Just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it! Great information, great sense of humor great subject choices and love the intro music! I’ve been out of Sailing for many years and this would be some realistic entry boats to get back into it without breaking the bank too much.
It’s s all about the plaid gentlemen! I use to look forward to Captain Q’s videos in the past, but since his retirement, there hasn’t been anything like it since, well, guess what, BoatFools has taken over that mantel. Congratulations.

As a San Francisco resident in the market for a boat, I'm not sure I'm entirely happy about them calling attention to the exact list of boats I've had my eyes one 😅
Well the Aries was my top pick great boat . The PSC 25 she's strong go anywhere vessel easy to maintain and I say this because I owned one , wish I still had her. As always great show . Thank you Angus SV Violet Walters

@@boatfools My Dad and I restored a beautiful 1958 varnished topsides mahogany Knarr in the '70's. After 2 seasons a tree fell on it in the boatyard. They had to tow it out into Lake Ontario and sink it. I loved that boat.
That is a terrible story. But good memories up until that tree came down… Are you an actual Saab Tech? Love those cars. Have owned 3 over the years. My favorite was a 1985 900 Turbo. Such a blast to drive…still a few up here in Maine.
@@boatfools Yes, I worked at a Saab dealer for about 16 years. Used to go to Connecticut for training. Retired now. Saab cars around here are rapidly vanishing. (not as rare as Knarrs yet though) I still have a 2001 convertible I drive in the Summer sometimes. When I'm not sailing! Ha.

The Aries 32 needs a LOT of wind to sail well. It will need that motor in too many cases. Catalina 34 and 36 have always been bargains for living volume and reasonable sailing capability. Cape Dory 30 in the single mast rig is a classic and durable boat, but not for very light air. Contessa is a sweet little design that sails better than the specs might suggest due to the hull design. The Vindo will ruin your life unless you want to work on the wood on a regular basis and the deck would need a careful survey. They sail well. The PC 27 is a great boat, but I find it too small, unless you sail alone or with a very small crew, but a great boat. Sailed all of these except the Aries. Other boats to consider: Catalina 30, which is basically a legend. The J30, which is basically a cruisable J24, Pearson 30 and 33, Alberg 30 and great for this price range, if you can grab it...The Ontario 32 for sale right now, designed by C&C. It's in Marina Del Rey. Tons of good boats out there! Just sold my Beneteau 393 and will be soon looking for something a bit larger. The market has dropped a bit, so a good time to buy!

WOW! Great episode ... to bad that all these boats are on the West Coast!! I really liked the Aries 32 -- very impressive numbers on that boat. I really like that preferred interior of the Orion 27 -- way better than the one that you recently toured -- i can see why that is the preferred interior. Even the Honorable Mentions were great!!! If the shipping wouldn't bankrupt me, I might look out on the West Coast!!!

All depends on your intended use. They’re a great, relatively inexpensive way to get on the water and you can keep it in your driveway. Check any potential boat carefully. Orion 27 was the best for me and if I was single I’d try to be the next Sam Holmes. If I was looking for a family first boat Catalina would be my choice.

The Vindo 50 was the best deal. So much new stuff on a quality built boat. Not much additional money to spend. Plus it was pretty.
Definitely a super boat. We profiled a Vindo 40 out here in Maine. My word, those are pretty boats!
