UK are responsible for their scrubs. She does not even let me or her son near them, as she is always afraid that we would catch something.

Judging by his statement that he fell in love with her, because she "decided" to give up working, and become a stay-at-home wife and mother and allow him to provide, and then the fact that she WAS FORCED to quit working as a doctor, due to her HORRIBLE MEDICAL SCREW-UPS, HARMING PATIENTS, I think that the 'decision' to let him provide happened BEFORE the change.
She only continued to work as a doctor (until she couldn't), because they didn't think of saying, "OH! The vacation was SO TRAUMATIC! I can't WORK, due to the mental stress. I have to quit RIGHT NOW!" to protect the patients, because clearly, NEITHER ONE OF THEM GAVE A DAMN ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE!
So, yeah, I think he was in on it from the beginning, or at least from several months before the vacation. I think he KNEW that Chantelle would come back, as "Ruby," and then marry him, as THEY had planned (remember, Ruby was busy, so Chantelle took over planning the wedding, which was an excellent time to seduce the groom), and would stop working shortly thereafter. And since Chantelle WENT OUT OF HER WAY to ruin relationships with Ruby's friends and relatives, I think, now, that actively destroying her career, by HARMING PATIENTS, was actually part of the plan. She just wanted to watch Ruby's life BURN.
And Frank was in on it, simply because, "Now I'll be like a husband in the 50's, with a little woman at home, taking care of my offspring, and letting me be the Big Man Of the House, and making me FEEL GOOD."
He was just as eveil as she was.

He's going to either lie and say that Mother (Ruby) didn't want them anymore or that she stole her mother's life and she's now in prison in a foreign country for her crimes only to find out the truth of the situation later.
That would be quite a story recap and update to look forward to hearing about in the near future.

They wear their scrubs to and from home. They wash a load of scrubs everyday.

RN here. I live in Scandinavia and here at least you get the uniform at work, wear it for 1 day and immediately as your shift is over you dump it in the laundry sack in the changing room. When the sack is full its sent to a specialized cleaning facility. The uniform never leaves the hospital (worn). That anyone brings the uniform home is very foreign to me. I mean you drag all those bacteria with you and deposit them everywhere you go, risking contamination.

Let's not forget that A: Chloe KNEW he was a married man...and that didn't deter her, and B: husband told Chloe he wasn't interested and to back off...and she still pursued. Let's not act like the sister was making Chloe be a homewrecker. She already must have experience in that department since she was so eager.

The last story- if brother and sister in law are so uncomfortable they should just move out.

LAST STORY: This is her daily routine. They know when OP comes home she's going to strip in the laundry room. When they see her walk in, all they have to do is look away. The fact that they choose not to means they're intentionally stirring up this drama. OP: NTA

Last story :- OP's House, OP's rules. I think SIL and bro are total dipsticks! Do they honestly think they can order OP around in her own house? For Goodness sake , turn away from her, close your eyes, go to your bedroom till you know she is in her own b'room. OP has a hard enough time with her work and the stress alone must be just about killing her, so please, rellies, STOP. HOUNDING. HER. She doesn't need your stupidity at the end of the day! NTA, OP, and thank you for all your help, work and support to all of us, from all of us.

Story 1: It's tricky to decide which one is worse; they're both poops in the pot. Glad they finally got flushed down!

Yeah, back in the olden days, before I graduated from nursing school (52 years ago) when nurses were virginal and lived in nurses residences, you changed your clothes at the hospital. But it hasn't been that way for a long time at most hospitals. Unless the hospital provides your scrubs (unusual, too cheap) they don't launder them for the same reason, (too cheap). It would probably be a good thing for public health, but the scrubs would wear out really fast if done in hospital laundries.

My mom is a nurse. She comes home and washes her own uniforms.

At very least, she didn't have to put up with a doormat husband that might've cheated on her with her sister if her sister didn't do what she did. That strong woman now find a good companion in time, and make sure her idiot sister can't avoid her punishments she so richly deserves.
