The HMD 26-II-100 applies to requirements of demanding broadcast applications for studio or outside productions. The headset is lightweight, provides extra soft ear cushions and headband paddings for outstanding wearing comfort even during long production days.
The closed, supra-aural headphones are dimensioned for high maximum SPL and provide a good passive noise attenuation. They are equipped with the ActiveGard© limiter which protects hearing from sudden volume peaks above 105 dB. It can be activated or deactivated.
Headset is provided with a dynamic hyper-cardiod patterned microphone. The microphone features excellent acoustic performance, a reliable noise suppression and has a shock mounted capsule for absorbing structure born noise. The short flexible part of the boom guarantees right positioning of microphone. Headset is designed for use in loud environment.
When you need maximum isolation inside the production booth or outdoors on location, consider the Beyerdynamic DT 797 PV broadcast headset from Sweetwater. This double-ear, circumaural broadcast headset features an integrated gooseneck condenser microphone (+48V phantom power required) to facilitate communication between you and your production team. The closed-back earphones supply an immersive 5Hz-35kHz listening response, along with a healthy amount of passive isolation to reduce ambient noise. The DT 797 PV's soft-skin leatherette earpads really pack on the comfort for those long hours in the broadcast booth or out on the floor. This headset's cardioid back-electret condenser microphone delivers clean 40Hz-20kHz vocal reproduction and positions easily toward/away from the speaker's mouth via the articulating gooseneck boom arm with shockmount. Included with the Beyerdynamic DT 797 PV broadcast headset is a single-sided cable with a 1/4-inch stereo headphone plug and a 3-pin male XLR connector.

The Beyerdynamic DT 797 PV sounds more natural to me.

I feel like I account for 50 of these views alone. I loved the sound of the DT 797 PV at first, but the more I watch and A/B vs. the HMD 27, I feel like the Sennheiser set takes the cake. The DT 797s seem to represent more of the nuance in your voice, but it all comes across a bit like it's under a thin fuzzy blanket. The HMD 27's sound clearer, even unprocessed. To me, it seems like the DT 797 would be a great all-rounder for a lot of applications, but the HMD is certainly the industry standard headset for broadcast environments for a reason.

Good video, exactly what I've been waiting for :) I wanna buy a headset for gaming, a headset seems to be a good alternative if you can't bear to have the right microphone technique with an sm7b after hours of playing. I was very close to buy the Sennheiser HMD 26 a couple of months ago, but it's leaning towards the Beyerdynamic DT 797 PV right now, as I already have the dt770 that I am happy with. :)

I bought the DT 797 but damn, the left side on the headset has more bass, I thought it was my ear at first but I turned the headset so that I had the right cup on my left ear and the left cup on my right ear, and it was the other ear that was disturbed by the much more bassy sound, wonder if this is normal? guess I'll have to return them.

Big fan of this sound. Thank you for making me aware of this option.
Can the ear pads be swapped the fabric pads? Would be a little disappointed to have a DT headset and not those wonderful pads.

yup, uses the same earpads as the dt 770, 880, 990 and MMX300. Comes standard with Softskin pads.

I have been using ATH-MX50xsth. My voice sounds very dry from it.

Why did they make it blue? :) Awesome sound but with more and more content being on camera a neutral color would have been better.
