I have two Brake Free lights. Love them. One bug for me is not knowing for certain if it's working or not. Otherwise I'm a happy
camper. Also, it works better if you remember to turn it on before you put your helmet on.

To your point. Had you thought that through? You don’t know whether your brake/tail lights are operating either. Unless you ask someone. The correct verification process is, as you stated. Verify before putting your helmet on.

Few days after my post I changed position of bike before leaving for work. Facing rear of bike toward my living room windows fixed issue. Before that rear of bike faced folks next door. Easy to check tail, brake, and turn signals. Thanks for the help.

I've been riding g since I was 15, I'm now 70. In all that time I've only experienced one flat while riding. I had a 2008 Kawasaki KLR 650 and as I pulled away from a right hand turn at an intersection the FRONT tire suddenly flat! I was only going about 10 mph and was able to pull safely to the shoulder with no incident! LARGE cut in the center of the tread caused the flat.

I've had one on my Shoei Neotech for well over a year. Absolutely love it. I dealt with the less-than-perfect fit on the Shoei by putting four small rubber bumpers, one on each corner. Like the littel ones that go on kitchen cabinet doors. Got them at Home Depot. It works abolutely perfectly. Just a touch of compression when I snap it on. No rattles.

I have had my Brake Free for a two years now and it has worked consistently. I like to run it in the third mode.
It only flashes on deceleration and braking. I would highly recommend it.

Cruiseman, I bought the Brake Free light after seeing it on your channel. I like it a lot but I suggested to them that they include 2 mounting brackets. I had to buy a pair, that's the way the sold them, so I could put one on my wife's helmet when we're 2 up. I just take it off of my helmet, snap it on hers so it will be seen from behind, and away we go. But I really think the 2nd bracket should be included initially. Guys following me say they rarely see it light up. I have to hit something , ie brakes or throttle, a little harder than I normally do to make it light up. So I wish it was a little more sensitive. But I like it a lot and I'm glad I saw it here and glad I bought it. Fits my HJC helmet nicely.

It works best when engine braking, when you're not applying your brakes. I bought mine at the motorcycle show about a year and a half ago.

I purchased a pair of the brake free units during the kickstarter campaign. One for my wife and I. They have been flawless and battery life is excellent two years on. I purchased extra mounts to use on my half shell and one for my daughter's helmet when we're two-up. More than once I have had vehicles pull up next to me at a traffic light and tell me the brake free was the only thing they saw to alert them I was stopping. I'd highly recommend the brake free to anyone.

Just got mine (white) a week or so ago, and a few days ago I decided to put my bike in an attended garage. The attendant immediately called out that he had seen me around town several times and was very curios. I live in a fairly sized city, and ride all over and also outside, but not more than about half an hour a day - so I see the fact that the garage attendant had noticed me not once, but several times, as a huge testament of how visible it is.

This past summer, I had my front tire valve stem fail. At highway speed, I went front full air to completely flat in about 7 seconds. Handle bars started shimming, so I began to slow and by the time I got the bike speed down, I was pressing into the bars and hanging on for dear life. Didn't dump the bike, but it was scary. Front tire failure is not something I want to experience again.

I had a flat on the front on my ‘84 1100 LTD Kawasaki back in 87. Very scary, the back end wanted so bad to come to the front but I was able to hold it. That’s one time in 44 years, so I think you have a point.

75 mph on I-12 in Louisiana. Front tire went flat. I mean 0 PSI , riding two up. We were about to exit anyway when it happened. This was on my old 06 Wing. It felt like the front end sagged a little then a very intense wobble. The handlebar grips were probably moving an inch and a half. Doesn’t sound like much but it felt like the front end was coming apart. I got the bike slowed down, got off the highway and into a gas station. The hole was so big that a single plug was pushed out when I put air into the tire. I used two plugs and rode the 3 miles home.
While it was pretty scary, I was amazed by how well the bike handled. Riding two up I’m sure we were around 1300 lbs. and I never felt like I was going to lose control.
    Enjoy your channel very much.
    Keep up the good work,
    Charlie

I bought my Break Free light shortly after your first video, I do a lot of engine braking so this was a no brainier. Not sure if it's saved my a$$, but anything to increase my visibility to distracted drivers is worth the investment. And the ability to swap it between multiple helmets is great!

Way back in 1979 I was riding my honda dream 305 and it was my first road bike. I was riding it and got a front flat tire and it scared the crap out of me and luckily I was only going 35 miles an hour and was able to handle the bike ! It was a blowout and we didn't have cellphones then and one of my friends house was down the street luckily. But that is all I can remember since it was 43 years ago. Later Hades from coastal NC

Regarding battery life. Their website lists the battery chemistry as common 18650 Lithium-Ion. As we are all aware this is a perishable product from date of manufacture. So several years later the stated capacity will be quite diminished. This is just the nature of Lithium-Ion. Last time I looked into it 20% loss of max capacity per year is to be expected. If it is user replaceable then no problem of course.

I bought my unit after seeing your first video. Can't say if it has saved me from being rear ended but I feel it helps in rush hour traffic. Regarding the charging port, I'd be happy if they used the Apple connector as all our technology in the family is Apple, so we have lots of lightning to USB leads at home.

They have come out with a white version which looks much better on a white helmet than the black version...but it seems they are always sold out of the white versions. I've been following the Brake Free since it was first on that investor website about 4 years ago or so..it kept getting delayed and delayed and honestly I thought those that invested in were going to lose their money...but so glad they made it to the market...going to buy the white version when it's available.

      @BrakeFree 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The white version is on order and in production. Should be here in 2-3 months. It's been a long journey, but there was no way we were going to leave our early backers hanging. Took a lot to get it to market, but we're glad we got it across the finish line too!

    Good day Cruiseman!
As a motorcycle instructor I am like you an I promote safety. Brake free is great but does not work on all helmet's brand and shape. I have been wearing Nolan helmet for the past 10 years. They offer a similar system prioritary to Nolan helmet only because the rechargeable battery fit directly under the bright red light but inside the helmet. So here's an other option for smaller round head rider. Ride Safe Always!

Wanted to use the device but Ihave a Shark Helmet. Love the helmet as it has the ability to flip the chin guard 180 degees to the rear. This has been a god send to have that flexibility especially on several thousand Mike tours. However the rear space on the helmet with the chin guard flipped to the rear limits the space to 3 inches where the this unit would be mounted.
Perhaps they might downsize but doubt it.
