    I’m in my 71st year now and ever since I was a young boy I have loved model planes. I can sit and watch these videos for hours rather than the rubbish on TV today. I started a Nano Talon build with the Matek F405 Wing a couple of months ago and am almost ready for its maiden flight. Wish me well. 🙄. It’s people like you that inspired me to have a go. Never too late eh?

    Seems to fly quite similar my Phoenix 2000. Feels slow and lazy when manoeuvring around with plenty of adverse yaw, but absolutely comes alive when in a thermal and will readily disappear from view in short order. Gotta love those blow modded fuselages too. Nice vid👍

  • @berkie5569
    @berkie5569 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love this plane! But then I'm biased. All year so far I have been trying to get a sister ship a Volantex ASW28 to fly properly with no success plus nothing but trouble (mainly my fault) with 2 Parrot Disco drones. So wow! This one is just so easy to fly. Firstly the build, compared to the ASW28 it is miles ahead. The canopy is the best I have seen in 18 years in the hobby. Snaps on, snaps off. Nice hinges fitted to ailerons and flaps. Good God that's unheared of. Blow moulded fuse - great. Foam just doesn't compare. It can survive a hard nose in without a dent. With foam you will spend 10 mins picking up all the bits (don't ask me how I know that).
    And flying? Just love the way it floats so well. I'm sure it could thermal on a camel fart and slope in a faint breeze over a 5mtr sand dune! . Tomorrow there's a 30k Sou Wester at Flinders Golf course so won't even use any mah for that. Batteries? Hate li pos, so will go for 3S1P Li oN, 4800mah, 30A cont. as they are lighter, cheaper, smaller than Li po as well as lasting a lot longer

    Anyone else noticed that the rudder is pretty ineffective even though it seems large enough and seems to move a decent amount. Just kicks the tail out momentarily and then very very slowly turns. Very little authority. Yet the elevator is the opposite, very pitchy.

    I've just ordered this plane, do you know what the o.d of the fuselage spars are and approx length please, I want to order carbon fiber tubes to replace them with for extra weight saving and also it will add extra stiffness although that's not my main reason for doing it.
    The other thing I'm interested in is if the motor plate has standard offsets for the bolts, I've bought the kit version and now need to look at motors.
    Won't be using a folding prop with this as I don't ever intend on using is as a glider, I've bought it for a long range/ high altitude fpv platform and will be under power the whole time and so drag is not an issue.
    I see you have used a 2200mah 3s, I've heard others say the recommended 2200 3s is wildly underweight, have you got all your electronics far forward?
    I'll just make sure everything is far back if needs be, I intend on running packs between 4000 and 8000mah!

    I'm another geezer (65) who has taken up this hobby late in life. I spent the winter practicing on a simulator and have also gotten some experience with a small, cheap glider that came with its' own transmitter. I was looking for a slow glider that could carry a camera and take advantage of the lift provided by the large, steep hill I live on as well as stay up in the air a decent amount of time. I ordered this one from Banggood in February but it has yet to be delivered. "Languid" may sound like criticism for some but that is what appeals to me. You seemed to like this plane in this review but later said you did not find it appealing. Was there something better I could have bought for $140 delivered? What is your impression of the Night Radian? Would the Radian XL have served my purposes? I have spent hours watching reviews like this one and consider yours to be the best.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dont worry, it will suit your needs perfectly. Great camera carrier and slope glider. My reservations were more about thermal gliding, where the Radians and Phoenix 2000 are more suited. It's still an awesome glider for the money.
