Story One: It took OP waaay too long to block his rotten mother and sister!
Story Two: OP did right (for herself, her child and even her sister) by standing up for her daughter. While it's heartbreaking to suffer a miscarriage, this woman has completely destroyed her entire life b/c of it. Divorcing her husband b/c she can't bear to see him? Bullying a child? This woman's break with reality should have her family institutionalizing her and the mother condoning her behavior is really messed up!

my buddies daughter recorded how his sister, her aunt was treating the foster girl she had, 3 days later aunties in jail and the girls staying with them... sister went to prison eventually and the girl was close to aging out and was shocked my buddies family took her in and wouldnt just dump her like she was warned was the norm... she was even more shocked when she found out they wanted to adopt her when she graduated trade school... his kids were the ones that suggested it... she fit right in and became a true part of the family quickly... she had to be told to relax and stop worrying about always having stuff to do, she was quite beaten down by the women she spent 3 years with... and the 3 families before that... now... well... thats a long story... but shes now not just an adopted part of the family...

I'm thinking the same thing, too; not only should OP go complete NC with his mother and sister, he should also sell his apartment, plus, his house, move to another state, to start his life afresh, buy another house, and get another job therein, find group of friends who are good people, a therapist he can therapist, and a warm-hearted girl whose family will stand up for him, and treat him with love like she does, and make them his family. Story 1 = The sister is OP's half-sister not stepsister. If the mom and sister used the dad and sister's boyfriends as ATMs, then why is OP surprised that they would use him as an ATM?
Story 2 = Why do the people who are told NO get to have only their feelings validated? The reason is that they only care for themselves. Then their flying monkeys swoop in to say that OP should apologize to the person. The child was hurt by OP's sister's yelling. It is sad that the sister lost her baby, but the foster child lost her whole family and possible friends.

    • @JB-bb4su
      @JB-bb4su ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@maryshanley329 Family should support each other, yes.
However, there are exceptions when a family relationship becomes toxic.
If "supporting family" is tearing you down, then that is not a healthy situation.
Story 1's sis is not seeking support to improve herself or her situation. She's wanting OP to maintain her bad life choices, not get his support while trying to make better ones.
Story 2's sis is so consumed by her own pain that she's dangerous for the child to be around--at least emotionally speaking. By sis's own statements, she's already put her misery and pain ahead of the well-being of the child. OP's child shouldn't have to suffer because sis is suffering. So yes, the best solution is to separate them until sis is in a better emotional and mental state.
Misery loves company, but that doesn't make it healthy to spread that misery--especially to children.

I understand totally the dynamics of family life. Some can be incredibly cruel. It can be terribly difficult to love some relatives, but one must forgive. I was just trying to make a point that family should come first. However, compassion does have its limits. Misplaced compassion is another pitfall. It solves nothing.
I really agree with you. The situation in this family is not any good or rational.
But the door must be never be shut totally.
I just want to express to others the importance of family and support. Just keep on trying to be kind, but also have prudence.
Love can be a fine line.

Not the same situation, but I always hated it when my older half sisters introduced my younger siblings, and I asked step siblings to their friends when we would visit them. So I definitely latched on to the OP using that term. It could also be him creating distance in his mind, after all of the favoritism and selfishness, on his younger sister’s part. But, as I said, I was always hurt when I was called a stepsibling because all I wanted was for my older sisters to be my real siblings. We are close now, and I never asked them about it when we were growing up. Just figured it was easier to explain to people if you said step sibling versus half sibling and having to go into that family dynamic

Last story, OP thank you for taking up parenting and doing it well. Standing up for your daughter is exactly what should be done. I’m an RN, and I see too many abused kids in my ER. Your daughter will never be one of them! I also have been pregnant 8 times!! Every single one of them was wanted and hoped for, I miscarried all but three. I love my kids and would have loved any that I had. I would never now or in the future make someone else missable over my losses. Those lost pregnancy’s are sad, very sad and I cried for each of them. But I have three beautiful children, and feel lucky that I have them. Your sister is misplacing her anger and grief. She needs to see a therapist asap so that should she become pregnant and have a child in the future she is capable of loving them and caring for them. Not trying to imagine what the one she lost would be like. It’s healthy to grieve but its also healthy to hug kids and pet puppies. She needs some help, I hope she gets it.

