Dean Brown, 💐💐💐
A very nice and humble man and excellent musician , we miss you.
That drummer knows his shit! Great solos by all.
Dean Brown…R.I.P.
The drummer is wicked. Hats off to Frank Briggs.
All Major Hitters WOW Everyone is a Monster Player Incredible on Drums is the Fabulous Frank Briggs This Cat Got Chops and Groove.
Damn that’s some good bass playing
Awesome to see Jimmy Haslip still around after his days as the bass player with the Yellowjackets.
This is from 2013 (as it says in the video description).
This group definitely has it together…still love the cold blood version
Classic instrumental originally played by King Curtis under title "Patty Cake". Donny Hathaway wrote song and played piano on original recording, and, subsequently re-titled song "Valdez in the Country" on his own Extensions of a Man lp 1970. Hathaway played Wurlitzer electric piano on solo lp cut. Love this song.
thanks for the background info on the king curtis version!
Cold Blood did an excellent version back in the early 1970's.
@@martinartale1999 That one was the best--what a groove it had!
What an effing groove! Jimmy Haslip and Frank Briggs (exceptional drummer -- never heard of him before; what a pitty) are playing like one!
Awesome... Dean is such an excellent player...
They're all bloody good....
Oh, yes: an AWESOME drummer!!
He is NICE.
Muscianship in it's highest form!! Great song, one of my favorites since Cold Blood recorded it back in 1973😁
un excelente tema que sigue vigente hoy x hoy 🎉
Great work! Jimmy you’re awesome brother. Fantastic bass playing.
FRANK BRIGGS WHAT A LEGEND !! PLAYING YAMAHA RECORDING DRUMS AND LUDWIG SUPRAPHONIC SNARE, THE REAL PRO!! THAT PHRASE AT THE END OF HIS SOLO WAS AMAZING. DEAN BROWN IS ALWAYS KOOL AND HIS HAIR STYLE IS THE SAME AS MIKE STERN'S !!!!
Love this particular group. Great chemistry
The bass player is insane.
OUTSTANDING!
That drummer is off the wall sick!!!
I Love this and i can see how much Fun your haveing. Yes Yes Yes....

Easily the best drummer I never heard of.

I always loved this song by Donny Hathaway. What a band, and a great impromptu rendition. Fun tune indeed. Where has that drummer been?! Never heard of him, but he sure lays it down and his solo was nice too... all the solos are beautiful. Thank You!!
Love this entire series! Thank you.
oh man that groove!
Des musiciens qui maîtrisent magnifiquement leur art. Leur session est très agréable tout en étant très technique. Bravo !!
A cool tune...RIP Donnie!
Músicos de altíssimo nível.Maravilha de se ouvir e ver tanto aprimoramento.
I'm partial to guitar work...but the keys in this video were soooooo smooth!!!!
Love it!!
Sounds good fella's!
Oh yes this is a very fine job on Donny Hathaways monster piece ! These guy's nail it ! Frank Briggs is bad to the bone !
joli!!!
Grandi!!! Jimmy Haslip is the Best!!! Bass man with Gino Vannelli, Yellow Jackets, Jeff Lorber, more...ciaooooo
Mr. Haslip is a bad man.....Great groove and tone. His Roscoe sounds great through that low-budget Peavey amp.
awesome
Nice!
Christopher Walken on keys! Cool!
Other versions to check, Lee Ritenour, George Benson.
Wow!
Dean...we played it together my friend. Playing it in a Crusaders tribute band on April 6th
Galaxy EP sound
"Steve Nash's" hair got a bit more gray! (Marcus Miller calls him Steve Nash!) But Dean Brown is a Hall of Fame beast on guitar....!
i heard 3 renditions and NONE WILL EVER SOUND AS GOOD AS COLD BLOOD THE FIRST TO RECORD IT.
You are so right!
absolutely correct. I bought the COLD BLOOD album in the 70's and still have it.
Terrance Martin kills it
Word
Cool line-up. Philippe Saisse from Chic & Steve Winwood.
and Al di Meola
Sweet jam. Now, the bass strings are inverted... WHA??? That is wild!
I love those Istanbul cymbals which ones is the drummer playing
Bassman is like Steve Albini from another dimension
Was this not originally recorded by Cold Blood, or Joy of Cooking, or was it Malo? WHAT a beautiful time on this planet :)
Love to know what keyboard is played on the solo around 6:20? Sounds a bit faster attack than a Rhodes. Can't see but the ends of keys. Very fine playing this whole band. The drummer's phenomenal.
It's a good old Rhodes with the stereo pan turned up :-)
No one's gonna say anything about the bassist's strings being upside down??
Jimmy Haslip!
How do you know when a drummer is doin' a kick *ss job...he turns to black and white!
why is he playing inverted strings on the bass
´Like it! The original tempo is a slighty faster!
2:22pm
there's too much groove...im enjoying so much... hoo!!
Keyboarder is a "Studio Crack" anyway !
Easily the best drummer I never heard of.
Stephen Griffin Frank has some great books to learn from and a great dvd.
Check out Eric Moore (he’s all over TH-cam). From Stockton California….then check out Will Kennedy with Yellowjackets
