    Great review. One year in with 2C and no homekit and the battery life hasn't changed, it was never 6 mths though especially if you use high sensitivity which you need to. (Im recharging the busiest came every 2 mths). Not too bad. Eufy can miss some motion, which is its only disappointment. Not sure why. Also snooze doesn't seem to work, tested with its light and it always comes on, alerts and records anyway. Otherwise its a great product. Love the alerts and remote capabilities.

    We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.

    Great channel, Shane! I’ve found a number of your videos super helpful. I just wanted to pass along my experience with the EufyCam 2 pro with Homekit. I’ve had my cameras up for 31 days and the one that gets a lot of use on the front of the house over the driveway was down to 9% after these 31 days. Lol. I guess no big deal, since I charged it up this afternoon, but it did take about 7 hours to get back to 100% charge. The one on the side of the house that gets very little traffic, mostly birds and bunnies and the dog patrolling the yard is still at 86%. Thanks for all that you do here!

    Note: Initially the TV makers were using the horizontal numbers 720p, 1080i, 1080p. But someone decided to use the larger vertical line count when 4K TVs came out. In TV resolution 1080p is 1080 horizontal lines by 1920 (2K rounded) vertical lines. 4K (2160 x 3840) is twice 2K and 8K (4320 x 7680) is twice 4K. They'll have to do some fudging when they get to 16K as that will only have 15,360.

    Bought myself the Eufy Pan & Tilt 2k camera for 79 euro. I was looking for an affordable securitycamera to keep an eye on my cats when I’m not home. And when found the eufy cam i didn’t hesitate a minute. And man am I happy with it, affordable, good quality, easy setup, so many options on this camera for half of the price of competitors. Also some minor downsides, like no pan/tilt in homekit, and no audio communication possible trough homekit, hopefully this is coming. Thanks for the review Shane! Now I’m looking for affordable Curtains, but didn’t find any good option for that :(. The Ikea curtains sound good but I don’t have normal windows so i need them to be longer in length and less long in width.

      Hey Terry, good questions. I suppose you can plug it in permanently, as the camera does still seem to operate and record when plugged in. You do get a bright blue LED when charging but that should go OFF once it's fully charged.
      Charging time should be between 8-12 hours. In the app it says "it will take about 8 hours from empty to fully charged with a 5V/2A power source." The user guide says 12 hours.

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Roy! Both are very good and each has its own benefits. The Circle View works exclusively with HSV (and does it well) and doesn’t require any hub or additional equipment. I love the simplicity. However the Eufy Cams 2s have local storage, an alarm, completely wireless, but require the base station.
      With that said, if you only need one outdoor camera, have an accessible power outlet, and only care about HSV, Logitech Circle View is a great choice.
      On the other hand, if you like the idea of local storage, prefer wireless, and maybe want more than one or two, I’d probably go with the Eufy Cams.
      I guess the point is, it really depends on your particular use case, setup, and what’s important to you.

When the resolution of the cam is instead higher, they are under selling ist. But never the less, resolution on paper is not the limiting factor, it’s the Bitrate, compression and overall quality of the sensors. Just look at good FHD BluRay footage and you‘ll see that all the resolution buzz isn‘t worth it (higher data volumes, more processing power, smaller pixels on sensor = more noise,...)

When I add it to HomeKit, I lose some of the functionality, most important to me is being able to speak to anyone (or my pets) remotely to the room the camera is in. I have stopped my dogs from getting up in the back of the couch (not allowed!) by yelling at them when I’m not at hone. Losing that functionality when integrating with HomeKit is a dealbreaker for me. I wish I’d known beforehand.

      Hey Josh, thanks for watching. I have not used the Eufy doorbell yet. I am tempted, but I am waiting until one of these video doorbells officially releases support for HomeKit Secure Video before I get one (hopefully Eufy will be the one).
      There are lots of good locks with different features, so it just depends on what your needs are. I like the vocolinc lock as a great budget-friendly lock with lots of features for the price. I also use the Friday Homes lock which is a good retrofit lock, similar to the August lock. Some others I would consider may be schlage or kwikset.
      For a homekit thermostat I prefer the Ecobee because of the ability to use room sensors. There are other, more affordable options if you don't care about the room sensors. But that was the feature I was most interested in.

      Logitech is great if you can deal with the power source. It's nice not to have to worry about charging batteries. The Eufy recording is still not the best in homekit, but it does a good job in the Eufy app. As long as the camera is placed in a good location as recommended, it should do fine in the Eufy app.

    Hi Shane. Great video :-) Thanks for posting the best videos. Regarding the 100db alarm can that be tricked by a signal from homekit or only by the EufyCam's? Meaning can an sensor that gives an signal to Homekit then activate the alarm?
    Also is there any outdoor POE cam's that is better/the same and working with Homekit Video Secure? Just to avoid the charging problem and have 24/7 recording.
    Again thanks for helping all us Homekit users :-) great work.

    • @ShaneCreates

      Thanks for watching! No, unfortunately the alarm is not exposed to homekit, so you can't trigger it or use it with any of you other homekit devices or sensors. There currently are not any POE cameras that I'm aware of that support HomeKit natively. I have a question on the HKSV integration you mentioned, for clarity. You mentioned you can remove the camera from HKSV if you wanted to free up one of the 5 slots in the 2TB Apple plan. Is this easy to do? (for Circle 2, it is not). Also, once removed, can it still stream through the Home app?

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's easy to do. So we are not actually removing it from HomeKit (you could if you wanted). Instead, you can simply change the record settings to stream only when home and away (never record). This would allow you to continue streaming the cameras from HomeKit, but would not count the cameras against your 5 camera limit. The same should be possible with Circle 2. Only cameras that are set to record will count against the limit.

      Thanks Nick. Yes, the benefit would be that you could use them with HomeKit Secure Video if you wanted to, which would securely record clips to your iCloud. Hi Shane, can you pls confirm that geofencing working properly? Thx.

  • @techytime6197
    @techytime6197 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The reason you got difference in performance for recordings. First, the camera was very high! Eufy recommend 2 meters at a push. The other reason is that the cams use a motion based sensor vs infrared on the Evecam and circle camera.

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea that’s true. Although my camera wasn’t that high. 11 feet. They recommend 7-10 feet. It was just too far to capture motion from the front of the yard.
      Also true about motion based vs infrared sensors. Regardless, I don’t think most people care HOW the motion is detected...they just want to ensure everything is captured that should be. All in all they all did a pretty good job, with the exception of Eufy missing some action here and there. Seemed to have more issues recording in HomeKit. I just wanted to compare to other HSV cameras to make sure it wasn’t just a “HomeKit” issue, as we all know there can be problems on that end as well.

    • @techytime6197

    Hey Shane, I think I understood I can enable the camera to stream to HomeKit but not use the HomeKit Secure Video? Does this already cause the resolution to drop to 1080p, or is it only the Secure Video functionality that causes the reduction in quality? What I would like is 2k resolution local storage but with streaming functionality and importantly with the motion sensor functionality in HomeKit to trigger lights on at nighttime.

      Thanks Dave! Yea, as soon as HomeKit is enabled for the camera, you are then limited to "auto" streaming quality and 1080p recording quality, regardless if you are recording in homekit or not.

    Thanks for the video. this is the first time ive done any kind of research on security cameras with the intention of installing one. The only thing that confuses me is..what exactly is 'HomeKit'? Is it the box you plug in that connects wirelessly to the cameras?

      HomeKit is Apple's smart home platform. Here is my HomeKit 101 video: th-cam.com/video/d9_6p1110lo/w-d-xo.html