Story 1: A clear case of yelling "ENOUGH" to the two toxic people in his life is more than warrant. He did his due, kept his promises, he owes no more. Mom is old enough and healthy enough to work, so is sister. I just feel bad for the baby having to grow up under those two, but I can only hope that they change by the time it becomes old enough to understand. Otherwise, I hope that like its uncles, it too will be smart enough to figure out its mother and grandmother have serious problems.
Story 2: A miscarriage is not an excuse to treat a little kid like that. OP's sister has lost the chance to be an aunt in that little girl's eyes by doing what she did and what she said. OP is being what a mother should be Irregardless of blood or DNA. NTA

OP in the first story has gone above and beyond any responsibilities owed to his mother and half sister. Wonder what would happen if he offered to buy HER an older but reliable pre-owned car.
Whether as an outright FINAL gift or even as a loaner. (OP's liability might be too onerous if the car stayed titled to him, unless he has a "lease" agreement drawn up & signed by both his mother and half-sister. But it would give him some leverage from additional emotional blackmail.) Pregnancy does not give someone automatic entitlement to the fruits of someone else's hard work. Has she even attempted to obtain child support from the child's father? Not wanting a child doesn't give him a free pass on supporting it.

Even if they weren't my kid and I was just babysitting or whatever, if someone did anything like that to the kid I was watching, they'd have to deal with my pure fury afterwards because who the hell treats a child like that, especially when they're literally just _existing._
Edit: "You're a monster for not thinking of her feelings" If Op is a monster for "hurting" the feelings of an _adult,_ then what does that make Kate, who hurt the feelings of a _child._

They’re both just mad that now that she’s gonna be a single mother and OP put his foot down they can no longer con men out of their money.

If you share the same biological mother or father, then that sibling/siblings would be a half sister or brother. But if your mother or father remarried and the new spouse had children from a previous relationship and shares no biological parent of yours then they would be a stepsister or stepbrother.

Title: Sister gets knocked out, Mother is pregnant? Sister got knocked up, Mother wants car? .. Yes I know it's meaning to say Sister gets knocked up and Mother demands car for sister. But honestly I like the alternate plots. Always a good listen.

Exactly. I see the future, when the mother looks at pics of OP celebrating his fresh start in his new state, his new job, and his new house in a beautiful neighborhood, pics of him at his wedding, and baby shower with his replacement family (his wife, their friends, his in-laws, and therapist), and pics of him with his wife and their new baby, not only wonder why he went full NC with her, but excluded her from those important events, and decided to include his father and brother, instead.⚠️

No matter whose child it is, children need to be well treated, to grow up healthy. Entitled behavior is not to be encouraged, but if you treat people well, you may be one of the few who improve their lives.

Where the hell is Mia's dad? It's his child! Why isn't he paying for her? He bought his mom an apartment, now he's paying everyone's bills and now wants his car. Does he mean she's his half sister because none of this sounds like a stepsister at all.. Where is her dad? OP needs to put his foot down and say NO PERIOD!! I am so sick and tired of people milking pregnancy.. 3 kids and I worked until I gave birth. Stress doesn't just automatically cause problems in pregnancy.. People work in fields, farming etc...

Story 1: I am no contact with my twin sister, 2 brothers and parents because of their behaviour towards me, my husband and children. My father died 2 years ago, I did not go to the funeral and I don't know where he's buried. Never shed a tear or felt sad. My family was extremely dysfunctional.
2nd story: My husband's nephew and his wife fostered and are adopting the child. When I found out, I sent the child birthday cards and presents, Christmas cards and presents and Easter eggs. No difference in the treatment of the children. Children are innocent and deserve to be included. I have 4 cousins who are adopted and were never treated differently.
