A lovely video as always Stefan. Small question. In stead of the radio down by the pedestal why not put it where the transponder sits so that it’s easier to change the frequency. Will be in touch. Steve
Congratulations to you all! I’ve also got a couple of questions about the LS3, first is why didn’t you bring the Larus variometer? And second, is your trailer for the LS3 a specific kind of trailer? I’ve seen a cobra for an LS6 that needed some cuts to make the wings fit because they’re taller at the root.
The Larus Dual GNSS version is installed in my LS3 and it's connected to the SteFly Nav 70, which displays the vario gauge and outputs the vario sound. Yes, it's not so easy to find a trailer for the LS3. I was very fortunate to find a higher Cobra trailer, which works well for my LS3. I have also seen some modifications of the trailer at the wing root, which worked aswell.
To keep them cool. A white surface reflects most light, I.e. energy, thus heating up least. The resins used in glider construction are certified up to 50C. To keep them at or below that temp even in desert and tropical environments like Namibia or here Australia the manufacturers mandate white paint. Just very recently new resins allow higher operating temperatures. You can factory order some gliders in colors other than white mostly in red as to alert others in alpine environments with bright white snow backgrounds
Danke Dir!
as a poor mexican man in his early 40's from 3rd wolrd, I admire and envy how wealthy young men from 1st world enjoy their hobbies in their leisure time/vacations
I'm sure there's glider pilots from Mexico too. And there's a lot of poor people here in Germany too. 1st world, 3rd world, what's 2nd world actually? These are just words, made up by humans. Nobody can decide their birthplace. A young lad from Germany, in a glider club running a yt channel. C'mon, that's the wrong target to be bitter about. But I feel you. Just know, there's many like you over here too.
Mexico is not a 3rd world country, dude! A few African countries & Papua New Guinea would be what you're talking about. You live in the Americas, and as such, you can build your life as you see fit & it can all be acquired by seeing what you want and working towards that dream & not throwing resources away on daily whims, but saving & investing! You are made in the image of Almighty God & have no limits💪😎👍
I watch with the sound off while you are soaring....and use CC...that dang Beep beep beep beep drives me crazy...can't a person soar by the seat of their pants ?...lol..
Must have been like flying in a late 70's early 80's 15m comp - seems you need an older 15m class glider these days to win, gone are the days of the first generation Standard Class gliders winning the Club Class. Thanks to the rich boys at the FAI helping to slowly kill of the sport my making it one more difficult for anyone that is not rich and privileged to compete. Whatever happened to getting rid of the stupid 'team flying' and having one pilot per class so that poorer nations can compete as well? Too much vested interest and influence by rich wealthy western European countries who can afford to send mega large teams? It needs to end, the World Gliding Champions are a mockery of their former self.......................
Very nice film again Stefan! And congrats to your 3rd place!
Congratulations Stefan! A nice podium finish to go with a great video :D
nice flying Stefan, congratulations !
Thank you!
Congrats, Stefan for you 3. Place. As always very nice pictures. Fly safe in 2024.👍😊🇫🇷
I'm glad you did so well in Australia, Stefan. 👍
I would have liked to come over and meet you, but Narromine is more than 1000km from where I live!
Thanks Johan! Yes, Australia is huge ;)
Excellent soaring! Glad you did so well, what a beautiful sailplane you own. Enjoy your soaring , it will be with you for years! Congrats!
Congratulations Stefan!
Gratulation, Stefan zu Deinem 3. Platz der WM mit Deiner LS3. Toll gemacht. Respekt. Und - schöner Film wieder mal. Danke.
Danke für das Lob!
Well done Stef, congrats! 👍
Congrats, Stefan! :-)
Sweet! Looks like so much fun.
awesome video... congrats on your 3d place. Spectacular video.
Big congrats!!
Great job man!!!
Congrats!!!
Best of luck.be safe. ❤️
Felititation Stefan.👍

Hi Steven, the open cutout is a placeholder for the Larus vario display prototype. That’s why I‘m lazy to change it.
Congratulations
Congrats!
Keep up the good work... You'll see what you get out of it... for example, a bigger shelf for all the trophies and awards 😀
🥳🎉
Hahaa thank you! I already have enough trophies at home, perhaps I should retire from comp flying? 😂

13.49.... take us to warp speed Mr. Langer 🚀
Great job!
👏👏Congrats from India / Bharat 🇮🇳 Very inspiring
Thank you :)
Congratulations. I have a dumb question. When you put the ball hitch on sideways, won't it prevent you from turning on all but the slightest of turns?
Well done Stef. I see an altimeter is an over rated instrument... who needs one right?
I have a certified digital altimeter installed. The Air Control Display from Air Avionics, which is also the remote control for my transponder.
Top Work!
Thanks!
Geht mir genauso ;)
Glückwunsch
Danke!

How did you ship then glider to Australia?
Naromine changed a lot since I was there 25 years ago. Looks much nicer now. Thanks for the video and congrats with a great result.
Thank you.
Excellent 🎉
Thank you!
Is your speed of 200km/h a correct MacCready speed or did you take a great margin for the final, and you had a few meter to spend hence the speed ?
I had some margin and a good convergence line before ;) In general the conditions were not much better than in Europe.

Fantastic video!
Hard to believe how great the weather became after the overcast in the morning, Rocketman - yeah!
This video was a mix from several days ;)

Well done great video, what altitude were you gliding at please in ft. thanks
Thank you! At one time I was at 13,000 ft but most of the competition days we flew below 10,000 ft

Team flying is absolutely not necessary these days to be good at a competition. At our nationals I always fly on my own… so absolutely no argument
